Am looking at buying a flash for Sony A100, buty have not dealt with Ryda dot com previously. Anyone able to share their experieces?
I bought an 450d body, it all went fine. I did send them an email or two a month earlier with some questions but they never replied.
I've purchased a Canon PowerShot SX1 from them on Monday, order was dispatched yesterday so I'm currently waiting for it to arrive. Customer service was excellent and their prices are extremely competitive.
Spent over $10,000 there in the last 6 months.
Could not fault the service, nor the price.
Highly recommended.
I just received an order from Ryda, new Panasonic battery for my TZ7 and 2 Panasonic class6 16GB SD cards (they were out of Sandisk Extreme III). Was a bit worried they wouldn't make it here in time for my trip but I ordered on Friday, they arrived this morning (Wednesday). Only odd thing is the SD cards came minus packaging.
They're pretty damn good, although I've only ever used their B&M store... just use their online store for pricing to see if it's worth going to Stanmore :)
Thanks to everyone who has replied. I must admit I am impressed with customer service so far – answered all my questions quickly and without fuss. Only thing now is for me to decide between Sony & Metz brands and place the order I guess.

Ive been looking for a Digi Camcorder.. Ryda's prices look very good compared to the rest – Apart from grey importers/HK sellers...
Ive gotta stop myself from buying from one of these overseas sellers.. Ryda really looks like a good option. I just hope they are good with warranty if anything goes wrong.
I just use them to get price matches at DSE & Harvey Norman. Would never buy that kind of thing from a website, or small company.

They would hopefully be a bit more reliable than the masses grey import/asia import websites that grace the internet, yeah?
I've bought both a Garmin Edge 705 and a Canon IXUS100 plus a few accessories for each from them, both times they've been top notch in turnaround time.
I bought my Panasonic FT1 and LX3 from them, and was really pleased with their prices and super-fast delivery.
Yep Ryda are very good, just call and check they have stock if you don't want to wait an extra 4 days or so if they don't have it on the shelf.

Ryda used to have outlets all over the place only a few years ago – including big drive-in car audio installation places. I suspect that someone in management decided that "going internet only" (although they still have one store in Petersham) would increase profits.
I've been to there shop and in a polite way, worst service ever!
As someone previously mentioned, use them for price matching.

Do you find that DSE and HN match them every time or does it really depend on the product?
I ordered the 7D from Ryda online.. Once the order was made I get an email saying they don't have any stock of the 7D, they're waiting for Canon Australia to release the camera. 1 month and 2 days later, still waiting for the stupid thing to arrive. Really wish they had told me there wasn't any stock on their website, I would have just ordered it from somewhere else. frustrating.

Did you buy recently and is it Australian stock? I'm looking to get one from them too. Also, do they provide a GST invoice? I'm looking to claim back the GST when going overseas.

Yes, it's Australian stock. I bought the FT1 a couple of months ago and the LX3 about 4 weeks ago, and yes, they supply an invoice.
Like others have said... just use live help to confirm they have the item in stock before placing your order. I had both items dispatched the day I ordered, and delivered the next day. I was really happy with their service.

