Instead of a password you need to enter your security token which you can set up by logging into the Members Services Area (https://members.adam.com.au/) and using the Token Manager to create a token.
After that click on the small spanner icon to bring up the settings panel and enter your token. Then click ok. After that you can reopen the settings panel and change the account type and view your connection info.
I have started a new thread for posting info on the new API whrl.pl/RcGYMJ and also a wiki page http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/adamfaq_api
Adam API Error Codes:
Under certain circumstances you can receive an API error code, this is what they mean. Api error means there is a problem with the feed see http://www.adam.com.au/outage
- 001 – Unknown/Internal error.
- 003 – AdamAPI is currently unavailable. Please try again later.
Bug Reports
If you find a bug please make a note of the following in your post.
- A description of the problem and/or screenshot if applicable.
- Windows version (e.g. Vista or Win7)
- Internet Explorer version (gadgets use IE for rendering so this is important)
- Adam plan name and type
- It applicable please upload the output of https://members.adam.com.au/api/ to http://pastebin.com/ with your ipaddress and username removed.

I haven't had much time to test it since the feed only just came back up today. So consider this like a beta at the moment.
If you want a well tested version of the gadget check out AAUMv3 (whrl.pl/RcG2Aa). However it doesn't work for a lot of new plans types.
Doesn't work for me :(
All I get is the yellow bar with 6 Days remaining and the Newsgroup usage at 20%
I'm on Wimax SuperChoice 200G
The previous version worked better for me..

Can you please upload the output of https://members.adam.com.au/api/ to http://pastebin.com/ with your ipaddress and username removed so I can test it.
Thanks.
Ok I think I fixed the problem the superchoice plan had spaces in the desc field which was messing up the css. So it should work now just download the gadget again.

Ah.. Thats Better.. :)
Just downloaded the gadget, got a token from the token manager,
It works!
very simple to use
great features
and the best thing is Simple
Great work!
So the flickering issue is gone that you had with v3?
Yes, I haven't noticed it. The info scrolls nicely too. Just a thought that maybe another bar for voip usage??? Not important, just might be nice to have.
Just a thought that maybe another bar for voip usage
Not much I can do with AdamTalk though without scraping the members area which is a real pain in the ass.
This is what the AdamTalk section of the feed looks like now.

So as you can see there isn't much I can do with it.
My plan is to have pop out usage graphs in the next major update.

I dislike it. The text extends beyond the gadgets frame and there's a discrepancy in my remaining days compared to running V3.x (of one day)
V3 is much neater imho and works fine :) V5 for me doesn't display my line speed, SNR or Attenuation.
I do however like the token implementation.
V3 is much neater imho and works fine :)
The downside to using the older meters is that they will stop working at some point in the future, as we disable the old usage XML feed.
Your best bet is to work with the people developing applications now with AdamAPI to iron out any bugs, rather than relying on unmaintained and unsupported applications.
- Dy
I've noticed another discrepancy between V5 & V3; On V5 I have 4days remaining and the bar is almost completely shaded in, on V3 I have 3days and the bar is not as shaded in. (this is a reverse of what should be)
some of the other bars tend to be a little 'out' also.. (which leads me to wonder, which one is actually correct)

I am all for latest versions. Just stating so far I find V3 much better, however I look forward to V5 in the future when it's tidier.

I have just seen these discrepancies as well and am wondering the same, which one is correct?.Also with Adam being a big player in the internet game (in SA) are they developing a gadget themselves instead of customers doing it for them?(correct me if im wrong).
are they developing a gadget themselves instead of customers doing it for them
They did the iOS and Android ones. The whole point of having an API is to allow people to develop their own applications.

V3 has been around for more than 3 years, whereas v5 has only been around for 3 days so of course it will take a bit of time to iron out any issues.

Ok thanks Michael I will have another look the AdamTalk section.

Yeah that's cool, as I've said I'm looking forward to V5 when it's tweaked a bit :)
(i was merely providing some honest feedback for both yourself and the other Adam users)
Screenshot please and Internet Explorer version. It sounds like you might be using an old version of IE.

IE9 so not too old :) ....I wasn't aware IE effected the gagdet ?

Sorry no can do, that addy won't accept my username and pass. it returns 'Your login attempt failed. Check username and password information.002'
It tells me I have 4 days remaining and the Adam iPhone app says 2 days...
What's up with that?
The iPhone app has always been spot on..

