Last sunday our phone stopped working... talking to the neighbours, they had the same problem... there was one of those yellow telstra 'cages' on our street so we figured they were working on it... Tuesday, both our neighbours called their service providers to lodge a fault.
I didn't bother, i figured telstra knew there was a fault (neighbours complained plus yellow cage)
eventually on friday at 5pm i gave up and made the call (using my VoIP).. sunday morning at 830 a guy came in, tested our phones, went to the cage, did something or other, and voila, our phones were fixed... he said telstra would need to do some more work etc. but for the time being, that will do.
The neigbours are still phoneless
Great work iiNet.... (i'm assuming they sent the dude, as he didn't say where he was from, and didn't know about the fault for the neighbours)

Depending where you are, there is a bit of a delay for some peoples services to be restored at the moment if they are Telstra customers....

I would also like to say Great Work iiNet.
I am a NDSL user and a very happy one. Connected no problem and on time.
All communications and support with iiNet were such a breeze. Even if their phone queue waits were a tad long, they offered a callback service (which was totally impressive AND you kept you turn in the queue too. Oh yeah - it works!)
I might sound like I work there/am an iiNet nut but I don't and I'm not... I'm one of them nuts that work for another telecommunications company and our service is not even on par with iiNets.
Seriously. Keep up the good work iiNet!

Yeh i thought it was a bit weird at 830 on a sunday morning with no prior call..
but he fixed my phone line, knew our phone number (probably not hard to get) and had an ID badge of some sort. I was far too sleepy to take note but he was an old fella
and he knew how to fix my phone :)

ROFL at the possibility of some random dude walking the streets of Perth fixing random peoples phone lines.
By day, he works a steady office job in a large telecommunications provider, living his life like any other average citizen. But by night, he is The Masked Linesman, terminating copper pairs with extreme prejudice, and bringing justice to the lawless last mile of the information superhighway. It's a hard job, but then again, he's a hard man....
I want to meet this person :P .

During the time, my synch dropped dramatically..from 16k to about 1500ish with constant d/c's
Now i synch at 15,000 or so, so i lost 1,000kbps :(
