And now for the second poll. Which mode of gameplay do you prefer? (Some options had to be grouped due to poll size limitations sorry)

I'm having an absolute blast with this game at the moment, well worth the purchase of a 360. I've just 'migrated' over to the second island, the Industrial sector. Weeeee

One thing I would have liked to have seen would be more peds and cars at once.

There seems to be groupings of 4 or 5 peds, but you never see a big crowd or anything.

Same with cars. It would be good to go to Times Square during peak hour and see cars for km's.

I know it's a matter of power, but it would just be more realistic. Imagine going to a concert and throwing a grenade in the mosh pit, or making your way to the front and letting off a few rounds then seeing people trample each other trying to get away. ;)

The only things annoying me so far about this game though are that the speech is too hard to hear (360), and the behind car view is too low - it needs to be a bit higher so you can see things in front of your car more easily and judge depth.

i like the game, having serious trouble playing multiplayer though. Hard to join games, usually just kicks me out, or when i do get into a game its full of american twats who like calling everyone idiots or saying how high they are at the moment.

Why can't xbox live just connect aussies to aussies and be done with it sheesh.

Don't know about 360 but the PS3 has 2 behind the car views, one close & low and the other a bit higher and further back.

But if you really want to see things in front of you then use the dash view ;)

(Possible spoiler)

Anyway talk about random events, I was in a mission where some guys hopped in a car to drive away, but they smashed straight into another vehicle and got into a fight with the other driver. Made it quite simple to walk up to the car and shoot the rest of them through the car window...

(End possible spoiler)

The 360 has 3 views as well, all selected through the 'back' button whilst in the car.

Whilst meandering around the subways recently, I found a large flight of stairs and continuously pushed people down the stairs. If you want a great example of how well Euphoria works in this game, give it a try (morbid, but fun). People also tend to drop money when pushed down the stairs...

Pushing people in front of the trains is also fun!!! *evil cackle* even the cops don't care if you do this, unless it's one of them of course!

Stairs+cops=funny

I stood at the top of a large staircase (cant remember where) took cover behind a wall right next to it, and waited while the cops climbed all the way up then I would blind fire at their legs and they would tumble down and sometimes obstruct and take out the guys following. This was on 6 stars so there were a lot of guys coming up the stairs :)

I started with a 32" widescreen interlaced CRT. It's playable, but some of the text is rather difficult to make out.

I got a HDMI cable this week and switched to my Dell 2408WFP, the difference is night and day. My TV hasn't been on since.

Is the US version multiplayer locked to their US servers? or can I still play the local servers here in Australia online.

Get The australian version and play it you wont miss anything as long as you dont pick up a hooker.

US copies can play australians, it has been posted in 3 different threads at least 30 times.

Also sorry to the guys I played with tonight, my microphone is broken and I forgot to change it so that the voice came through the speakers and I couldnt hear what you guys were saying.

I wouldn't be worried about what's censored, it's negligible whatever it is.

Multiplayer between US and AU PS3 versions works flawlessly. Been playing multi-player with 2x AU and 2x US copies for hours.

Main reason to buy the US version is it's cheaper, even with postage.

If you just want the game right now, buy the AU version.

Its funny hitting cars and trucks because they get launched massively, so much for the realistic physics, not having decapitation ruined the physics, what normally would cut things up now only launches them as if it had hit solidly across the whole thing. Cars should be able to be ripped in pieces like the chopper.

Although the bad drivers (myself included) mightent like having to get a new car every block because their old one is wrapped around a telegraph pole.

There's more than likely exclusions. I seem to recall reading on here last night about a guy who tried to trade in PDZ for a cheaper copy of GTAIV and they wouldn't let him, simply because it was on the exclusions list.

Couldn't agree more. Seems like a pretty stupid angle.
I am constantly on the right thumbstick tilting the camera up abit and straightening it up, also I have a habit of swinging the camera around the corners for a better view.
Its abit tricky at first but becomes 2nd nature after awhile.. get in car -> turn radio off -> pull back on right thumb stick

Same here too, so damn hard to hear what they say. I have even gone in and turned the radio off in the audio options... so much better. I'd rather hear the SFX than the crap they play on the radios.

You do realise there are 3 selectable camera angles right? Press the back button and it goes a fair bit higher, press it again and it goes into cinematic mode and then again to return to default.

I do prefer the closer one to see and hear the car better, makes for easier squeezing thru cars as well.

I'm new here, please be nice
Got my 360 with GTA IV last night and I've gotta say... It's awesome! Haven't progressed far in the story, I think I just did the first job for Vlad, most of my playtime (up till about 6 in the morning) was taken up by freeroaming with a friend just wreaking havoc. :P

Also played a bit of TDM and Mafiya Work (I think). I love the way the cars drive and the close combat system, and of course the script; It's hilarious, much lulz when Roman yelled "YOU FORGOT THIS, ALBANIAN PRICKS" after Niko breaks that guy's arm.

Oh, and can someone clue me in on how to play bowling? I have no idea, I just end up making it go really fast or really slow, and I never get strikes.

