Who knows hes been doing this stuff for a long time i dont think so.
Yeah, he's one of the more outspoken / opinionated techtubers out there, it's not the first foot-in-mouth moment for him.
The fact he came out and said he was wrong makes me think hes not paid it was just bad advice.
I disagree, it wasn't particularly bad advice at the time.
Prices are certainly down this month a bit more, but I bet most people who have bought since he posted that video are not crying into their cereal every morning over the $100 or $200 they might have saved on their high end cards if they waited longer.
There have been plenty of decent deals over the last month, especially for those who can get an AMD card.

Well they're still falling, and will continue to fall. Hence the apology (he wouldn't have needed to if it had bottomed out by now).
If they aren't crying now, they might be in a few month's time. And if the prophecies regarding the future viability of crypto mining are true, there will literally be a flood of GPUs on the market, selling for chump change.

Regardless of peoples positions the advice was still bad because if they waited they would of saved money to spend on better parts better cpu/ram/case etc .
His advice was buy now back in July and for Nvidia that was poor advice.
Either way he knows his advice was bad because prices kept falling he clowned it up and ate humble pie.

What for? They get to game on their graphics cards for months while the HODLers are still upset because their preferred card is still not "cheap" enough, or Nvidia hasn't released the card of their dreams yet at the price they are after, but rumors say "any day now!"
Old stuff is always going to get cheaper, that is the way it has been for decades.

This is very true the closer you get to the end of product cycles the cheaper it gets.
Jays advice is generally pretty good but this time imo he was off the mark in regards to Nvidia GPUs .
They get to game on their graphics cards for months
That's a valid point

Yes but there are certain points in time where the equation shifts dramatically.
I'm not saying it'll happen, but say your investment drops to a third of it's value within 3 months of purchase. Would you still say "well it was still worth it, since I was able to game for those 3 months", or "damn, should have waited and saved a grand"?

That has been the way it has typically been for the last 30 years with computers ... you wait longer, parts get cheaper.
This is a gradual return to normal dealing after a few years of craziness. So people have to start accepting again that the computers they are buying are going to depreciate ... sometimes quite rapidly.

It is never a good time to buy Nvidia cards, as the market things of them as premium and prices are always somewhat inflated because of that.
Either way he knows his advice was bad because prices kept falling he clowned it up and ate humble pie.
And people are way too precious and sensitive IMO. One youtuber puts out an opinion piece about graphics cards that is against the general grain, and suddenly because his predictions are not right, he has to put out a groveling apology video.

But he ain't just "some" youtuber he has big sway in the PC space closing in on 4 mil subs.
What content and what he says matters he needs to be more careful next time.

Well, I doubt 3080's are going to crash to $600 each, except maybe on ebay for mining cards once etherum moves to Proof of Stake, so I guess I am safe there :-)
We might see 3080's 10gb's drop below the $1000 mark ... maybe $900 at the very lowest. Maybe .... they have been resisting going much below $1200 each for a little while now.
Buying GPU's around crypto craze is like gambling even if you bought an RTX 3080 10gb for $2K is still a good purchase. Anyway, any guesses on the released date for RTX 4xxxx ?

4090 this year some time and 4080 / 4070 Q1 2023.
Ngreedia will suck people in with the 4090 which will cost like $1500 USD and make others hold :)
With current inflation levels in the US i expect price increases aswell.
4080 to start at $799 USD . 4070 to start at $599 USD .
$100 increase on each tier of GPU.

My GTX 1080 is loving games at 4k.. lol

Honestly, I'm just hoping AMD release more power efficient parts.
Efficiency is king lol

Better have your wallet ready boys .

I think that for me it's the arrogance of the video. He didn't really hedge his bets by suggesting it's just a theory. He was sure of himself and even called people unintelligent for not listening. When people act like that and are wrong, you just really want to rub it in a bit.
I had a friend basically call me an idiot for suggesting Russia would invade Ukraine. Did I rub that one in a little? Of course I did lol.

Yeah arrogance bites you in the ass eventually in life.
gotta "stay humble bro"
