anyone know if its possible, if so, how? - to turn off a suspended VM ?

I currently have a suspended Vista install. Whenever I resume it - VM hangs. Any idea how I can power it off [the vista VM]?

Thank you.

Are you able to run VM Fusion without starting the Vista virtual machine? I have to type a password before it initiates, leaving me with the ability to change settings etc.

Perhaps the best way is to delete the virtual machine (ie, your current install of Vista). May I suggest making a boot camp partition and installing Vista via that medium? I find it is much faster, and once installation is complete, boot back into OS X, then use Vista through VM/parallel. Besides, Vista installs in less than 20 minutes on my MBP via bootcamp.

this is a backup of my old laptop, that i did using vmware convert - so not going to re-install it :)

found if I delete most of the files within the directly, and only leave the HDD, vmx and some other one - it boots freshly :)

you can discard a state/snapshot in the virtual machine menu.

Try this:
Close VMWare.
Go into your virtual machine directory.
Do a right click on the VMware file, select: show package content
Move the .vmss file to a safe location (just in case)

Just tried it, this is where the state file is stored, if not present it will just boot as usual

I'm new here, please be nice

Hi,
I have a virtual machine that was created through vmware fusion, and it is stuck during a resume. It says 'restoring state', and the progress bar gets to the end and then stops. I was wonder if you knew how I could restart this vm even though it's presently 'suspended' and can't resume.
