suspect you won't be able to get them in a very long time, or even not at all thereafter.
Unless Nvidia start doing price cuts/rebates because everyone just doesn't buy them. If each shipment/restock keeps selling out at higher prices, then unless our dollar gets a big surge, prices will forever stay high.
You can probably expect the same thing with Frame Generation, Nvidia Reflex 2 will be released
I agree it will improve. But there is also a significant chance that they lock significant improvements behind the next Gen of hardware. Ala MFG.
""This brings about an 8% and 9% improvement over the RTX 4080""
Well if thats true i might as well and go out and buy a 4080S.

There will be enough people coming from 2 & 3 series and those just want the absolute best that will see the limited initial stock get absorbed immediately. I agree with you, I don't see the prices coming down at all.
Without viable competition I can’t see them doing what they did with the 4080S and cutting the price.

If doing 4k, don;t also forget to take into account % lows.
Higher FPS is great of course, but so is more consistent fps – not having the drops when it really matters is just as important.
It's why am considering selling 4080S for 5090.

You're coming from a 3080 yeah? Smart money is probably on waiting for the 5080 to release in 3 or 4 days. Really depends if you're willing to pay the extra for the 5080 over the 4080 super I guess. The 5080 is going to be around $2100 for the cheapest cards I think? And you can get the 4080 super for $1600. I doubt the 4080 super will sell out between now and release day of the 5080. But if the 5080 reviews poorly you might have to jump on the 4080 super quickly.
On launch day pricing unless there’s a massive surprise in the 5080 reviews there’s no way that card makes sense on a price to performance basis over a 4080S. But, in time, I’d expect 5080 pricing to come down to similar levels and at that point you get whatever minor uplift is associated with the card.

Are you saying the 5070 ti will only be 5% better than the 4070 ti super?
I saw a review of 50 series cards that suggests the 5070ti will be the stand out card as far as increases in performance and 5070 the worst. This is going off specs, not any leaked benchmarks
What 5070Ti?

RTX 5070 Ti starting at AUD 1,509
I've been HODLing for ages, "good" 4080 Supers were easily available for $15XX around BF and now the rumour is 5080s will be around $2100... for 8% performance increase... sigh

Against the 4070 Ti it likely will be a reasonable uplift. Against the Ti Super, likely not. The specs aren’t much better.

I don't game enough anymore to justify the top end but I am waiting almost got a 7900 GRE but really want 2x performance improvement before I buy, so still have my RXT 3070 which was $1000 during Covid.

Since turning 50, my gaming has declined by about 50%, just don't feel it like I used to. Still game, just more selective in what I play.
I am looking at a 6090, and anticipate that will last me 6 – 8 years, given my decline in gaming. Hell, by the time I'm 60, my gaming may have declined to console only and not much of it. I find these days, apart from D4, some POE 2, I play more older stuff and retro emulation. Still play me Res Evil games, love me Amiga and C64 emulation, MAME and PS3/Ps4 emulation.
The thing with Frame Generation, is that just like DLSS Super Resolution, it will go through multiple iterations of improvements. Just like how DLSS 1 was blurry as hell, then DLSS 2 came along, and it vastly improved the image reconstruction but still had issues with ghosting etc and now DLSS 4 is introduced with even better reconstruction and improved IQ..
Yep improvements over time i don't see any reason why the same can't happen in regards to Multi frame gen .
Nvidia reflex 2 is coming to Valorant / The Finals soon so we should see how impactful it is with the 5000 series and multi frame gen.
I suspect its going to be quite good making the MFG feature on the 5000 series more appealing to gamers especially with all the higher refresh rate monitors popping up (240hz +)

Yep. That's for sure. Although the internet is full of people complaining about the pricing, they will likely sell out. All my friends and I are coming from 30 series and 1 from a 40, literally everyone is getting a 50.

People building brand new systems rather than upgrading too, which is me. I think there is plenty of market for these new cards even without the uplifts being as big generationally as they have sometimes been. Besides which, 40 series stock won't last forever and the prices will go up not down.

I’m building a 9800x3d system and hoping 5070 would be enough for 1440p gaming. I think I’ll be left disappointed when the benchmarks come out. Looks like I’ll need to stretch to a 5070ti….
On the plus side, I think DLSS 4 will be a good win for competitive games and players.

The 5070 will be right for 1440P gaming.
But its not a buy with its 12GB ram in 2025

Resale is excellent. He sold his 4090 off on ebay for almost 3K, barely lost any $ from buying it at launch. After 2 years of use, it's well worth it. So makes perfect sense to just top up a small amount to get a 5090. I feel like plenty of the people crying over the pricing are the same ones that have very old cards and "wait" for next gen every cycle and end up not buying anyway.
