I'm still wondering when retailers here will have stock of GTA IV, as discussed earlier. I reckon they'll have it on the 24th of April. IMO Monday 28th would be calling it too close.
Wish it was released on the 24th - then we could all have it for the Anzac long weekend! So how does it work for people like EB & JB staff etc..? Surely if it came in on 24th quite a few of them would take it home for the long weekend??
I don't know the value, but I know that when I traded in my 360 console I was offered something pitiful like $140 from EB games, but Game would give me almost $300 for it. EB matched the price when I told them.
Just rang up Game, they'd give me $200 for it.
you may be right, but there's more chance we'd be hit by a bus, with sharks driving.
Ahh rightio then - you're obviously in the know (not like anyone else in this forum could be, and might work for a law enforcement agency).
Go ahead and try it - I'm sure some copies will get through, but regardless if the item is GTA IV or otherwise, if it's illegal under Australian law, and is detected at the border, then it will be confiscated. End of story.
Okay guys, I have some news for you regarding what was edited from the AU release. I just gave Take2 a call (a friggin expensive 1902 number!) and this is exactly what I was told:
"Well in regards to what Rockstar have removed for the Australian release, as far as we're aware there was only one sexually violent cut-scene which Rockstar felt would cause the game to be Refused Classification. Unfortunately we're not able to go into specifics until after the game has been released but I can tell you that the scene involves a weapon being inserted into an enemies private area during a mission where Niko is taking revenge after one of his close friends was forced into sexual intercourse during his stay in prison."
Seriously I thought he was joking ....I was like LOL you're joking right? He says "No. This is what Rockstar felt needed to be removed from the game for it's Australian release. We were recently given permission to release this information because as we understand, Rockstar originally made a press release stating that the game would be released uncut world wide. We felt it would be misleading not to release the information".
O.O

GTA:IV? Well actually mate it's not illegal under Australian law because it hasn't been Refused Classification and it's impossible for customs to know what was taken out of the Australian release and if the version being imported is identical. Customs don't check all packages and I have never been caught importing banned games.
I can picture someone on Border Security getting caught for attempting to import UK copies of GTA IV into Australia ;D
'We found he was concealing a number of discs internally.'
Wow! Let's hope you're not telling porkpies! :)
I just realised something, regardless we can see the content on youtube :)

that would be true if the unedited version had been submitted to the oflc and been banned, which it hasnt, there for owning or importing a copy is not illegal, selling it within australian shores is illegal (becauses its illega to sell media with out it being submited to the oflc) so yeah you might get caught if you import more then one copy together.

Good news for import / local multiplayer if thats all thats been edited :)
That is really funny (& disturbing) ! Good on you iCE654, you did it again. Well researched. Kudos.
So it's all about one little, itty bitty, gun-insertion, scene. LOL! Ok guys, go and buy your local copies without a sense of loss.

that confirms exactly what a gta4 blog ive been reading said, the got into specifics saying that the scene first involves some low key methods of torture and ends with a character having a baseball bat jammed up his ass. personally i dont care if if i do or dont see a computer character get sodomised, everytime i see it in a movie it grosses me out and im pretty certain it would do the same in a video game.
If they were going to release the details of what was edited, don't you think the media would of found out first?

After reading that. I'm fine with importing it.
I'm sure the cut scene will be posted on the internet anyway.

haha you're comedy gold buddy.
enjoy your black and white world.
i'm not going to waste anymore of my time-wasting at work on this discussion any more.

Thanks for sharing it with us - muchly appreciated - at least it will (hopefully) put a stop on the all the ranting and speculating and high-horsing about classification etc
To be honest, I'd rather not see a dude get gun shoved up his bum. And bugger ordering a copy in from O/S just to see it!! Some people must be pretty red in the face - all demanding to get the full *uncensored* version - and it turned out to be something very very ordinary, not to mention unpleasant.

you mean you're fine with NOT importing it right?

do you think perhaps some people also didn't wish to be pantsed on purchase price?
watch your footing up on that high horse.

and earlier
Thanks mate - I can't access it - bloody federal govt IT systems block 'large' downloads. Any chance anyone can email it to me? Please flick me a whim if you can...thanks in advance!
As GTA IV has not been refused classification in Australia offically known as "RC" you and your mates working in customs will be having a hard time seizing any copies of GTAIV coming in unless you decide to just plain flog them. Which wouldnt surprise anyone reading this thread given your attitude.
By the way does your work know your here reading WP during business hours???
