Know your ISP.

I have just moved into a new residence in Seville Grove WA and am looking for an ISP. I have enquired to many different companies and I keep getting the same response from all, that ADSL is the only option for me due to Optic Fibre to RIM. I am gathering that due to my distance from the exchange that this would be the case. In order for me to get ADSL2+ or Naked DSL, I would have to get a copper line installed. As I am renting, this is not an option.
My question is what are the best ISP's in the armadale area that provide internet/phone bundles. I would like a shaped plan but that is about the only restrictions I have. Obviously the cheaper better services are what I am interested in but I am open for comment.

Any information anyone can provide would be grwatly appreciated.

exetel for adsl1(TelH or TelI depending on usage)
bc.whirlpool.net.au/bc/isp-340/exetel.htm

then get a voip adaptor or modem if u dont already have a modem

then use gotalk for all ur calls...

$15 a month gets:

-300 local
-300 national
-100 mobile

so all up will be $40(exetel)+ $20 (line rental)+ $15(gotalk)=

$75 per month will all calls included

Another question, Is VOIP compatible with Fibre optic lines or does it need to be the copper line style? I know naked DSL needs to be copper lines but just thought I would ask.

You do actually have a copper line, it's just that it terminates at a RIM cabinet rather than going all the way back to the exchange. That's why you can't get ADSL2+.

VOIP will work fine on your line.

For a DSL internet connection, you need a copper line.

VoIP runs over your internet connection. For VoIP to work, you need a reasonable speed (> 512kbps) and a working internet connection. Your internet connection could be DSL, Fibre, Satellite, Wireless, etc.

Maybe I should ask the question a little differently.

Any people in the Armadale / Seville Grove area, preferably Seville Grove, have a reasonable a ISP they could recommend?
