Hey guys i've just been given about $300 worth of vouchers from jb hifi for my birthday and i've been looking at getting an ipod touch sometime soon. I know Apple are pretty good at keeping secrets but does anyone know if they plan on updating the current ipod touch or even a price drop coming up soon? The last thing i want to happen is for me to buy one and 2 weeks from now it gets updated or the price gets cut.
Thanks.

Well, there will be new Firmware but no idea about a new model. I doubt it though.
If you had cash, I'd say wait, because you would be able to get all the old 2G iPhones going for ~$350AU
However, since they're vouchers, you're probably safe with buying an iPod Touch now.

The 8GB might drop to around that price, not the 16GB though (going by the iPod Touch AUD prices). That will probably still stay at around $500.
Oh, and eBay. The 2.5G phones won't be sold here from all reports.

I was thinking the old 4/8GB iPhones might be going around $300AUD (on eBay) when the 3G iPhone is released...maybe not?
As I said, I'd get one of them if you had cash, as I doubt they'll sell the old 2.5G iPhones in stores. You don't have cash, so you'll be fine with an iPod Touch.

Yeah thanks for that reply, knowing my luck though i'll buy an ipod touch then they'll bring down the price or offer more storage for the same price. Thats the thing i'm worries about, i think it might be due for either an upgrade or price cut. ah the choices!

It's all the same with electronic goods... just go with the flow and stop stalling :)
Hey, it's not as painful as the graphics card market - you've got an easy choice ;)

Yeah good point. Although i heard that next month they'll announce the 3g iphone so i thought they might announce something for the ipod touch as well.

Like mentioned above, it is probably unlikely that they will introduce a whole new model, most likely a firmware update if anything. If you can hold out until WWDC (9th June) I would at least wait that long, otherwise just get it now and it might only be $20 or whatever for the firmware update.