Yeah the gadget runs in IE. It is like a mini webpage.
I can't view the link it asks for login info. You need to change the url so http://users.adam.com.au/YOUR_ADAM_USERNAME/AAUMShot.JPG
Sorry no can do, that addy won't accept my username and pass
Just leave the username blank and use your token for the pass.
Yeah that's cool, as I've said I'm looking forward to V5 when it's tweaked a bit :)
Yeah no problem I pan on getting this one just as tight as v3. As long as I have some testers to work with it won't be a problem.
I've noticed another discrepancy between V5 & V3; On V5 I have 4days remaining and the bar is almost completely shaded in, on V3 I have 3days and the bar is not as shaded in.
In v5 the bar is calculated using hours. So whereas in v3 at 11pm the bar would be the same as at 1 am. In v5 the bar will increase throughout the day. Still it might need a little tweaking.
Also v3 always rounds up numbers so 44.001% will show as 45%.
AAUMv5 5.0.1
Download Link: http://users.adam.com.au/galbraith/aaum/AAUMv5.gadget
Changes
- Fixed major bug with new data not being loaded in (ie gadget not updating)
- Fixed bug with Superchoice plans.
- Updated the date calculations, should be the same as v3 now, hopefully ;)
- Changed colour of days remaining bar (from white to light grey, same as v3)
AAUMv5 5.0.2
Download Link: http://users.adam.com.au/galbraith/aaum/AAUMv5.gadget
Sorry for the double update just found what may have been causing that issue with the sidebar settings text causing scroll-bars to be displayed.
Changes
- Fixed CSS rendering issue with IE8
AAUMv5 5.0.3
Download Link: http://users.adam.com.au/galbraith/aaum/AAUMv5.gadget
Changes
- Fixed usage bar width calculation (should be closer to v3 now)
- Fixed a number of small rounding errors
- Fixed bug with data-blocks not being added onto total usage correctly
Hi again,
The usage bar looks to be a good match with V3 now :)
Still no up/down noise data, here is the data u asked for http://pastebin.com/DWwCS0mz
the image which is now kind of redundant, except to show the text going beyond the gadgets frame. http://users.adam.com.au/deltek/AAUMShot.JPG
Adam API seems to be down again just received error code 001. So if you have problems with it loading this morning that is probably the cause.
Still no up/down noise data, here is the data u asked for http://pastebin.com/DWwCS0mz
Hmm it doesn't have the surrounding tags like this http://pastebin.com/kxCxXDpY which makes it hard to see how the data is formatted.
What you are looking for is this part
<ADSL>
<SyncStatus>yes</SyncStatus>
<SyncUp>1022000</SyncUp>
<SyncDown>7918000</SyncDown>
<SNRUp>6</SNRUp>
<SNRDown>6.6</SNRDown>
<AttenuationUp>9.2</AttenuationUp>
<AttenuationDown>13.5</AttenuationDown>
</ADSL>
If you can't see it on the feed here https://members.adam.com.au/api/ then it means it isn't supported for your plan. But it should be there since you are on a ADSL plan.
It would be really helpful though if you could paste the full feed source since yours is the first Basic Choice plan I have seen. You might have to view->source (ctrl+u) in IE to see it. If your plan isn't providing the ADSL info then it likely is an issue with the Adam API feed and I can forward it to them.
except to show the text going beyond the gadgets frame.
Yeah I know it cuts the text of if it is too long. The alternative is to reduce the font size however doing that automatically based on the width of the text (like v4) caused so many issues (with both performance and rendering) that I have left it as is for now. I figure most people know what plan they are on anyway.
But it should be there since you are on a ADSL plan.
According to the pastebin Hadis is on a BasicChoice plan which is Telstra – ADSL stats are not available on Telstra plans.
AAUMv5 5.0.4
Download Link: http://users.adam.com.au/galbraith/aaum/AAUMv5.gadget
Changes
- Updated to take into account plans with usage buckets exceeding 1TB.
- Fixed bug with formatting after update occurs.
- Minor code restructure
I have also moved the project onto github. You can view the source at http://github.com/hamradio/AAUMv5
The download links etc.. will stay the same at least for now.

