G'day all Right now I'm with Internode and mostly I play WoW is there any TPG ppl out there playing WoW and whats your Latency like. With Internode i get between 300ms to 400ms most of the time and any other problems with TPG and WoW drop outs that sort of thing. I've been thinking of swapping too TPG but yer would like to know if its a good thing or not from the ppl using TPG first.
thx guts for any help you can give

You should REALLY have a look at this thread then!

Internode are the only ISP who have their own gateway for WoW ... and it makes a BIG difference to your ping times!

Nice work TPG what a pathetic network slowly but surely every night is getting worse with my gaming experience, tonight has to be the worst one out of them all especially when I was raiding Illidan then to find myself D/C and still not be able to reconnect.
Fix your network up this is starting to become a issue every night.

Who are you kidding?
The helpdesk is based somewhere else in the world not in Australia and the english they speak is horrible, then to have the conversation delayed by X amount of time doesn't help either.
Anyway half of them won't know what you're talking about and will probably blame it on your modem then to say for it to be rebooted.
This problem is a definate issue with there upstream provider and needs to be fixed by a Network Administrator.

Having worked on a ISP Helpdesk as well the last thing anyone on the desk would know about is a game, unless they have actually been trained because they are hosting there own server farm.

The physical ports at the exchange are owned by Telstra, unless you have your own DSLAM then It's just housed by them all the big ISP's though have there own routing and bandwidth to travel around the place.

As you can see its happening for people all around in Australia so it points to a problem at the ISP end. So your own troubleshooting will be in vain.

It's not rocket science to troubleshoot these sorts of problems to see exactly where the problem is at.
Anyway lots of customers effected with a huge TPG WOW hate thread clearly points the problem to the ISP, the idiots will eventually figure out the issue and resolve it.
As from a customer point of view, not happy yet again.

Is it just me, or do you feel like switching to an ISP that has 24/7 support and a guaranteed uptime greater then 95%? Yes I am venting, but when you're the MT (with a great deal of resposibility) and your half way through a raid, you look pretty stupid dc'ing half way through a fight and not been able to come back on!

TPG has actually been really reliable for me in WOW for the last 9months or so but I know how you feel, I screwed over an SSC raid really badly a long time back when it did something similar to what it is doing right now. Nothing like wasting 24 other peoples time! :)

Yep, Things like the actual connection dying, don't happen often.
It's usually only little things that don't work. Connections to certain servers/websites not working on TPG when it clearly works for everyone else. This is actually worse, because then they don't care to fix it (and certain people like the guy below can pretend theres no problems and the isp is perfect).

Does any such ISP exist? I'm sure every ISP has gone down at some stage, even for extended periods, and yes that would have d/c your WoW. Have some perspective, it's a videogame.

I work shift work, so I notice my tpg going down sporadically, either dns related of PPP authentication isssues. Although for a while now it's been relatively good. As a loyal customer of tpg for 5 years, I'd love an open any time support number. Please tpg read!! I don't really want to change lol.

Any Australian ISP's?
I doubt any of them would be stupid enough to offer that because if there's a Telstra problem, which is out of their control, it affects everyone.

Yeah my WoW is down. This is getting to be ridiculous. Honestly they are barely providing the service I have paid for.
And to rub salt in the wounds Internode now have a FREE 'lowerping' service that is reducing Internode players ping to about 150-200. On TPG I never get anything better than 500.
I dont know how TPG hasnt become synonymous with the likes of DoDo.

yoble writes... I would. Right now. Were it not for the fact that I have signed a contract for a service I do not believe I am recieving.
Two options.
1) Pay out the contract and leave. If your service is honestly that poor, I would do the same.
2) If you believe that you aren't receiving the service that you paid for, and is stipulated in the contract, take TPG to court.

People..
Not all is that bad with TPG and WOW.
I'm a new customer connected to Parramatta exchange. My downstream speed is 19080kbps!
My ping times to WOW oceanic servers is a 300ms - 450ms constant. Very playable considering my last ISP was hovering around the 2000ms mark (Letsgo).
Overall happy with the speeds of TPG, only gripe is that their IPTV support sucks! I still cant get IPTV to register!!!

For 5 years I was on Bigpond cable. I've been playing WoW for 3 years now and moved to TPG last year.
Why did I move?
TPG has their own ADSL2+ routers in my exchange. They charge me $30 less than Bigpond for twice as much download data (and upload data is free) and they have minimal dropouts.
YES, Bigpond cable used to suffer more dramas for me than TPG does.
Now, I am about 3.2km's away from the exchange so my speeds are not the fastest you can get but I have very little in WoW latency issues. On average I sit at 280-320mS.
Sure, every now and then I'll get a lag spike or a disconnect, but it's a lot more stable than cable every was...
As for Internode, I have friends who use them and have no issues at all...
