I'm considering buying a 'stress reliever' as a joke. Should I?
It would be hilarious to put it on someone's shoulder and then see what their reaction is when they figure out what it is.

Even if DX do eventually stock them and the price is right, I think they'll be so popular (based on the popularity of the P2-based RC-G2 ) that DX will run out of stock before too long. Bit expensive especially for a 1xAA light. Gotta love DXs free shipping! I know I wouldn't buy half the stuff I do from DX if I had to pay shipping.

Quantity SKU Description Price Total 1 1002 Romisen RC-G2 Cree Q5 Flashlight "Black" (1xAA) $19.97 $19.97
Sub-Total $19.97 Shipping (USPS First Class Mail) $5.95 Sales Tax $0.00 ShiningBeam.com Total $25.92 Store Credit -$0.00 TOTAL DUE $25.92
Although it will take the same time to arrive also to get that price you need to put 'CPFuser' in as a coupon
I think I'll just get the P2 one, unless DX bring in the Q5 before I have PayPal money.

Anyway getting back on topic, has anyone noticed this thing when trying to click on things on the forums or access something near the top of the site img84.imageshack.us/img84/2941/dxpw8.png i find it extremely frustrating. All the menus pop out just by putting your mouse near it.

Let's just clarify this. Discussion about items sold by DX (whether you have bought them or not) is fine, of course. That includes questions about the items, especially if others have already bought them.
What is not so helpful is pointless "Me too" style posts - or discussion of an item that has nothing to do with its features, price or anything else that would actually be useful. I think most people would agree that posts along the lines of "wow, this thread is long" or "I'm using my laser tonight (with no detail as to any features of the product)" are fairly pointless.
Please contact me by whim if you wish to discuss this - discussion of moderation is off-topic for this thread.

Check the status of your order in the My DX Account page. They might still be collecting the MicroSD. You will get your SD.
If you needed it urgently you should have got the card locally.

Agreed, especially if you can get to an MSY store as their prices are often better than DX for things like memory cards. As an example, I got a 2GB Kingston microSD card two weeks ago at MSY for $13 whereas the same card at DX would have cost $12.33 USD!

+1. Wish we had an MSY here over the West. :(
You'll find that certain items sold by DX depreciate real quick, only that DX doesn't adjust their prices accordingly.

I was thinking the same thing. Just out of curiosity I went to the Kingston webpage and clicked the verify flash memory link. I got this info in reply:
You have entered the following information:
Serial Number: TJ09470-01180672 License Key: F119GCD-0520710S Email Address: CJ@MAILINATOR.COM The flash memory product you inquired was already registered by another user, so it may not be authentic Kingston memory product. We suggest that you double check the information on the product label. (Refer to the Kingston Verification website for details).
Taking a closer look at the sticker on the back of the box, I find this:
"www.kingson.com/aswyerify to identify genuine Kingsom memory products."
Made me laugh that you'd screw up the spelling on a verification label.
So its a fake, but at least it's a very convincing one. Could (and did) fool me. Haha.
Edit:Clarity

Don't get me wrong, DX is still great for people who can't get to or dont have access to a competitively priced bricks-and-mortar store, but for those that can get to a store you do get the instant satisfation of walking into a store and a minute later walking out with a card instead of having to wait 10-15 days.
Not to mention the fact that you're getting the genuine thing rather than a knock-off. I know some people wouldn't care as long as it works, but if I'm going to be paying around the same amount of money then I'd rather pay a little extra for the geniune product at a physical store and get my memory card instantly. :D

out of interest i just verified a SD (2gig) card i got for the GF the other week from DX
it said to go to www.kingston.com/china/verifyflash
so i entered the relevant info and it says it is a legit
(translated from Chinese to English) "You are purchasing digital products for Kingston of products manufactured by the company. Kingston is making all the digital products have a manufacturer's warranty service. Thank you for the use of Kingston's products."

Also with the fake memory cards the read and write times are usually longer than usual. I got a fake 4GB Sony MS Pro for my PSP, it takes just over an hour to write 4GB on.

I had one of them ages ago. (the DO DO DO DO sound is beeping...)
1. It seems to rarely activate when you do whistle 2. If you have it on your car keys, whenever they hit the dashboard, it goes off. 3. If you don't make any noise, it still sometimes goes off. 4. If you want to watch TV, put it in another room... guess what, it goes off.
As you can see, I highly recommend it :P

Eminent writes... Agreed, especially if you can get to an MSY store as their prices are often better than DX for things like memory cards. As an example, I got a 2GB Kingston microSD card two weeks ago at MSY for $13 whereas the same card at DX would have cost $12.33 USD!
Yea i just realiased it just then when I browsed through MSY. Also it won't save me 0.02c as I gotta drive down there.

Do you get into trouble with your spouse/partner/mom/dad/siblings/et c for buying too much stuff on DX? Do you get nagged at for collecting too much junk?

CookieMuncher writes... Would either a CR2 or AA's make a difference to the brightness which is better?
CR2 (higher voltage) would be much brighter, but of course the run time is only approx 20 minutes.
On the other hand, AAs (lower voltage) won't be as bright, but longer run time.
Also, running the WF606A on CR2 would make the flashlight look seriously awkward

It applies to any high powered lasers (i.e. > 1mW) regardless of green or red.
However, I don't think it's illegal to import just as yet, judging from the responses some people get from customs themselves. They will be illegal soon though.

I think the general rule is, if it isnt mentioned, it is around 1mW, which under Victorian laws, unless currently revised, are legal to possess.

I don't have that exact same laser pointer, but I've bought several different variations from them. All I can say is, all my red laser pointers doesn't have a clean red dot on a spot. All came with some sort of spillage (or as I would say it, a 'smear' around the focused red dot).

KD? if so i have bought 4 packages. 1st one took about 3 weeks (which was the same for DX at the time). 2nd one was sent, rocked up just over 10 weeks after being posted (stamp on the envelope confirmed) so god knows where it was hidden all that time. The last two both arrived in about 9 days from ordering.

Another day another wrong item :-(
DX sent the blue flashlight I/O white.
Hello,
Apologize for any trouble.
Do you have any new order right now? if so, how about we add a replacement to it? if now, we can also resend a new one to you separately. pls advise.
Thanks
best regards, Angel
A staff has added a solution to your request. Apologies for the error. The packer must have put a wrong item in your package.
There is no need to return the incorrect item to us -- please keep it as a gift. A free replacement has been arranged for you already. You will receive a shipment notification e-mail when it is sent. You may track its progress using your existing order number.
Thank you for your understanding.
Best regards
And then they go and ad it to my other wrong item. They told me over a week ago that it was ready to ship. But the item is on BO Grrrrr!
