What I need to know before I apply again is: Can Exetel cut-over from an IInet Phone plan/set-up? I was a previous customer with Iinet, but had an internet/VOIP/landline bundle which was counted as 'complex services' for Exetel. Fair enough.
I have since cancelled that bundle (2 weeks ago or more) and can reconnect with Iinet by paying the $59 set-up cost + $29.95/month for line rental. IF Exetel can cut-over from this set up then this is what I'll do. But I need to KNOW for sure before I sign up with Iinet (in order to be with Exetel, since they need an active telephone line).

For deatils on my issues, see my other thread titled, "Does Exetel provide line rental?"

I'd appreciate responses from Exetel staff for an answer please, and anyone who has either had just a phone line with Iinet, or who knows how to have a phone line for under $100 so that Exetel can cut-over.

THANKS!

Guy.

Exetel staff will not respond on Whirlpool.

You will have to contact them directly via email, phone, forum or irc chat.

@Guy:

As long as their is no extra features (so just a plain old bare bones telephone plan) and no DSL/DSL2 service on the line it should be ok, though it cannot be gauranteed.

Best way would be to call the "provisioning" department by calling 0299271000 option 4 and ask if they can check this for you.

Ok, so I am nearly there with knowing whether the cut-over can take place or not. All I need to do now is phone Iinet and ask about the specifics of my line. Here is an email I received today from a helpful Exetel staff member:

"Hello,

Generally the only problems that occur with iiNet are due to them using their own equipment to provide services which fall under the "SSS" or "Spectrum Share Services" by iiNet.

Please contact iiNet and confirm with them if their phone service they are providing to you is using the SSS/Spectrum Share Service, if it is not then it is ok for you to apply for the Naked DSL service with Exetel.

If the phone service is a SSS/Spectrum Share Service then you will need to move your phone service to another provider such as Telstra.

Cheers,

(name withheld)"

Well, I spoke with Iinet on the phone and they said that I do not have SSS, so I can not cut-over to ADSL2+ on Exetel unless I get all new infrasturcture and spend just under $500 doing it, if with Telstra.

How does that work?

$299 new infrastructure fee + $59 set-up fee + $19.95/month Home Basic Phone line fee + $110 Exetel set up cost...
= $487.95

Now I'm just looking in to faster ADSL 1 speeds...