What about simply reducing (renaming) the text ? or does it get this info from Adam directly ?
If it gets it directly, would it be possible to insert some renaming coding into the gadget ? (providing it doesn't lag or bloat it too much) ?
does it get this info from Adam directly ?
Yeah it is part of the feed.
If it gets it directly, would it be possible to insert some renaming coding into the gadget?
I'm curious though as to what format you would suggest? I could just strip the download amount from the title i.e. change AdamEzyChoice 250GB to just AdamEzyChoice or strip the Adam part so it is EzyChoice 250GB. Although it doesn't seem like the best solution.
I will probably have another crack at making the font auto shrink to fit the area in the next major update.
It's difficult because the new plan titles are sooooo long. 'AdamBasicChoice 100Gb', the old plans fitted perfectly (Home ADSL 50Gb for eg) Maybe drop the choice? so it's just 'AdamBasic 100gb'
The two other text spill overs are 'Peak Download Usage' and 'Off-Peak Download Usage' . Under the old Home plans these were simply 'Peak Data' and 'Off-peak Data'
(Upload Usage & Newsgroups Usage fit ok)
The only thing I would find about font scaling or reduction is it would be becoming too small (and hard to read at a glance) and to have the long names scale only is inconsistent and fugly.
The two other text spill overs are 'Peak Download Usage' and 'Off-Peak Download Usage' . Under the old Home plans these were simply 'Peak Data' and 'Off-peak Data'
Hmm that is actually a bug it should be just 'Peak Download'. I'll fix it sometime this arvo.
It's difficult because the new plan titles are sooooo long.
I know imagine "AdamEzyChoice VDSL2 50Mbps 100GB". You would need a microscope to see it.
I can use the "plantype" field instead of the "planname" field.
This would make:
AdamEzyChoice 250GB becomes AdamDirect
AdamSuperChoice WiMAX 200GB becomes AdamMax
AdamEzyChoice VDSL2 50Mbps 100GB becomes Adam VDSL2
etc...
Has anyone had a problem with an apparent memory leak??
Environment is win 7 64 Bit
I left the PC running over night, & the sidebar consumed all available RAM.... issue was resolved by removing the usage meter.
I had that issue with after upgrading to 5.00 however I haven't left my computer on overnight since it leaked. And I have upgraded to the latest release.
Win7 64bit
AAUMv5 5.0.5
Download Link: http://users.adam.com.au/galbraith/aaum/AAUMv5.gadget
Changes
- Added loading image. Previously a blank screen would appear during long loads. So now it is obvious when it is loading.
- Fixed a bug where 'Usage was being applied incorrectly. e.g. 'Peak Download' would show as 'Peak Download Usage'
- Updated so that the plan title font will now resize by 1px for long titles.
- Stripped 'Adam' from plan title e.g. AdamEzyChoice is now just EzyChoice
I might change the stripping 'Adam' part but for now it should make most plan titles display a bit better. VDSL users might still have text overflowing. But they have VDSL so they can't complain.
Has anyone had a problem with an apparent memory leak??
Which version did it happen with? It would be helpful to know.
The 5.0.4 update should have fixed any problems like that. It didn't show any memory leaks when I tested it. But obviously that is something that I am not happy to hear about and if there is a problem I will get a patch out asap.
Which version did it happen with?
I'll check this out when I get back to the PC (not at prems ATM) & let you know.
It may very well be & missed an update somewhere... Thanks for the hard work, the gadget has been most handy till now :)
Ok no problem. I'll be running my PC overnight to see if there is any significant increase in memory usage with the latest version.
OK, looks like I missed the last update, version was 5.0.3 (gotta love remote access :P)
I'll download the new update & let you know
Sorry ME i can't reply to your pm for some reason. But to answer your question I'm not a ham radio operator. I got the nick from my brother.
V5.0.5 looks good. Neat and tidy.
I run my PC 24/7 but have not yet noticed a large memory consumption (I have 12gb) ...but will keep an eye out.
Sorry ME i can't reply to your pm for some reason. But to answer your question I'm not a ham radio operator. I got the nick from my brother.
No Probs, As you might have guessed from the question, I am :P
Back on topic though, thanks for your efforts with the usage gadget, I'll let you know how it ends up.... all good for now though, no noticeable effect.
AAUMv5 5.0.6
Download Link: http://users.adam.com.au/galbraith/aaum/AAUMv5.gadget
Changes
- Updated settings panel styling, it is more obvious now what number is up or down.
- Improved the formatting of the 'Copy to Clipboard' function so it adds line breaks the the text.
