It's just fun sitting back to enjoy the drama and rag on nVidia
:)
I did well "last" generation. $2k 6900 XT at a time when 3090s were >$3k. Wasn't until earlier this year that the prices between them aligned more. That GPU (Sapphire Nitro+) now lives on in a mates rig, he paid me what I paid for it and on-sold his RTX 2070S.

Just wait till AMD does the same thing :)

Without a doubt they will, they fired shots at Intel in the Ryzen keynote. Nvidia's turn methinks.

Same.
I regret not selling my 5700 XT during peak crypto boom. Think I paid like $630 new for it, and people were selling 2nd hand for like $800+ at one point. I should have but felt guilty, so it's still collecting dust lol

That's exactly what a mate of mine did. Sold his used 5700 XT for the price of a brand new 6700 XT, got a net 15% performance gain at less power for free.
Strike when the irons hot :)

I was thinking about this. I managed to get an FHR 3080 on release night, so it was very well priced (EVGA card). During the crypto boom, I was considering selling it as they were fetching over $2K on the used market. Too bad I didn't, but in exchange, I managed to get myself $600 in crypto and now I get to watch the fireworks over the RTX 4000, while I enjoy gaming and video upscaling and repair on my 3080.

Let's not derail this thread all i said is strike while the irons hot im sure you know what that means.

Yeah i didn't sell anything in the crypto phase so my character is fine thank you :)

Maybe, and I'm willing to accept this could be a reflection of my inner fanboi, but it feels like they've historically been less monopolistic than nVidia / Intel.
Can't remember when they've done a new launch and I've responded with "You must be kidding me"
But that's likely a symptom of Intel / nVidia being first to market and setting ridiculous price expectations early
Not wanting to get into an argument around it of course. If that hasn't been other peoples perception, that's fine
I think what has become the new joke is mouse prices. But that's getting off topic, so I won't, and I'll go find the appropriate thread :)

Yeah i meen none of these companies are your friend that includes AMD.
I always just buy whatever is better and reasonably priced at the time regardless of brand.
Nvidia/Intel/AMD have all been good for me. Getting attached to certain brands just gets people real fired up and angry :)

I was thrown off aswell i was expecting a price increase but not to that magnitude.
I had the 4080 16gb @ $799 how wrong was i...
They probably will be sold-out since it'll be sold in small volumes and also Nvidia can manipulate the number of stocks
Most likely, and like I've said there are a lot of cashed-up rich gamers around who want the latest and greatest hardware.
I'll wait what AMD have to offer; I just hope they don't pull a NVidia with the RTX 4080 pricing BS
Don't expect much better value from AMD either, probably slightly cheaper cards. AMD is still a business for profit, not a charity organisation selling cheap GPUs.

The only thing that keeps large corporations from being monopolistic is competition.

Nvidia are on drugs if they think these cards will sell at these prices – dlss3 introduces latency and the 4080 12gb might be slower than a 3090ti as well.
I hope they lose market share.

ikr – ASUS. Love me ASUS gear.

Guilty here:)
I sold my RTX 3080 to a miner for a $1300 profit but spent all that money at retailers to help them out during the pandemic, back to being a saint.. lol
Don't expect much better value from AMD either,
I got this feeling as well but who knows, surprise me AMD.
