HI all, I am thinking of getting a phone line as well as adsl connection, currently planning to get Telstra HomeLine Complete and Adam 512/128 5g plan, mainly for casual web browsing and VoIP. An better suggestion? My postcode is 3140, Lilydale VIC so no adsl2+ available, nor is naked dsl.

I'd check with them directly, because according to bc.whirlpool.net.au/bc/i...dam-internet.htm they are not.

Tried to check their signup page, it's SA/NT only, so need to find another ISP.

Mate,
I would very interested to know if you can get ADSL with ur new phone connection. I also live in the same suburb as yourself and struggling an ADSL Connection for more than 6 months.
Good Luck anyway?

aanet kickstart looks good on paper, are they good in real life? By the way their support is not available now, can anyone answer me some questions about it?
1. What is the upload speed of kickstart512? 2. What exactly they meant by "We may assign priority to certain types of data traffic."? what types of traffic are given priority? 3.OK to use this plan with Telstra homeline complete? I notice that I can't use telstra homeline budget with other ISP.
edit: Found the answer 1. 128 3. no prob

Have been with them a while. They are pretty good. Come with a static IP for free too.
Even the non-kick start plans are good.
PS. Sent you a whim.

You can use homeline budget with any Telstra wholesale reseller - that is if you are on ADSL1 then you are on Telstra equipment and therefore eligible to use Homeline budget.
I am with Internode and for me, it is a good & reliable connection with excellent support. My brother is running MyNetFone VOIP over his Internode 512/128 connection with no problems (more than 12 months & he also has Homeline Budget).

I think aanet is telstra reseller according to what I see on their web site. I will have to confirm with both telstra and aanet on Monday. Thanks really appreciate all these suggestions, save me heaps.

They were offering ADSL2 also but they had some probs with Optus so it's on hold.
You CAN have Telstra HLB with another ISP. Have it myself and only use VOIP.

I am told that they are having no ports in the exchange. I am also told by the existing provider that I am on PAIR GAIN and hence cannot get ADSL.
Surprise Suprise, Telstra have called me to say that the exhange has been upgraded to ADLS2+...
Have signed up and fingers crossed???

How do I check if they still have any port left? I don't want to end with a home line with no adsl.
edit: found telstrawholesale.com/pro...eports-plans.htm however it shows that LILYDALE VIC LILY 446 LILYDALE VIC LILY DA063, DA064, DA065 No Ports Available
how do I find out if my new number will be within the zone of the one with spare port (the first one) or in the one without spare port? (the second one)? (my neighbours' number begin with 03-9735....)
edit: found another file at the same site ADSL Enabled and Proposed Enabled Distribution Areas and those streets with no port are BAYSTONE PL BRAVO CRT CHESTER ST COMIC CRT DELTA CL GLENCOE PL KINGSBURGH LA LANTERN PL NEWHAVEN CRT NIMBLEFOOT WAY THE GATEWAY BANKER CRT CHESTER ST MENTOR GR REVENUE PL RUSSIA MEWS THE GATEWAY WARRIOR CRT ZULU CL ANDY CL BENITO CRT CHESTER ST DON CRT HARICOT WAY KINGSBURGH LA VITTORIO CRT WOTAN CRT
I am at Albert Hill Road, not listed above, does it means there will be ports available for me (the first category)?
edit: Searched for every street above on Google map, apparently all the above streets are together in a small area north of Nelson Road and East of Victoria Road. Fortunately I am south of Nelson road, not very far though, should be within the area with 446 spare ports. To my relief.
edit: www.adsl2exchanges.com.a...rev=CHRNSDE%20PK Presents the information graphically, very helpful.

called telstra today, get usual response - incompetent operator - told me that I have to use homeline complete, and when i told her about telstra wholesale.com she said telstra don't do wholesale, only can use bigpond, only after i tell her to go to telstrawholesale.com then she went to check things up. Then she thought I am going to be a reseller... ( i don't really bother what she thinks about this). And in the end i just order the connection. Have to wait from 2 weeks to 4 weeks because i don't have the previous number and the address is so complicated because i am renting an unit in a college.

Just get your line connected using Homeline Budget then apply with whoever you like for an ISP.

To the gentlemen in Lilydale from a gentleman in Bayswater .
The no available ports issue has been around for a number of years and at least one method has been devised to solve it .
If you become Bigpond customers the ports will suddenly be available and in the cooling off period chose the ISP of your choice and move to that ISP .
Pair gain systems can cause problems as first you have to be transposed to copper by Telstra even then you may have problems.
Nothing is certain in this world just because the exchange is enabled for ADSL does not mean that you will be able to get ADSL,your neighbour could have ADSL but you may not have ADSL.
If you get a new line and don't use the second pair the cost of installation of a new line is $299-$300 .
Make sure that your new line is NGPDSL essential which means that if you cannot get DSL on the line you will not have to pay for new line.
More information about NGPDSL essential can be found in the thread below from the Broadband forum

After spending $300 (was told by telstra before that it costs $125) to install the new phone line and now when I apply for aaNet I got this stupid rejection that is not seen anywhere in www.aanet.com.au/rejection_codes
Reason for rejection The connection was rejected
Looks like I have just spent $300 for nothing, I don't want a stupid phone line with no internet connection, what a 'nice' first year experience migrating to Australia.

Just reply to the email rejection - as it is possible that the Telephone number was not active when you submitted the order.
Telstra require that the telephone line is active in their database before an order can be submitted - whoever reads your email will investigate for you.

Thanks Jason, that was a fast response, compared to long waits on the phone which I gave up (was on my mobile).
Done that, sent email both to order@ and sales @