- Fixed a bug where on the last day the days remaining description would get stuck on showing just '24 hours remaining'.
Ran my pc overnight with the gadget installed and it showed no increase in memory usage for the sidebar process by the morning. This was with 5.0.5 so if anyone has problems make sure to update.
Changes
Is it difficult to modify the gadget so it remembers the token when updating the gadget.
Currently the gadget notifies a later version is available, I click on update and have to delete the currently running gadget to enable the later version to be installed. On installing the gadget again it has forgotten the token.
In short yes. The data is stored in a way that I cannot access when a new version is installed. Of course there would be a way to make it work but it wouldn't be pretty.
Updates have been coming out fairly regularly but things should settle down really soon. You won't have to worry about updating much at all in the future once it reaches 5.1.0 since I will have run out of ideas for it ;)
One thing I find with the gadget, is after about a day it stops scrolling info and when I hover the mouse over the bars nothing is displayed. Is there a problem with updating or something?
In short yes.
Thanks for considering it.
Please do not avoid updating the gadget it you have new ideas. Re-entering the token is a small price to pay for your improvements.
One thing I find with the gadget, is after about a day it stops scrolling info and when I hover the mouse over the bars nothing is displayed
Same with me, the plan name/type does not display and mousing over any of the bars does not display any text.
There is no API error code displayed, it's merely totally blank.
I'm still running V3, wether this is conflicting or not I don't know?
dropoutsmax, are you running just V5? or V3 also like me?
I have noticed this behaviour as well: where the text is blank and mousing over the usage bars does not show anything. I have posted a screenshot
I have noticed this behaviour as well: where the text is blank and mousing over the usage bars does not show anything.
I haven't noticed this with the latest 5.0.x versions (yet) but did get this with the older versions – /forum-replies.cfm?t=1000709&r=26697089#r26697089
Another issue I've noticed, which I can't pinpoint to AAUM however it's only a recent occurance with AAUM being the only change, is that when I go to restart my computer it says it's waiting for sidebar.exe
I'm running W7 64 Ult.
So i presume with the lack of plan text and non mouse over functioning combined with the sidebar.exe problem, AAUM's falling over somewhere.
I've yet to determine if the sidebar.exe thing happens with a fully functioning gadget, however when i reboot next, i'll take notice.
(I tend not to reboot too often however, so perhaps others are able to confirm/deny this)
Another thing is I am running both V3 and V5 side by side and both appear to work fine for some period, it's only after some duration (idk a day?) that V5 ceases to work 100%
I've yet to determine if the sidebar.exe thing happens with a fully functioning gadget, however when i reboot next, i'll take notice.
Ok I've rebooted with both gadgets running 100% and I did not get the 'waiting for sidebar.exe' issue.
I've just ceased running V3, so will see how it all behaves now.
I have noticed this behavior as well: where the text is blank and mousing over the usage bars does not show anything. I have posted a screenshot
http://users.adam.com.au/brocko5/AUMV506blank.jpg
Hey guys just had the same issue too without v3 running alongside. Not sure yet what is causing it since it seems to take a long time to appear which makes it really difficult to debug.
It is strange because I run sidebar with debugging enabled and no errors or warnings were thrown at all just the tool-tip didn't appear. But otherwise it seemed to function fine.
I am going to try and find the source of the problem over the next few days.
Until then you can just close and reopen the gadget and everything should be back to normal for some time. Obviously this isn't acceptable but it will have to do until I can get a fix out.
On another note I have an experimental build that shows usage graphs in a flyout. I will paste it here in a day or so any help testing would be appreciated. I am not going to push this version out as an update until it has been tested more.
Had a API error before now its just saying Invalid Credentials, Tried a different token still no go tho.
Nearly 24hrs later still no change. I'm just going to run V3.3 until it ceases to work. It was 100% stable
Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling?
Nope and cbf tbh. V5's only good for a day or so, then it loses it's text anyway.
I'm just going to run V3.3 until it ceases to work.
Please note, since changes were made to the way we handle data blocks internally, the old usage feed will no longer display them.

