Why would you invest in an exchange that already has providers for ADSL2+ and therefore have lots of competition. |

We are able to offer a 2G plan, and still turn over a reasonable profit using our own network - it is simply not possible with Telstra at the moment. |

Is this one of the solutions you mentioned? Yeah, they make good money off wholesale so as usual, who can work them out. They have been like kids with toys. "You can't play with my toys because, because, they’re mine!" Never any logic with them. Hopefully the prices are competitive with the real world. (Unlike their own ADSL2 pricing) |

The articles I’ve read suggested that Telstra never said it wouldn’t wholesale ADSL2+ they just weren’t prepared to do it until they wouldn’t be forced to sell at regulated prices. I would be happy to get ADSL2+ as no one is going to build in my exchange so many choices is better than just Bigpond. |

I have a similar problem to others. My exchange 'Canterbury' is listed as active, it is also listed as available on the aaNet check page; " Next Generation ADSL2+ services are available in your area – Click to view plans." So I click plans and the option to change is simply not there, I only see a list of ADSL1 plans. What is going on here? I want to upgrade wile its available and I simply cannot!!! |

I really don't see the point of the 'Check Your Number' facility on the aaNet web site for current aaNet users. When I use this facility it tells me: It is my understanding that the only way for me to change to adsl2 is to try to change my plan in the members section every few days or so until at last the adsl2 plans appear as one of my choices. Success using the aaNet 'Check Your Number' facility is a *necessary* but not *sufficent* condition for changing to adsl2. |

It is my understanding that the only way for me to change to adsl2 is to try to change my plan in the members section every few days or so until at last the adsl2 plans appear as one of my choices. Or you could just look at the change plans plans where it tells you whether you are on Telstra or aaNet/EFTel hardware. You can't select an ADSL2+ plan until your exchange has been migrated across from Telstra. Success using the aaNet 'Check Your Number' facility is a *necessary* but not *sufficent* condition for changing to adsl2. That is correct. I really don't see the point of the 'Check Your Number' facility on the aaNet web site for current aaNet users. There is no point beyond showing them whether their exchange has been enabled. Ideally the member's area should show when your particular exchange is due to be migrated, though I can't see that happening for a number of reasons. |

My exchange is being installed now but I am on the aaOptus ADSL2+ Jason's last answer on this was that they did not yet have a plan to migrate us over to the new equipment. I'm guessing this will change as it must be more cost effective for aaNet in the longer term to have us on their MSAN. Once I see the work is complete at my exchange I plan to give them a call. I'll post how it turns out. And yeah, go easy on the whirlcode brother, I threw a fit while reading that one! |

My exchange is being installed now but I am on the aaOptus ADSL2+ The problem is that you are currently on Optus ULL – your telephone line is physically on the Optus Network. There is no simple way to change someone from another carrier's ULL network to our own ADSL2+ network – using LSS. The only real way I know of would be to transfer your home telephone to Telstra, have your ADSL2 service disconnected, and then order an aaNet ADSL2+ service. I suspect that if we do our own ULL based service that the transfer process should be a lot easier, and with much less downtime, but at this stage there is no effective transfer process. If you are on Optus hardware the only ADSL2+ plans available to you are the ones in your members area. The wholesale cost for Optus based services is more than using our own network, as well as the fact we have to pay per mbit for backhaul on the Optus network. Jason |

The original build plan target was 15 exchanges a month, could you post if this target is being achieved as I've seen little in the way of updates after following the posted lists for some time now. There is a list here of active exchanges. Migrations were submitted to Telstra for existing customers on the following exchanges mid last week, so I expect the ability to order plan changes will update within the next week. How about Newtown in Toowoomba Qld Jason, Got no idea how they work it out, but unless you're all in a high uptake area I'd expect an exchange with only 18000 numbers in it's range would be low on the priority list... :( |

So, as I see it, for the moment my only option for adsl2+ is still only Telstra. :( [edit] see link for exchange info I found the highlighted OPEL information at the bottom very interesting. |

When it say's under-constuction, usually what period of time would that mean? weeks/months? Because I'm on the CPHL (Camp Hill) exchange in Bris, and it say's "under constuction". Do they provide you with ETA's on the completion dates? Thanks. |

I found the highlighted OPEL information at the bottom very interesting. Which means you will probably never get anther provider other than telstra now on that exchange. |

I noticed my exchange (Glen Iris) has been scheduled for ADSL2 by BroadbandNext which includes aaNet. Can anyone tell me when it is scheduled for? I was unable to find any dates on either aaNet or EFTel websites |

Can anyone tell me when it is scheduled for? I was unable to find any dates on either aaNet or EFTel websites I don't think that information is publically available yet. Still, maybe someone from Aanet could answer your question. |

I noticed my exchange (Glen Iris) has been scheduled for ADSL2 by BroadbandNext which includes aaNet. I have checked the aaNet web site and it thinks my exchange has ADSL+2, however if I go to change plans there is no option for ADSL+2. |

I agree with the people in those posts that aaNet should only show the exchanges as available when you can ACTUALLY purchase them. It is rather misleading. So which site can we use to check if an exchange is active: http://www.aanet.com.au/bbne |

So which site can we use to check if an exchange is active: http://www.aanet.com.au/bbnext_alpha.html That one lists exchanges that are active and taking orders for new customers. For existing customers the only way to check is via the plan change section of your members area. Jason |

BTW Jason after talking a couple of months ago about Ballarat exchange and possible backhaul problems, you should maybe consider the Vic governments own backhaul fibre that is apparently not being used much (article last week in the Ballarat newspaper). Which goes to Ballarat. It's called VERN (Victorian Education Research Network) and is mainly for researches and scientists ect but with the dramtic under use reported in the paper theres maybe a opportunity for the commercial ventures to use the fibre? Unlikely but..... Here's there website http://www.vernet.net.au/public/ |

The aanet number checker states "Next Generation ADSL2+ services are available in your area – Click to view plans." However, every other source points to the ORMD exchange still being "Planned". So what's the deal, broken number checker? |

The aanet number checker states "Next Generation ADSL2+ services are available in your area "- Click to view plans. There you go. They didn't say whose ADSL services! And a nice picture of a young JasonM in his cape. |
