Hi

I am having a very strange issue with my Web Server - running on Ubunutu 8.04 Server with PostFix Installed

This is what i can do....

I can send email using Drupal 5.7
I can send email using Telnet
I can send email manually using Webmin

So Emails are sending no problems

Where I am having problems, - I am running a copy of EXOPHP Helpdesk, and this PHP Program runs a fetchmail script to collect emails off my email server and add them into the helpdesk - once this is completed, it sends the original sender an email saying with an acknowledgment Number and a copy of the original email. It should also send an email describing the fault to the Helpdesk Opperators. All both users get is this

Reply-To: helpdesk@mydomain.com.au

X-Mailer: PHP
Message-Id: <20080512013001.5ED9824A5F2@www .mydomain.com.au>
Date: Mon, 12 May 2008 11:30:01 +1000 (EST)
Return-Path: www-data@mydomain.com.au
X-OriginalArrivalTime: 12 May 2008 01:30:40.0927 (UTC) FILETIME=[CA0952F0:01C8B3CF]

I am getting a little frustrated, and not sure where the fault is.

all suggestions will be appreciated, and even if someone can recommend another helpdesk program that has the ability to receive emailed requests.  (preferable free)

They receive a blank email with just those headers?
Sounds to me like a fault with the helpdesk software, not postfix.

Top of my head:
Have you checked the email content in the mailbox before it fetches it with fetchmail?
Do you have virus scanning or spam stuff that might be altering the email content, and maybe causing issues with the helpdesk software?
Write a quick php script to use the same mailer class/functions to test it sends correctly (doubtful, but php can be kinda gay sometimes).
You might also try messing with the helpdesk software, add some debug printouts to work out where its loosing (or never getting) the email content.
I assume that space www .mydomain is just you removing the real domain there for whirlpoolness.

This is what I really am afraid of... I have tried the Forums on the website where i downloaded the software, but they can't help

Yes... checked it and the message is exactly as it should be

There is no antivirus, or spam filtering software installed on the webserver

My PHP Skills arn't quite up to this level I don't think... I'll investigate further

Again, not sure if my skills are up to this

Yea I changed the mydomain stuff for my own privacy...

Anything else???

Run fetchmail manually and see what output it does when it checks a message.
Otherwise, unfortunately, youd have to start hacking away at the helpdesk software. Or replace it with something else(!)

Registration Emails go through...

I have almost definitly isolated it down to the helpdesk software, but changing it to something else might be a little difficult at this stage...

I think it might be time to learn some PHP, and recode the damn thing
