O.P.

Hi all

I am trying to unlock a Nokia 6500 Slide from the Planet3 network but am having trouble. I can find the IMEI but to get it off the Planet3 network is proving a nightmare.

Help please.

If you mean this phone (https://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_6500_slide-1996.php), you may have to consider whether it's worth doing so being a 3G only device, for which the carriers here are either shutting down or reducing capacity on their 3G networks.
Assuming the specs on that page match your device, it only used the 3G 850 and 2100MHz bands anyway, of which those bands specifically are either already decommissioned, or in the process of being with all carriers here (Optus never used 850MHz).

That said, you mention Planet3 so would have been a 3 network device, which was rolled into Vodafone some years back so maybe ask them if you really have to get that device unlocked.

If I remember correctly from back in the days of the 3 to Vodafone migration the unlocking tool on the Vodafone website also provided unlocking codes for phones locked to 3.

Punch the IMEI into here and see if it gives you any joy: https://unlock.vodafone.com.au/voila/handsetunlock/self-service.html?method=selectService
