aaNet created a thread a little while ago asking for user input for our ADSL2+ plans.
Detailed below are the current 'working' pricing matrix that is not yet confirmed, or approved.
ADSL2 2GB + Off-peak $29.90 ADSL2 10GB + Off-peak $39.90 ADSL2 20GB + Off-peak $49.90 ADSL2 30GB + Off-peak $59.90 ADSL2 50GB + Off-peak $79.90 ADSL2 75GB + Off-peak $99.90 ADSL2 100G + Off-peak $129.90
All plans also include an off-peak period during the hours of 2AM and 10 AM. During the off-peak period we will only count half of whatever your download. This means a 10GB download during the off-peak period will only count as 5GB toward your quota.
Plans are all unbundled, and should you also wish to bundle your telephone there is a $5 discount on your ADSL.
As with all other aaNet plans, they include a static IP address, and all the other inclusions.
Setup fee: $129.90 No Contract: + $50 Plan Change(existing customer): $59
Current exchange rollout info is located on this thread here .
Any questions or comments appreciated.

Hi Jason, prospective customer here as my exchange is listed on the other thread. Plans look good.
Maybe you could look at getting aaNet listed on adsl2exchanges.com.au or something for more exposure.
cheers

Looks good! The 2GB plan is a good move, I would take it if it was available on my exchange. Now, you just need to do something about the BERO exchange ;)

Hi Jason,
I am thinking of churning to TPG on a $39.90 (3 GIG on / 3 GIG off) deal. The reason is because of the new increase in the new plan. I am currently on the aaNet plan for $39.90 (512 with 6 GIGs). I have been pushed for the $45.90 plan on the same speed with more GIGs. I have requested to see whether I can move to the 1500 plan for the same price and was declined. Therefore, I am planning to move to TPG. Do you think I should wait for ADSL 2 from aaNet? When is the roll out will be complete?
Thanks

The network is being rolled out at a rate of 15 exchanges per month.
The other thread has the current list of exchange, the list that will be active when we launch(hopefully in a week or two) and a list that is currently in the process of being built.
And that is just phase one.
Once that is complete, we will continue to roll out into exchanges, where possible - but there is currently no information available for that yet.

If I accept the new plan of $45.90 with speed of 512. What happen when the ADSL 2 plan are out? What are the cost associated with moving from the current plan back to $39.90 (yes, only an indication at this stage) plan with 10 GIGs?
I have a pending cancellation request with aaNet that is scheduled for tonight de-activation. Do you know when this would occur?

These plans look quite reasonable, let's hope it will be weeks rather than months before they are available.
If only the price increase wasn't enforced last month - I'm sure a lot of people would have stayed on with aaNet rather than jump ship. Jason Μ writes... Plan Change(existing customer): $59
It would be nice if that was waived for say the first month of availability at each exchange - to encourage people to move over.
As I understand from the other thread "Churn blocked by AANET" John Lane writes... We're not altering anybody's service. We're changing part of the underlying delivery hardware, from a Telstra DSLAM to a BroadbandNext MSAN. The service is identical. people are already being moved over to the new MSAN's (without their knowledge!), so it's not like there is much overhead etc...

It costs us a lot of money per customer to migrate them to our MSANs.
If a customer remains on their current plan, then we are happy to wear that cost, however, if they want to take advantage of the possible lower prices, and higher speeds(and therefore a lower margin), then we need to recoup the migration cost somehow.
Considering that we are not putting you onto a new contract if you make these changes, I think it is more than fair.
That said, we will investigate some short-term special offers for switching to ADSL2 - no promises though!

But it also saves you a lot of money longterm - no need for Telstra 's exhorbitant costs to you anymore.

I'm sure that would go a long way to restoring the good will - especially for existing customers who are sticking around to see what you have to offer rather than churn.

