Hey guys,

I am Using a plantronics headset i purchased about a year ago with an Onboard mic, the connection is through USB to the computer.. Unfortunately i cannot use the voice function in games e.g Cod4 or Css, however the game picks up me using Push-to-talk by displaying the speaker icon.

the mic works fine in Vent/TS and even using In game calling through steam in CSS but for some reason despite my fiddling wont work in the games themselves

The headphones i had previous used the 3 prong connections (technical term) and had the same issue

This seems like an obvious solution but might aswell mention...
Did you turn up microphone volume in options? Also CS:S has a test microphone program, have you had any luck with this?

You might need set it as the default recording device, it's likely that it is currently getting input from your sound card.
You need to do that in the control panel.

Are you using Vista?

I had the same problem.

I had to go into the Vista sound settings, and uncheck a box saying "all application to take control of sound card".

Yeh thinking about it, probly need to change the plantronics to the "default device" so the game files map correctly to the sound source.

ill have a play when i get home and let you know how i go