Ryda have been operating for at least 30 years and I would much perfer to get stuff from them than from Hardly Normals. DSE I will tolerate.
After reading the info here I ordered a digital camera (Canon IXUS 120 IS) from Ryda.
I ordered it on Saturday and it arrived on Tuesday.
I'm VERY happy with the service and with the deal I got :-)
Used Ryda last week... ordered a proprietary li-ion battery and high capacity/high speed SD card... they had the best price out of about half a dozen stores that stocked what i wanted... and on top of that ended up with great service... delivered within a day.
+ Positive
Before buying from an online store I search the net for others experiences, after reading this thread I went ahead and made the purchase from their website.
Certainly a positive experience and I would recommend to others.
I bought my 7d from ryda, took 3-4 days to process due to stock, once i saw shipment confirmation, i called them and they said 1-2 days. Friday afternoon at 4pm i was worried i wasnt gonna get it for the weekend, called ryda who got back to me within around 10-20minutes saying it was on the last run, 20 minutes later i got my camera :)
they have great prices, and throw in good free stuff.
very happy :)
i bought a headunit from them
they didnt have it in stock so they offered a 'similar' model for $100 more. i checked the features and it seemed ok but the mistake was in my part because i was looking at an overseas model. the aus model had a lot less features and isnt very responsive.
so i guess.. shipping is ok but if you cant get what you want, go elsewhere
Ordered a canon 85mm 1.8 usm lens from them last week. It arrived yesterday. Mostly a positive experience.
I have only one complaint – the lens is listed on their site as IS, and is listed on my invoice as IS, but is not IS. Turns out there is in fact no IS version of this lens. If I had done my homework I would have known this before purchase, so I am willing to take some amount of blame. But I still find it a bit deceptive.
question – if you're interstate and have just bought an item from them, and it turns out to be a lemon (ie: a DSLR body of some sort), can you go to the manufacturer directly (ie: Canon) for warranty claims, or do you have to send the item back to Ryda for them to take care of the problem?
Does anyone know if local retailers in Melbourne price match with Ryda considering they have a bricks & mortar store in NSW. They're prices seem to go down every few weeks to a month.
I've just placed an order with Ryda. Purchased a Canon 60D with 18-200mm lens. Did lot of research and found them to the cheapest. Compared them against Grey Online Hong Kong stores (like T-Dimension and eGlobal) and weighed up the pros and cons.
Ended up coming to the conclusion that "IF" I get stung with extra costs of customs and GST taxes with a grey import (as the goods is over $1000) – and – also purchasing an extended international warranty (Mack) – it would have costed more to purhase a grey import, rather than buying from Ryda (which comes with the Canon Australian warranty).
I'm based in Perth, and the goods are shipped with Australian Air Express. So should take a couple of days to deliver. So looking forward to that.
Rang them up to confirm that good were in stock before I placed my order, and IF something does go wrong with the camera, then I just deal directly with my local Canon authorised repairer.
I've attempted to purchase through Ryda. Handed over my money, then was told there would be 3 week wait for my lens. Money was refunded in about 3 days.
Reviving an old thread. I ordered a lens from them last thursday night, placed 21/06/2012 at 09:36PM to be exact. I got a confirmation email and my money has been taken (paypal). I havent heard anything since :s is this normal?
hmm, i logged into my account and it says 'processing'. Wonder if that means its out of stock.
What lens was it? Sometimes I think they don't keep everything in stock but will order it from say canon, and it may take 3-4 days for them to get it and then send it out to you.
I was looking for a new home phone set for my house, because I was tired of using the old Telstra one.
Bought the Gigaset/Siemens A510A Duo for $118.85 from Ryda (via PayPal). I Googled for a coupon code and found one for free shipping. Ordered on 1:54pm Friday the 18th. Dispatched on 5:01pm the same day. This morning I have already received the package. That's crazy fast imo as I live in Victoria and Ryda is from NSW I believe. Box has minor scratches/marks and the phones I'm using are working fine so far. It has the receipt inside it in case there's issues later on.
So for buying home phones I can say the experience was positive. Quick delivery/dispatch time with no dramas. This was also the first time I purchased from them, so I am really happy about this purchase.
I purchased a video camcorder that turned out to be faulty. They were very quick to rectify by replacing it with one that worked...no problems at all. Naturally, I would buy from them again.
Twice I rang to ask about camera items which they advertised on their website and both times they have denied the item's existence in-store.
How dodgy would that be if you buy it online and they don't have it.
The items were discontinued so they wouldn't have been able to get it anyways.
Bought a car stereo from them – easy, fast, cheap and got exactly what I ordered. No complaints here.
Purchased Canon 5D2 and then later a lens at their bricks and mortar store. No problems, no sales tricks. One of the cheapest places in Sydney for Australian stock Canon. Do not stock the very high end lenses. Recommended.
I have purchased a couple of years ago from Ryda and had no complaints so bought another camera yesterday at 12.32 pm. It was in my hands before midday today in northern NSW. Very happy.
Their camcorder batteries (at least, the one I want) are $80 off RRP. Anyone ordered any? Are they the real deal?
ordered a Garmin Forerunner 620 GPS watch through there a week ago. Best price on the market (420 vs Garmin website 499, vs shops 485, vs. JB's 450), next day delivery to WA.
Couldn't be happier. Would recommend.
I ordered a genuine Nikon batteries and SD cards from them. They didn't have the SD cards I wanted in stock, so they gave me a better card for the same price!
I have just ordered a lens through their ebay store today. Will try and remember to update this thread with the experience, good/bad/indifferent.
Bought using paypal, so at least some recourse if it all goes pear-shaped. Yes, my cup is always half empty, I know.
