If you can post the line stats from your modem we'll be able to find out where the problem may lie (if any) - att & SNR values are important.

Also ensure the modem is the only device plugged in - no filters/phones/foxtel/other telephony devices - and then take another set of figures.

This will depend greatly on the model of modem that you have and even your O/S

If you'd prefer I can organise one of our Support Team to give you a call and troubleshoot the problem further, simply whim me some contact details (or call 1300 786 068).

Regards,
Karl

Which modem is it, GaryY?

Do a download test from 3fl.net.au/speedtest as well.

Online speedtests are notoriously unreliable and can fluctuate dramatically - I would never really trust their results. Sync speeds and downloading from your ISP's file mirror are usually the best ways to determine your actual throughput.

Exactly. Follow what saiphon said in his post and download one of the files from 3FL. That will give a much better indication as to whether there is a problem or not.

If you have not allready been told. Simply type "10.0.0.1" in the address bar to get to your modem settings. You do not even have to login to check

On one of the side menu's there will be "Wan status" "Dsl status" "PPP Status" or something along those lines listing the info you need.

-Edit-
Nevermind. I must be blind. Missed your above post lol

Tried to use the 3fl site but all that happens is a blank page appears and thats all !!!! I use msn.co.uk alot and my main email address is with hotmail.co.uk. I've found that this is really slow now. All other sites load as I expect !!! Is there a reason for this ? And does anyone know why 3fl just shows a blank page ?

I've aslo reinstalled ie 7 as this has started hanging when I first connect!!! Seems ok at mo

Cheers all

Hey,

www.sony-asia.com/suppor...p;subpage=detail

I need all these drivers but i cant be bothered to download ~150mb/s at 15kb/s.

Hi Sprooty,

Seems that Sony is using all their upload for PS3 stuff :-\ I've tried a few downloads from that page and have had speeds from 10KB - 40KB/s (using a direct net connection). Maybe start downloading all of them before you go to bed?

Regards,

Andrew

I have a feeling its more then that. I tried to download those files about 5 months ago and could only manage <2kb/s on a different ISP.

They must just have really really crappy servers.

Hi l4w,

We aren't having any speed issues at the moment. If you are experiencing slow speeds it would be best if you contact our support team (support@westnet.com.au or 1300 786 068) so we can try and help you figure out what may be causing it.

Are you able to post line stats, throughput tests - from the 3FL mirror or another local FTP mirror like iiNet's or Internodes' - and otherwise give us something to troubleshoot? ;)

The Internet is great. Providing evidence or thinking things through just wastes valuable time that could be spent making more sweeping generalisations and spurious claims.

One user has a speed issue. That user is with Westnet. Therefore Westnet is slow.

Hi all,
Going back to my original post !!! Finally managed to download from 3fl. Did the 10mg one and it did it in 16 secs at 640kb/sec. How does this sound ? I'm on the boost 1.5 - 8 plan.
Still having issues with my hotmail account, seems to take ages for some emails to open even though some of them are just text !!
Also on another forum I found that avg 8 has a new feature which can slow load times down. I've disabled this now, dont know if anyone else has had probs.
Cheers

Maximum you will get on the boost plan is around 780kb/sec. That's on a fairly good line reasonably close to the exchange. I get that about 1.5kms from the exchange, synching at 7616 (out of a possible 8192)/384

I have been the same the last couple of days. I am about 570m line distance from the exchange with about 4db loss, on an 8mb plan, and still syncing at 7616000. Used to get around the 700kb/s mark, but now as you can see are getting pretty slow speeds....
