Whirlpool

I recently bought a generic USB SD card reader/writer and a generic mini SD card with SD card adaptor. When i plug this into a USB port i get the message saying new hardware has been found and is ready to use and I get new removable drive (F:) icon popping up. When i click on the icon tho, it asks me to insert a disk into drive F:

Has anyone else had experience with this sort of thing and how did you fix the problem?

So, you have a chain. Usb into sd reader into mini sd adaptor into the mini sd card itself?

Sounds stupid, but add one item at a time and see what happens. And to ask the obvious question - the sd card is formatted?

And, again, to the adaptor - does it need extra power?

i thought i would be able to format the SC card through the reader. when i right click to format the removable drive it askes me to insert a disk. the adaptor seems to work fine. it doesnt need extra power.

Got no other SD cards to test the reader?

What size miniSD? (many card readers won't do over 2GB for example)