It appears to be running fine, same as always to me
It appears to be running fine, same as always to me
Any data blocks purchased up until around 9.30 on Tuesday morning will appear in the old feed but not anything after that.
The UM feed that is being used by older utilities has been marked as deprecated and will be removed next week some time.

Should I have an upload usage bar? All I have is days remaining, download usage and new groups. Version 5.0.6, Win 64 bit, IE9, easy choice 100GB
Should I have an upload usage bar?
No. Unless your planning too upload more than you download (which you might) it shouldn't really matter.
All the other usage meter developers will need to update now – Firefox Net Usage Item and BikeMike's Usage Meter are two I regularly use that obviously now no longer work.
Can't work out why Victor Tan's (Netgeek) 'Adam Checker' still works though and reports my correct usage?!
No. Unless your planning too upload more than you download (which you might) it shouldn't really matter.
I still like to know what my upload usage is with out having to log into the members area.
Would still be good to know how much one has uploaded, even if it is not counted.
Why does it matter if it's not counted ?
Why does it matter if it's not counted ?
Because I would like to monitor it. Aren't uploads counted by some acceptable use policy or something?

Yes...that is correct.

Hi any updates on this? for me V5 is still bugging out (the text dissapearing thing)
Aren't uploads counted by some acceptable use policy or something?
Uploads on EzyChoice plans fall under an AUP, yes, however because of this we also maintain a separate notification system for customers so that they can still be up to date on their upload usage. This system is not opt-in and applies to all EzyChoice accounts.
Through development and testing of the iPhone App last year, we found that displaying uploads was confusing to customers, particular those on plans where they do not apply (it's not entirely surprising to us that quite a number of customers aren't familiar with the term 'upload') and as such are not displayed.
- Dy

Where can I find this then?

Very true.
Where can I find this then?
It is not an opt-in feature, rather a watermark notification system. You receive an email when you are on your way to exceeding the AUP as well as when you exceed it, similar to how the quota notifications system currently works.

You probably could have told me to check my usage graphs in the members area. Which is what the email takes me too.
So with 100gb downloads, what does the AUP cover in terms of uploads? When I first looked at it, it was up to 200gb up, but looks like I get email warning at 100gb uploaded.

As above, similar to the quota notification, you receive a threshold warning when your uploads exceed both your download quota and download usage:
This is an automated notification to inform you that the upload data usage on your account *<login>* (Customer ID: <customer id>) has exceeded your monthly data quota. As per Adam Internet's Acceptable Use Policy, any upload data usage that exceeds twice the amount of your download usage and exceeds your quota is considered to be excessive use and Adam Internet reserves the right to suspend or disconnect your service upon repeat offenses.
To avoid uploading twice the amount of your download usage, it is recommended that you monitor your data usage through the Members Services Area usage graphs available here: https://members.adam.com.au/usage.
You also receive notification when you are in breech of the AUP when your uploads exceed both your download usage quota and double your download quota usage (my bad):
This is an automated notification to inform you that the upload data usage on your account *<login>* (Customer ID: <customer id>) has exceeded twice the amount of your download usage and exceeded your monthly data quota. As per Adam Internet's Acceptable Use Policy, any upload data usage that exceeds twice the amount of your download usage and exceeds your monthly data quota is considered to be excessive use and Adam Internet reserves the right to suspend or disconnect your service upon repeat offenses.
To avoid repeat occurrences in the future, it is recommended that you monitor and review your data usage through the Members Services Area usage graphs available here: https://members.adam.com.au/usage.
Two separate emails, one informing you that if you continue with your present usage pattern, you may be in breach and one stating that you are in breach.
Of course, you can upload as much as you like over your quota, as long as your downloads exceed your uploads.
- Dy
So if I did 10gb down, and did 30gb up, it's going to email me anyway? But I would have to go over 200gb up, while under 100gb down to breach the AUP?

Sorry I haven't updated in a while been really busy with work and I got stuck on the annoying bug that was causing the tooltip info to disappear randomly. I think I just found a fix (it was an obscure IE css rendering bug) so I will test it overnight tonight and if everything is ok I will push the update out.
If that is finally fixed I will be able to continue working on adding the usage graphs I just got stuck on that bug and wanted to fix it first, I'm really annoyed about getting stuck on that but what can you do.
Thanks for being patient while I have been fixing the bugs.
Ok look forward to it. Thanks for the communication.

I presume you mean ongoing errors. If so, what errors are you experiencing as there are no current issues with AdamAPI as far as I can tell.
Are you able to provide any more information?

