I assume you've connected them via a DVI to HDMI cable? If so then the reason you aren't getting sound is because DVI doesn't deliver sound, you need to also hook up the headphones/digital/optical sound out of your laptop to your TV.

Try going into Control panel and to Sound an ensure you have your playback device set to digital output.

I send audio to my Samsung LCD TV through the HDMI cable without problems.

most hdmi to hdmi via cable hook up can produce visual and sound just got to figure out the settings in the control panel if useing pc/laptop in my case it was dell 1526 laptop to bravia lcd tv.

can also now do video confrencing if needed onto the big lcd "i feel like rove"

Can anyone please explain how you were able to fix the sound when watching a video on youtube? I can get sound fine when I watch a video I have saved on my computer or a dvd, but whenever I want to watch youtube or anything else that has an online video, the sound comes through the speakers on the laptop. I have the HDMI audio set to default, so that's not the problem.

Thanks!

I'm new here, please be nice it can easily be enabled by holding down left mouse on volume icon, selecting playback devices, and then selecting HDMI audio as default device. Remember, you will have to restart any programs to enable them to use HDMI
