hey guys,

just wondering if anyone has had the same problem as me, and if so, how they rectified it.

long story short, my linksys ag241 died, when it was still going good, i was getting around 50kbps (im only on crappy adsl) which i was more than happy with, i rang up node and said "hey my modem/router is dead, hook me up with a new one."

Node obliged and sent me out this open networks iconnect 625, i went thru and opened up the port etc. etc.

i have the little green tick, up comes the new episode of lost today with like 328473289476329 people seeding, and im getting <15kbps, not only that, its not a constant speed, its like 0.4, 1.5, 4.6, 2.5, 10.2.. etc every second the speed fluctuates..

im @ my wits end here, if anyone knows of anything i can try or has had the same problem as me, im eager to hear your post..

thanks heaps in advance,

matt

Reduce the total peers in uTorrent, as thats overloading it's NAT table.

Or get a more powerful router like the Billion 740x series.

Use the Speed Guide.

Lower the net.max_halfopen to below 10

hey guys, thanks for the info,

i reduced the peers from 90 to 60
and
the net.max_halfopen was already under 10

but the speed is still <10kpbs and not constant. :(

is there anything else i can try?

thanks

matt

Hi Satsok!

If you are with Internode, why are you bothering with torrents anyway? You have access to free Premium Usenet.

Absolutely.

Not only that, files download at the maximum speed of your connection and you don't have to share anything.

hrmm, its has me wondering, but torrents seem better because the premium usenet sounds too legit.. like i download some tv shows not shown in australia etc.

set max upload rate to no more than 80% of your total available upload bandwidth supplied by your isp

eg

if you connection is

1500/254

245k is your upload connection speed = 25kbps upload rate x 80% = about 20kbps , to be safe use 16kbps

If you don't need other pc's on the network, like during the night, bridge the opennw to your pc. It will then work without having to be controlled by the router. Make sure you have the firewall set though as you are then fully exposed to the internet.

Open modems sourced from aztech (621-625) all seem to be very poor on p2p. They just don't have much memory in them.

I use an iConnect 625W at home, it will easily max out my connection on popular torrents, no manual port forwarding (just using UnPnP)

No body here would recommend DLink ;)

At MSY i'd get the Netcomm NB6Plus4W $97 Or even better the Billion 740x series.

Personally, I beg to differ ;) but agreed, these two are great modems for the money.
