the only issue with garbled calls is that some users have an issue with G729.

there is no issue with garbled calls & G711 codecs.

@ the OP

Are you using G711 as your 1st and only priority, have you turned all others to 'Non-Used' ?

You are quite right there, except that when I use G711a or u, I get the two sharp bips with a subsequent disconnection. And that was with the latest firmware update.

Went back to 5.52b, changed to G729, no garbled calls except when someone rings on my DID. Still get the two sharp bips and a disconnection with PSTN. The last disconnection was a call from the ATO. (Maybe be it was a sign).

There have been numerous adverse threads here about the 7404 and I am inclined to agree with them.

My friend is using a Linksys modem/router and 3102 ATA. He is connected with GoTalk on the same speed, as myself on aanet, namely 512. He has not experienced any problems with his VOIP.

Aanet is rock solid but I'm still experiencing these problems. Maybe it's MyNetFone but I have a feeling that it's more likely that it's 7404 firmware.

I did considerable research on Billion and Linksys before making the decision to buy Billion. It's great but not for VOIP in my case.
