Hi,
Just out of curiousity, what is everyone's working hours? 8:30-5:30? 9-5?
Particularly interested in those who are full time developers/IT working in finance and big 4
Cheers
Eric

Normally 37.5 hours per week 8:30am to 5:00pm. Last couple of months it's anywhere from 45 to 55 hours per week. On top of that I am on 24/7 standby all week which equates to about 100 hours for 7 days worth. Talk about being wrecked everyday :P

Talk about being a slave to work

Officially 7:30-4:30, 8:30-5:30 or any combination of those with 1 hour for lunch.
Previous job 30 hours a week pick the hours, anything after 5:30pm counted as 1.25 hours per hour.

My normal workday is from around 8am to 6pm. However I have a global role so often do conference calls at any time between 1am and 10pm.

Whats "on the books": 9am-5.30pm Mondays 9am-5pm rest of the week 9am-12pm Overtime every 3rd saturday. 30min for lunch everyday.
How it actually is: 8:45 or 8:50am till 5:35pm+ (if not later)Mondays 8:45 or 8:50am till 5:10pm (typically) Weekdays 8:50pm till 12pm every 3rd Saturday Overtime.
If you rock up at 9am boss doesnt notice or care (but I have to rock up earlier to let everyone else in)
If you leave at 5pm on the dot or within a few minutes boss has little sly remarks where if you stay back a few minutes (doesnt matter what you do even if its nothing) and then leave he is ok with that.
Funny thing is, if you work 11am till 7pm he tells you to get out at like 7pm because thats when he leaves aswell.

On call from 7:00 AM at work at 9:00 (or 9:10) leave work between 5:30 and 6:00 most days, occasionally later(1/week) make calls from car/home to OS, 1/week until 9:00PM
Avoiding weekends/ON travel as there is no compensation.

what's the extra 1 minute for? or the missing 9 minutes for that matter? i guess this 7hr 21mins would exclude your lunch break

I fit those requirements, I do full time IT work and am employed at a financial organisation.
There are three of us in my dept. I do earlies, my two colleagues come in later. We are not set to start times, as long as we do our 7.5 hour day (+ 30mins lunch). Only restriction from the business is there needs to be one of us available between 0900 - 1700 AEST so I work later if others are away.
The arrangement we have is:
I work 0715 to around 1530 / 1600 Colleague 1 does 0830 - 1630 / 1700 Colleague 2 does 1000 / 1030 - 1800 / 1830
I am quite happy with this arrangement as I am awake early anyway, and enjoy leaving by 4pm.