The more I play this game the more dissapointed I am with it. After completeing it in 20 hours, there just isn't much to do and the city make you feel all cramped and constantly annoyed. The graphics are also a huge problem. They have done well with the blending to make distance stuff look nice, but in the end the graphics on anything but the most closest objects are absolutely terrible, just a blurry pile of crap.

same here, especially if your going up a hill and want to see what coming, when your going as fast as u can like i do :P It also took a little while to get used to braking around corners, and even now i tend to bounce of sides of buildings/parked cars alot hehe, but that all adds to the fun :)

To get strikes, I find easiest to step across twice, then pull back, hold it there for abit and push forward, trying to be as straight as possible with the thumbstick.
It will roll very slowly but should strike.

Anguish McBastard:
hehe yeah i often wipe out, going to wide and smashing into anything on the foot path.. usually people :)
But now i love to handbrake around most corners.. its wicked if you get it just right. nice drift :)

Interesting Question...
If you play somebody from the US in Free mode (with obviously an uncensored copy), can you watch him pick up a hooker and therefore see all the action going on?

I won't post my times *cough* but I wanted to know if anyone had a contact email for the Rockstar Social Club? You need to get in before the 19th of May to get a Key to the City yet I haven't once been able to have my game show up on that site. Anyone know how to get assistance from them?

Phwoar. Spent pretty much all day getting the stunts achievement today. I only had 8 left at the start of the day, but only 6 locations left on the map.... oh no :D I basically had to redo all 50 again to find the missing 2 :D Annoying, but very satisfying when I found them.

Spent ages trying to get the damn 'rolled over' one at the airport as well, but STILL didn't manage it. I hate that one.

Nope...check you should be about only 10% of the way through :P

Still awesome though, you have much to look forward too.

That's an awesome way to rate the game. The graphics look fine and the gameplay is better than a lot of other games.

Of course I'm a little biased as I'm a fan of GTA having finished all of them since GTA3 was released.

Bit of both, some people would do it right and look for things themselves and hurl themselves off whatever looked jumpable others would look at a map and go from there. Some would look for as much as they could then go for the maps, because some are difficult to find and may even be in/ontop of buildings.

Becuase the actual story and gameplay isn't what makes a game. I don't get why people are bashing the graphics - they are well above any previous GTA and processing entire cities is no mean feat.

I tried IE but the same thing. I will give it another shot trying to link using that and see how it works.

I really want this to work as that "Key to the City" would have to be a collectors item. Surely it would be fairly limited.

can some please give me step by step instructions on how to join a game with a friend, we are ready to drag both our 360 out onto the steet and smash the bjebus out of them.

when we invite friend it just display a "XX want's to play" but give no option to start or join a game.

when i creat a custom game and make a private slot, he just joins a random server automaticaly. WTF is going on it can;t be this hard.?

we both make a custome game and can't connect, one of us creats a custome game and the other cant connecnt to it visa versa.

Ok ME: I start a player match>custom>add private slot>start free mode
game starts I invite friend> a message appears on his screen "wants to play"

Friend: starts player match>quick>free mode> get dump into another game
if he choose custome he goes to his own lobby, arrrrggg, how can you invite people from the lobby..?

Your friend needs to bring up the mobile phone, choose multiplayer, then go to "Invites (1)" and choose to join the game.. How's that hard? :)

Edit: Or it might say Invites (2) if he has received 2 invites, and so on and so forth.

nope there is no invite join option in game,
But I did figure it out, you have to press the big X button on the controller, goto friends, select the friend and then choose join game. I will leave my noob rant up there in case anyone else is as stupid.

On 360

You invite, You obviously know how to do this.

Him pushes 360 button (the big x looking thing) and accepts game invite.

He might need to go to messagages than select the message from the person then accept. Thats if it doesnt automatically open like it normally does for me.

360 doesnt have the invites (x) thing because its built into the LIVE friends service.

I don't know about the best way, but I did a 13 minute 4 Star session a couple of days ago (was trying for the achievement) didn't realise it was that long... lol Kept waiting for the achievemnet icon to come up. Checked my stats and said longest police chase was 12 minutes. Went and drove around again then checked the sats again and it said longest chase was 13 minutes, so I just drove away.

I was in a police car, just after one of the missions on Algonquin, I had to keep turning back towards the cops or I would have lost it too early.

:)

Next one I try is gunna be the 6 Star.

Easiest way to do this is get in a helicopter early in the game when the last island hasn't been unlocked yet and simply fly into it. 6 star wanted level straight away, then just fly out to sea and stay there for 5 mins lol.

Don't follow anyone else mate. Do what you want.

I killed Playboy because I don't like his name. It sounds like a 13 year old myspace kid name.

And yes, I got his apartment, but don't let it sway you. I've no idea what you get if you kill dwayne. Maybe the strip club you had to shoot up.

Ha Ha, so you don't have to escape the 6 Star rating. Got the achievement, then dived out of the chopper into the bay, then cops rock up in boats, and I died. When the cop shot me, he said... "Hah, my 10th kill this year"... Gold.

I haven't tested because the clock isnt on the main hud anymore (I personally wish all of the cash, weapon things would stay up and they added time but oh well) but in previous gtas 1 minute = 1 second real time. so when it says, be at michelles within in an hour means you got a minute to get there.

Quick question guys:

I did a hit for Francis and let the guy live. This opened up another mission where I have to assassinate a guy with a sniper from the rooftops.

I did it, but when Francis called my mobile, I dropped off a ledge (survived) but the conversation got cut out.

What does he say? Anything important?

EDIT: That's something Rockstar need to fix up. I'm sick of talking on a mobile only to be hit by a car or fall a few meters, only to have the conversation end.