Ok so the text disappearing issue hasn't happened yet so I think it may be fixed (sorry about the uncertainty but it is a really difficult bug to test since it only happens randomly after a day or so).
AAUMv5 5.0.7
Download Link: http://users.adam.com.au/galbraith/aaum/AAUMv5.gadget
Changes
- Updated jQuery from 1.5.1 to 1.6.1
- Hopefully (fingers crossed) fixed the issue with the tooltip text disappearing
- Other minor cleanup see github for full list

Hi, sorry I can't provide much info. The gadget just says 'Adam Api Error Code 001' and does not display any usage graphs at all.
This happened about 2-3 weeks ago for several users also. It's been like for over 48 hrs now (my pc has not rebooted during that time)
I think it may be fixed
looks good on my comp atm
it's funny how you really miss things when you dont have them anymore
thanks

Are you able to email me (my address is on my profilfe) your token so that I can have a look for you as there are no reported issues with the API at this time.

I'm not getting any API errors either and there isn't any notices out about downtime currently.
When the gadget receives an API error it will check the feed every 30mins and if the error goes away then it will work again. Try going to gadget settings then click ok, that will force a reload of the feed. Otherwise as Michael said it may be an issue with the feed itself.

Hi, Sorry, after writing about the API Error I switched to the latest AAUM :) ....So far this has been running for 12hrs+ but if an ongoing API error occurs again I'll email you my token.
For some reason I cannot get the latest version to work? I keep getting an "Invalid Credentials" message :o(
I have checked the token and it is correct, I have even generated a new one but still I can't get it to connect, any ideas?
Womble
Hi Womble,
That error means your token is incorrect which is strange.
What version were you running previously was it v5 or v3? I didn't alter the login code at all between version 5.0.6 and 5.0.7.
^ Is that what you did to set up the token?
Try going to https://members.adam.com.au/api/ then enter your token as the password and leave the username blank. It should display your usage as an xml file. If it doesn't work then something strange is going on and I'll forward it onto Michael.
That is what i did to set it up. no idea what the problem is though cause I redid the token and it still came up with the same error.
Had a go at that link you provided and got the error the first time but it gave me the xml readout on the second go? Redid the AAUM again and now it reads after using the link you provided?
Think the problem is at the Adam end.
Ok now that the tool-tip bug seems to be worked out here is the version with usage graphs. Click on the usage bar (for example the blue Download Usage bar) to display the usage graph panel.

Nice work!!
Not being greedy, but would you be able to have a crack at something like this – /forum-replies.cfm?t=1479950 ? xEnt seems to have let it lapse.

I don't really have the time right now.
Looking at the MUM screens it wouldn't be that hard to reproduce except for the Network tab and some of the Settings tabs like Radio and Email. The other tabs would be fairly straight forward since the info is in the feed.
I could have a crack at it but I would write it in C# not Java (my Java is really rusty) and it would be Windows only.
Any chance of this getting updated so as to work with the limited offer 200GB ezychoice plan?
edit: or does this require an api update from Adam?
EDIT: Ignore this post, just took some time to update..
Mine has stopped working properly – noticed it yesterday, last day of billing period and now today it just shows "undefined". Maybe it's got confused with the leap year?
Just getting in on this now....
I had trouble logging in too (using v5.1.0) and my problem was that when I copied the token from the site by highlighting and CTRL+C, I also got a tab character at the beginning. Once I deleted the tab character I logged in no problem. So if you are having problems, paste to notpad and check you don't have any extra characters at the start or end! Or just type in the token :-)
It appears that there is a significant security issue with Windows gadgets and/or Sidebar. So far the only solution offered by Microsoft is a Fixit to disable Sidebar. M$ appears to be abandoning gadgets, so there may not be a security patch.
Is there a working alternative to AAUM?

Thanks. I'm not a FF user, but it looks like I may have to be.
I made a Adam Usage meter for Rainmeter if you are interested. You can download it here:

I am currently working on an updated version.

Enjoy.
So when will the update be ready? Looks pretty good actually. It is handy to have it on the desk top.
Are there any 'tricks' to getting this working properly? I'm a Rainmeter noob, have installed it and got other 'widgets' running but the Adam one isn't coming up with my usage info. I've created a token in the member's area and inserted it in the right spot as it says to do, refreshed but still no luck.

