Gamers nexus had the 5080 beating the 4080 super by 6 to 18 fps depending on the game and ray tracing on saw the biggest (+18fps difference). Mostly around a 10 fps improvement.
Ouch.....(officially)
5080 lost to 7900xtx in some games....
This is honestly insane. Coming from a 3070 id still get a decent or even good uplift but jeez... Even if the frames are within single digits in some games the 7900 XTX is still putting up a fight against the RTX 5080...
That being said a saving grace of the card seems to be efficiency vs the 5090? Not that much more power draw compared to 4080 and 4080 super?

Yeah only the 5090 got any meaningful improvement and everything else is just not looking good... At least if your coming from a 4000 series card anyway
Double the performance of the 3080. Apparently I'm supposed to cry about that and vow never to buy Nvidia again.
HUB have it losing to a 4080 super in a few games, something must ne wrong there.
its common across others too.
Funnily enough Linus has the 5080 pushing the 4090 in cyberpunk at 4k (-4fps) while gamers nexus says cyberpunk is broken and didn't put up any results for it. More catty bitch fighting to ensue lol.
Double the performance of the 3080.
I wish it was, then it would of been 10% faster than a 4090.. But what we got instead is that its 15% slower.

Same with Techpowerup, but with the Galax 5080 OC 1-Click it's within 1fps of a 4090 at 4K in CP2077.
Would of been alot better for the 5080 if Nvidia didn't cut it down so much.
Easily could of had a 5080 performing like the 4090 does.
was planning to get the 5070ti or should I just settle for the 4080 super at this point based on these review of the 5090/5080

Yep. And the 5090 is so expensive here. Unfortunately. Good for those with deep pockets though. Even the 5090 isn't exactly a slam dunk either though.

I think most PC gamers would say do what's right for you. The argument could be made to save some money and get a 4080 super though. I guess it depends how badly you need that 10 fps improvement vs the $600 extra.
When do stores start putting official prices up?

Someone here contacted a store who said prices won't be revealed until they to up for sale.

Boo. Well it gives the 4080 super a chance to clear out in the next 48 hours I guess lol.

Centrecom only have 2, Gigabyte and ASUS TUF that one for $1799. Quite honestly tempting at this point...
I dunno what you guys are looking at. Or you're using a different metric for what double the performance means. Or thinking 3080 TI not 3080 like I am.
Jayz2cents, Wukon 4k – 3080 26 avg. 5080 58 avg. That's over double.
Cyberpunk, 4k. 3080 18 avg. 5080 38 avg. That's double.
Cyberpunk, 4k medium with RT. 3080 18 avg. 5080 38. Double.
Optimum's Cyberpunk bench had 43 to 77. Close enough to double.

Damn. They've sold out at umart and scorptec and mwave.
Pccasegear has an MSI 4080 super in stock for $1749.
lol looks at those frame rates posted above.
It’s like 2007 called and my GeForce 8800 trying to run crysis at 1080P.
People need to accept 4K / ray tracing is still years away.
Stay with 1440P and save yourself some money lol…if anything splurge on an OLED panel…that’s the real star of the show.
So, AMD lied, they said they weren't going to compete with this latest gen at the high end.
The RX 7900 XTX mostly doesn't do too bad compared to the 5080 (apart from some RT stuff, which isn't surprising).
As previously said/expected, if you have a 4090 then you are sitting pretty. Or you are about to spend $4-5k on a 5090.
Even the 4080S doesn't do too bad, so again, you either get a 5090 or wait till next gen.
I still feel there is so going to be a 5080 refresh in a years time. It will be actually 4090 level of performance (maybe a little better), with 24GB VRAM and with a lot of luck, cost the same $1000USD. At which point stock of the 5080 will dry up.

TPU has a relative performance chart, and it includes a more wide variety of game samples, over 20.
1080p – 58%
1440p – 72%
4k – 75%.
Hardware Unboxed 17 games sample..
1080p – 41%
1440p – 57%
4k – 65%.
Oh now that Nvidia has shown their hand, and AMD waiting patiently to see how these new GPUs perform, and it has shown that they only have a 10-15% uplift over their previous generation barring the 5090... I think AMD is smiling right now, the rumoured price of that RX 9070XT was $899US, and leaked performance showed it very close to the 4080 Super in performance. Now they don't have to drastically drop the price on it anymore... I don't think the $549 9070XT is going to come into fruition.

Yeah Nvidia really cut the 5080 down too much could of easily had a 5080 performing on the same level as the 4090 or even slightly better at $1000 usd.