At least not as many of them... but that's why the plans are so much cheaper, so I'm guessing that they won't significantly benefit from that (other than gaining a share of the ADSL2 market)

The comment was made regarding existing customers who choose to stay on ADSL1. They will still be paying the same price, but aaNet will be making a bigger slice of the cake.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for them to be viable & profitable, as a mater of fact it's imperative for them to do so - I was just suggesting that a way of restoring good will was to give a grace period for people to move over to ADSL2+ for no cost.

yes, I see your point. But if they go to adsl2 then aaNet won't get that larger profit from the adsl1 plans to cover the migration. It would probably make more sense (cents?) for them to offer the lower cost setup a couple of months down the track once they covered that cost.
But I agree, it would be a nice gesture of goodwill :)

As the plan to rollout ADSL2+ does not happen in all exchanges at the same time then I would recommend as each exchange comes on line then an introductory offer be made for a short duration ( 2 weeks ) to allow us customers to say :- Change "next anniversary" when ever that is.

What happens to existing ADSL2+ customer(s). My exchange is listed in the second lot.
I´m sure I will get moved off Optus DSLAM, what happens to my phone? Also will I get the new plans or stay on old ones? (New one is same price for 2GB more so no big deal).

Looks good Jason, my exchange (Preston) should be enabled for ADSL2+ soon (according to this thread). /forum-replies.cfm?t=968342
I can easliy see myself using either the $49.90 20GB plan or the $39.90 10GB plan. I am currently on the $49.90 1500 16GB plan (now discontinued) so increase of BW and speed for the same price seems ideal for me!!

Those plans do look good. And surprisingly my exchange is listed as one of the ones to be rolled out. Too bad for me though, I've already put a churn through to another isp. I might look back in a year or so and see, though if I am happy at my new isp I would stay there.

At this point in time, you will remain on the Optus ULL Network - you wont be migrated.
Once we offer our own POTS or ULL based ADSL service, and there is an effective ULL transfer process, we will migrate you, but its not possible at this time.

Well I have to say it was a good move releasing the proposed DSL2+ plans and exchange upgrade progress data. It has literally just stopped me churning. As soon at the Petersham one comes online I'm there 1.4~1.5 kms away too all good. 10 or more like 20GB plan looks to be very good

Jason Μ writes... ADSL2 30GB + Off-peak $59.90 ADSL2 50GB + Off-peak $79.90
Personally, I would have liked to have seen a plan in between your 30GB and 50GB offerings, such as an ADSL2 40GB plan @ ~$69.95.
I'm currently paying $59.95 on the ADSL1 1500-M2 plan and I would be comfortable paying up to ~$70pm but currently, the ADSL2 plan up at 50GB/$79.95pm is a tad too much for me to consider.
Oh well, it's just a suggestion even though I won't be on any of these plans any time soon, as my exchange (Carramar, NSW) isn't listed in either phase one or two rollouts (hint, hint :P).

Bring it on. I had cancelled my deactivation last night. If I didn't see this post then I would have churned to TPG.

And also remember to discount the Plan Change for existing customer. Some damage has been done thus some good will would be appreciated.

Those plans are almost perfect. If it has been confirmed I would take ADSL2 20GB + Off-peak $49.90 by storm. If I decide to change to ADSL2+ then do I need to pay $129.90 to setup ADSL2+ connection or only pay only $59 given that I am an existing aaNet customer? Where can I also find out whether aaNet will roll ADSL2+ service in certain area?

Daw1zard, just go to TPG. They activated ADSL2+ at Werribee last month and it is fantastic. I am 4.5km from WERE and I was getting 2500kp/s with aaNet ADSL1 and now I am getting 3600kp/s with TPG, and i am paying $30.00 per month less! (I was on the $79.95 aaNet 25GB plan upto 8MB/386 and I am now on the $49.95 25GB TPG plan). My uploads doubled as well. Plus if you sign an 18 month contract there is no set up fee with TPG and all of aaNet's equipment (like Filters, Routers, etc) are ADSL2+ ready. All need to do is change your username and password in the router and leave everything else the same and you are away. That Easy!!

not going to happen until they are forced to by the government (as stated by telstra).
The government gave Telstra a guareentee last year that it would not force telstra to wholesale adsl2+, so it would activate it in more exchanges.
In other words it's not going to happen under the current Telstra regime as it has made it's position clear numerous times about wholesaling anything that it is not forced to.

I'm not with aanet, but have recommended them to a few friends. The recent ADSL1 price rise has left a bit of a bitter taste.
These ADSL2+ figures look promising, good luck with the rollout.
The more non Telstra ADSL2+ Dslams (plans) the better.

