I tried to connect to the Internode Wireless Hotspot today with no luck (Adelaide CBD/Library). Kept on getting local connection only. I am running Vista on a new laptop with a 802.11 b/g card. It connected yesterday no dramas but today for 3-4 hours trying on and off I could not get a internet connection or log in page.

Was the wireless down or is it something I/Vista is doing wrong?

Thanking you in advance

I still can't connect to it!!

It all connects but I can't login as a guest through Mozilla or IE to access the internet. It connects as local access only. I can connect wirelessly to any other wireless network however just not at the Internode State Library connection.

Any help please?

Thanks

It's possible there may be an issue with that Hotspot, drop a line to support@internode.on.net with details of where you were and what issues you were experiencing.

I had exactly the same problem a couple of weeks ago - I had been using my Vista laptop without issue for a few weeks, then one day it just stopped working. Internode Support told me everything was working their end so closed my request - Whirlpool to the rescue and I found a solution myself.

It appeared to be an old Vista problem with DHCP that I thought had gone away, but the fix suggested worked for me. The link for the issue is here: support.microsoft.com/kb/928233/en-us and the original issue was discussed in Feb 2007 in this thread: /forum-replies.cfm?t=683555

I did try that but I didn't understand the last part that involved the GUID?

I have 4 entries in the interface in the registry so not sure how to modify it.

I have managed to connect to the Internode wireless without issues before but the last 2 times I just can not connect. Got me stumped :s

Hi,

Can you please log this again via Internode support and ask the ticket to be sent to Matt Saint?

Many moons ago there was an issue with Vista, DHCP and Internode Hotspots. We made changes at our end to sort this out. I am reasonably confident this is not the issue you are seeing but I would like to 100% make sure. In the ticket can you log

Where
When
Time
Then from a DOS prompt run ipconfig and pass that on

Thanks
Matt

I passed this on but not sure how useful that will be as I am not connected to the Internode hotspot and didn't appear to show anything useful. Anyway e-mail sent :)

When i next go to the library not sure when i will run an ipconfig. Not sure when. Will post it here and e-mail it to you again

Thank you for your support

Hi,

Investigations from my side of the fence show the AP in the Mortlock Library is not functioning correctly. You are going to have to bare with us on this one as the we can't just show up but need to work through the official channels to gain access to the device.

Regards
Matt

No worries mate! I am just relieved to know that it isn't only my laptop having the problem.

Post something up when you do eventually get it fixed. I understand it is still in BETA testing so these things will happen. At least somebody let you know right? :)

Will do. We are tracking the fault in the ticket so you are likely to be the first to know via that mechanism.

What is going on with this? In the other section of the library the wireless keeps dropping connection and need to keep refreshing as well as being so slow. Seems the whole wireless is going down the tube at the SA Library :-( My girlfriends Toshiba doesn't connect at all anymore!

Please communicate your issue directly to support@internode.on.net, that way it can be logged and properly followed up. Thanks.

Is there a particular reason why ebay won't load? All other websites load but e-bay

I'm new here, please be nice

I've had problems on and off with the hotspot wireless service. Running under an account, of course. At the moment I can't actually access hotmail so as to send some kind of support report to internode. Although this isn't uncommon. I have (almost) fully working internet about 1 out of 10 times, sometimes varying in times of the day and I decided it was likely due to the amount of computers accessing the wireless network. At the moment I'm the only person with a computer in Cibo (rundle st, Adelaide. But there's no difference at gouger st. Cibo) and I can't access many things without a 15 minute wait. The library is out of the question and I don't bother going there anymore. However I used to go there often with no problem and was able to occasionally download files up to 100mb without disruption. Now I'm lucky if a 20mb file will complete. Nowadays there are in excess of 20 wireless users at a time in the library between 12-5 but as I said I'm the only one in Cibo at the moment. Every now and then when I've become frustrated I've scanned google for forum topics to see if anyone else has been having the same problem but this is the first I've come across. I also have two friends who experience similar problems in the city.

Your wireless drops out too?

I had this problem in West End Cibo Brisbane. Either that or internode was unhappy me downloading Diggnation from Game.internode.on.net using up all the internet hotspot sites bandwidth

I feel really gulty going in there and not being able to buy something except a pissy weak sprite

I regularly use that Cibo usually before work on a weekday and the network seems variable. Sometimes web pages take a long time to load. I've never tried to download anything more than a few meg. I've also had strange problems connecting — my macbook connects but doesn't get an IP unless I put in the OpenDNS DNS servers instead of the Internode ones. I figure the connection problems are Mac OS Leopard which seems patchy with some wifi.

Damn nice to know I am not crazy in the coconut!

Still having continuous problems and e-mailed the state library about getting their own blasted wireless which they said will be considering when they get more funding next year. Just got to wait it out I suppose. The wireless is next to useless now in there so don't bother using it.

State library has blamed Internode saying there is nothing they can do about it it is their problem. Internode have explained more thoroughly that it is the State Library's issue.

Oh well that is life, it is a free service and still in testing I suppose.
