anyone know if its possible, if so, how? - to turn off a suspended VM ?
I currently have a suspended Vista install. Whenever I resume it - VM hangs. Any idea how I can power it off [the vista VM]?
Thank you.

Are you able to run VM Fusion without starting the Vista virtual machine? I have to type a password before it initiates, leaving me with the ability to change settings etc.
Perhaps the best way is to delete the virtual machine (ie, your current install of Vista). May I suggest making a boot camp partition and installing Vista via that medium? I find it is much faster, and once installation is complete, boot back into OS X, then use Vista through VM/parallel. Besides, Vista installs in less than 20 minutes on my MBP via bootcamp.

this is a backup of my old laptop, that i did using vmware convert - so not going to re-install it :)
found if I delete most of the files within the directly, and only leave the HDD, vmx and some other one - it boots freshly :)

Try this: Close VMWare. Go into your virtual machine directory. Do a right click on the VMware file, select: show package content Move the .vmss file to a safe location (just in case)
Just tried it, this is where the state file is stored, if not present it will just boot as usual

Hi, I have a virtual machine that was created through vmware fusion, and it is stuck during a resume. It says 'restoring state', and the progress bar gets to the end and then stops. I was wonder if you knew how I could restart this vm even though it's presently 'suspended' and can't resume.