There are no 'tricks' to getting the skin working. As long as you have entered your token in the "AdamUsage.inc" file and not entered a user name it should work. Ensure there is a space between the quotes at the UserName line as follows: UserName=" "
Hi,
I think I may have suggested this once before but am unsure and far too lazy to search my previous posts :)
Would be sweet if the gagdet had a simple resize option, Where you could set 100%, 125% etc etc ...in the same way the All CPU and GPU meters have on addgadget.com
Thanks
Argghhh I upgraded to windows 8 and now I don't have the usage meter anymore :(
Can anyone be awesome and make an app for Win8!? Or some other method suitable for Win8! Thank you :)
Hey guys,
Adam has switched over to a different system for their member service area now. the actual service looks a lot better, but they don't have a token management system in place anymore. Is there any continuing development on this app (it's easily my most used gadget and I'll check it at least daily), or is it possible to go back to the old system before tokens?
I think we have to wait until adam releases a final product for tracking usage, then i'm sure someone will do a usage meter to suit

It appears the token management is still there, just no links to it, you have to use the right url
https://members.adam.com.
works as of posting
Actually this will not work..
Adam are in the process of implementing a new system, so the old API tokens etc no longer function.
You will also find that you can no longer login to your members area (Toolbox you can ..and you can check usage from there)
Unfortunately we just have to wait until the new infastructure is implemented, and we can use a new token on the gadget.

I believe they are migrating customers in batches. I have not been migrated yet so the token manager still works and so do any usage apps that use tokens.

I can still log in to the members area and my usage sidebar widget is still working but beyond reviewing existing tokens I've not tried creating a new one.

iiNet will migrate you to their infrastructure some time soon and both of these will stop unfortunately.
Based on my experiments with NetUsageItem, the infrastructure is there for the old style username/password authentication – but it appears to simply be disabled at present.

I have an open helpdesk request with Adam/iiNet (help request to Adam got a response from iiNet!) to re-enable this facility (asked them to forward to the appropriate dept, as it isn't something helpdesk themselves can resolve). Am awaiting a response. If more people send in similar requests, it might help get this re-enabled.
I have an open helpdesk request with Adam/iiNet
Well, I _thought_ I had an open request – turned out once checking via toolbox they'd closed it without bothering to contact me. I'll just keep on prodding them until I get the courtesy of an actual response.
Speaking of no longer functioning, those who have been migrated to the iiNet infastructure, will find the adam FTP settings no longer work (perhaps those who haven't been migrated either)
The new FTP Settings are;
Host: members.iinet.net.au
Username: YourAdamUsername@adam.com.au
Pass: Your Adam Account Password
Port: 21
Then your personal website becomes:
YourAdamUsername@adam.com.au
Yeah, fugly :)
I can't believe i'm updating the info here, instead of iiNet doing it on their own webpages.
Also whilst I'm bitching lol, The Toolbox area only shows Peak, Offpeak and Free Data. It does not display Upload usage grr (I have a ticket in presently regarding this)
There's an answer to the usage meters over here: /forum-replies.cfm?t=2271809&p=2#r35
The references link to a PDF which describe the json structure. That should provide sufficient info to help get the AAUM app updated.
The old Adam usage XML feed would fall into the same category as the iiNet XML feed – namely is being retired in favour of the json one.
Also whilst I'm bitching lol, The Toolbox area only shows Peak, Offpeak and Free Data.
Aren't services now including uploads in monthly quota? I suppose this only applies if you've moved to one of the new post-iiNet acquisition plans, though.

No idea, seems neither do they. (as I have contacted them regarding where the upload data can be obtained, several times)
If that's the case, then we're getting even less value....
After near on 6 years with Adam, I think i'll be leaving.
It's just been one flap up after another of late.
Aren't services now including uploads in monthly quota?
I could be wrong (and frequently am!), but comparing the figures from the iiUsage application against the figures on the volume usage page in the toolbox (including the CSV file), it all seems to match up.
While toolbox does not list uploads, iiUsage does. I have one day where the uploads are greater (almost double) that of the Anytime figure, so from that I'd suggest the uploads are not being counted as part of the monthly quota.
I recall Adam made some changes quite some time ago (2-3 years ago) when the EzyChoice plans came in and uploads weren't counted, and they removed display of uploads for a period of time, but later added them again. It may just be a setting on their end.
I get the feeling, though, that now Adam is under the iiNet umbrella, customers pushing for changes will fall on deaf ears far more often than they did when Adam was a separate entity.
While toolbox does not list uploads,
I do see upload data, under the dashboard usage section is a link "Manage (account name)" which shows not only detailed download + upload, but also shows "freezone" usage which replaces Adam's "unmetered", which was quite literally unmetered, so I had no idea until now what proportion of our usage fell within this category.