In a nutshell, every internet user in the country will have their web content automatically censored by some faceless mandarins to block
Don't be surprised that nothing ever happens with this, If the government was still super keen (personally I don't think they ever were but was rather a promise to the family first party to get prefrences) on this there are certain technological barriers that have to be overcome. There was a trial of them a few years ago and it was a disaster, I doubt any government would with one hand give out 4.7 billion for BB then make it virtually dialup on the other.
Also all of the ISP's seem to hate it and at the moment with the NBN going on.....

Depends on the OFF-peak times and speeds...as you may not be able to download that much data if the off peaks times are, say from 1am-7am, so would be pointless.

The off-peak times on the plans listed above at 2AM - 10AM.
You have your entire quota to download at any time, and if you download during the off-peak, we only count 1/2 of whatever is downloaded.
That means the plans from aaNet have a MINIMUM download limit - using off-peak allows you to download far more data.
On a 100G plan you could:
Download 75GB during peak + 50GB during offpeak(only 25G counted).
Or
Download 50GB during peak + 100GB during offpeak(only 50G counted).
Or
Download 25GB during peak + 150GB during offpeak(only 75G counted).

3. When U say; Jason Μ writes... Plan Change(existing customer): $59

Not too much longer - currently testing the interfaces and typing up all the supporting documents/website text.
Upon review, I think we might be able to do a little bit better than the pricing at the start of the thread. I might be able to shave a few more dollars off/increase the quotas.

A bit of a side issue - If an ISP puts hardware in an exchange for ADSL2 can other ISP's use it or does each ISP need to put their own hardware in?

Each company or ISP that put their own hardware is there own. Other companies can use it if they pay for the fees, such as rental fees, just like the nextbroadband network, optus hardwares, TPG hardware ect..

Jason, Just a few quick questions
- Are we able to switch to VDSL2 without downtime, once it has been ratified? - Will the VDSL2 plans have similar pricing? I assume it will cost more due to bandwidth. - Will Aanet add free content in the near future such as a file mirror/game servers? - How about some "Naked" ADSL2+/VDSL2 plans?

Jason, is there any way that you would plan to install ADSL2+/VDSL at Epping, VIC? I really love to get aaNet ADSL2+ over here and the plans are fantastic.

We wholesale to other ISPs - www.dft.net.au
The BroadbandNext network will certainly be used by other ISPs shortly, and in fact one or two are testing the services at present. Launch will be in a couple of weeks.
We also have a fast churn process with zero downtime for end users, for movement between ISPs on the BroadbandNext network.
Regards, John Lane.

Hey John,
When your plans and network for adsl2+ does become available in the coming weeks will bundling with aanet Taalk be compulsory?
Otherwise I should start changing over now to avoid any down time that might slow the upgrade to adsl2+ for me :D

You can churn to an ADSL2+ provider that supports SST - the only issue for some people is churning to ADSL1.

Your possible ADSL2+ pricing looks really good and I would transfer plans ASAP. I have 2 aaNet ADSL1 accounts at the Beaconsfield Upper and Balnarring Exchanges, both Region 1 in Victoria. I don't hold out much hope of you rolling out ADSL2+ to either of them, any time soon.
They have both been enabled for ADSL2+ by BigPond, but I never want to use BigPond again. Are there any other options?

Previous post of mine '.. If an ISP puts hardware in an exchange for ADSL2 can other ISP's use it or does each ISP need to put their own hardware in? '
Answer - yes other ISP's can pay to use it - if they like the price/conditions.
So I presume you're putting your own stuff in exchanges because Bigpond would charge you too much to use theirs? Or do you only put it in exchanges not done by Bigpond?

It has to be your own equipent or rented use off someone who has there own equipment there and want to rent it to someone (they don't have to), Bigpond does not sell access to any of there ADSL2+ and all exchanges are own by telstra.

I really like the idea of having anytime quota, but the option to save quota by download during offpeak, good work aaNet!
But I am still waiting for my VDSL2 at Burwood NSW.. :(

So of course ISP's will all be fighting over - and over servicing - the big city exchanges and regional and rural areas will only have over priced Bigpond. Isn't it ridiculous? Nationalise the network hardware, privatise the service (if you must).
