O.P.

Hello World!

I've been trying to boost WIFI network at my place and would like to make the best use of a couple of old routers I have wirelessly.

Primary Router – ASUS RT AX55
Secondary Router – Netcomm NF18MESH
Secondary Router – Telstra Smart Modem 2
Ethernet Cable Extension – Not an option

I have gone through a lot of forums and watched videos on how to create this bridge but I have not been successful. Any help would be appreciated.

Steps followed
Netcomm NF18MESH
1. Firmware Updated
2. Logged into advanced settings, enabled bridge and added ASUS MAC address
3. Reboot Router
4. Added the MAC for Netcomm on ASUS with WDS Active in Hybrid Mode
5. Added the IP of ASUS (one digit variation from primary IP) to Netcomm and Disabled DCHP for IP4 and IP6. Both routers are on same channel
6. Router Reboots but now I cannot connect with router on WIFI. Shows an exclamation mark.
7. To resolve I tried to add 8.8.8.8 , 8.8.4.4 in DNS and sometimes it works but i tried again and it seems to be not working

On Telstra Router
Reset Router
1. Disabled Mobile
2. Disabled content sharing and printer sharing
3. In advanced local network, enabled bridge mode – Restart
4. Cannot connect to router anymore

I have also tried to change the channel, IP and DCHP but get error message "some parameters failed validation"

I have a wifi extender which is ok but not good
I have not looked at wifi power line adpaters but that would be a hit and miss

Do not want to run ethernet cables in the house. would like to do it wirelessly if possible

I don't think you can with those models.

Get more ASUS routers for ASUS AiMesh.

O.P.

I wonder why though. AiMesh is an option but would prefer WDS mode if i can anyway.

They can be bridged via cable but not wirelessly.

I was able to make Telstra as my primary router and used ASUS as secondary, but i would like Asus to be primary router as its more advanced and lets me set DNS servers of my liking to block ads and adult content, malware, etc

Not a priority.

All three manufacturers have their own mesh options.
