Did anyone else on Saturday night get an update that killed off all connectivity on their windows phone?
My Phone installed an update, and all connectivity including Wifi, USB and phone network connectivity was all lost. Despite rebooting and performing a hard reset, no result.
Wifi would not even turn on, the Nokia software would not detect the phone connected to the computer, and I had to put the phone into a recovery mode to restore the firmware, further to while that was in progress the details came up as firmware: unknown and revision: unknown.
This phone was running Windows 10.
I have found in the past updates to these devices seem to degrade performance and functionality, (even under Windows 8.1), e.g., have had both an Optus and Telstra version of this product, and both have after a few updates, lost the clock display when locked. Then usually after one or two updates, further apps start crashing, the phone needs regular reboots.
But this update was completely different; it broke heaps.
Before I rebuilt the phone, I found at least the following issues
corrupted data on the sd card (yes I tried it again without sd)
lost all form of connectivity
number pad would no longer display in the phone app,
keypad no longer worked in but was present in the email app
keypad entirely has gone in the messaging app.
system crashing and rebooting every 5 min.
Download WindowsDeviceRecoveryTool

Once installed plug the phone into your computer, hold down the power and volume down button until the phone vibrates. Then go through the wizard on the PC.
Unfortunately, there is no way to back the device up or save anything on the phone unless here is some way to copy to sd card.
I lost a fair bit of data but the phone is working again now
