HI gang

I'm looking for a good cheap (if they exist) reliable aDSL cnonection for my mother, I know of Internode and am with them but they are too dear for her and she wants to bundle phone if possible?

She has Telstra home phone and is on a old age pension so they maybe better value, not sure of the fees and whether it's better for her phone, not including VoIP. I thought to get her on Bigpond as well but they have crap deals, she has a G4 iMac and I have donated a Billion 7401vgp wireless router to her so setup is cheaper ...any suggestions?

thank you.

OK:

* How much are you willing to pay?
* And what exchange is she on - put the number into adsl2exchanges.com.au

Sorry, she is on the Corrimal (NSW) exchange like me which is crap with very little or no aDSL2 so aDSL1 is most likely the go?

I have put a request throught to Comcen but my feeling is that they will say no?

OK, so you have a choice between Bigpond ADSL2+ or Optus Wholesale ADSL2+ or standard ADSL.

Netspace have a ADSL2+ 5GB+5GB plan ($40/mo bundled) which may suit.

Westnet also have some good plans

You may want to stick with the bigger providers for your mum, as you probably need a rock solid connection so she doesn't have to spend to much time talking to tech support.

Yes, but there hasn't exactly been a lot of happy aanet users lately. Actually, quite a lot of ISPs are having a bit or retribution of their users, while we are on that topic

EDIT: remove pointlessness.

Yes, but there hasn't exactly been a lot of happy aanet users lately and the aura of the aa reps has plummeted to "Low" after the removal of fast churn from customer's plans.

The aura for the main aaNet rep is "Pervasively Light".

The aaNet kickstart plans may be an option, but you do pay a high connection fee and who knows how long the pricing will remain!

What about iiNet? 256k, 500MB peak+1GB offpeak, shaped afterwards, $30+$30 line rental. $10 extra for 512k and 2GB+2GB. She'll probably be more comfortable with a larger provider too (better support?).

I though John Lane was the primary rep? Oh well.

It's not easy, $30 max is the most she is willing to pay & doesn't want to use a credit/debit card either, wants a bill like the Telstra one ...am almost lost to which one to get?

thank you!

Now that makes it harder!

Optus?

Maybe keep the Telstra homephone and use a wireless internet plan? 3 have a 2GB plan for $29 + $2 for a paper bill (per month, 24mth contract).

www.three.com.au/threest...d/USBCap15.xhtml

You'll have to check if she gets 3 reception.
