And before anyone asks I only picked the desk up today (un-assembled) so I need to put it together & paint it.

Monitor is still in transit from dell.

aha hmm, I was thinking something more along the lines of P182, Lian Li V1000B+, maybe CM 690.

Or, just put in a CM 4 in 3 device into the top drive bays. $35 compared to $100 (for the 690).

not a total improvement to rock your world compaird to onboard.

well i had a asus p5b with onboard and it sucked with microphones.+ with vista the drivers were crap .. you could yell in it and it will just make a little noise thru the speakers.

with my p5e and the fxll card .i can wisper in the mic and it comes out very loud and clear.. little to loud.

but its realy not needed,

only reason to get a sound card is if you are getting distortion.
bugs (microphone)
suround sound.

with a dedicated sound card you can select a higher audio option in games)

i was hoping that pc had a audigy platinum card i could have taken out and sold for $100 cos i had a buyer for it if thats what the 7.1 card was.

the guys ebay page just said it had a 7.1 sound card and when i asked him on the phone he said it was the supremefx and came with the mobo.

I did a few photos of my Dell XPS 420 and i think a couple of the comp i built. A few more of the computer i did.

M/B-DFI Lanparty Expert
CPU-Opteron 180
GPU-2x7950gt SLI
H/D-2x250Gig Samsung in Raid 0
RAM-2 Gig Crucial Ballistix DDR 500
Screen-22" Chimei
CASE-Gigabyte 3DAurora
Power Supply-Gigabyte 550w Odin Pro

And the icing on the cake a wireless keyboard and mouse that cost $15, that is going in the rubbish bin.

i262.photobucket.com/alb.../Computer338.jpg
i262.photobucket.com/alb.../Computer325.jpg

i262.photobucket.com/alb.../Computer335.jpg
i262.photobucket.com/alb.../Computer330.jpg
i262.photobucket.com/alb.../Computer334.jpg

Next im going to go for water cooling, see if i can make it quieter and cooler and for the fun of it. Then try overclocking, i get about 8,400 in 3DMark 06 at stock settings so 10,000 is the first goal.

i wouldnt bother buying a 1gb gpu, dont really need it for a screen like 22" that my son is getting, but that xpertvision card is good value as the gainward 8800gt 1gb card is $430 cos my nephew was stupid enough to buy one a few weeks ago at techbuy.

They are on a matching bedside table to the desk at the back of my room.

Ur gonna love ur yammy when u get it setup.

also, what tv is that? size? and why do you have 2 sets of KB/mouse lol!

The TV is a LG 26" LCD with HD tuner. One set is for my PC, the other set is for my PS3 (Which runs linux)

oh. and nice quality sturdy desk, is that black mat built onto the desk or did you buy it?

The mat is build into the desk, the desk came from a local who makes them on the gold coast. Rather easy to shift to, it comes apart in 3 pieces, the top, left draws and right draws. No screws holding them in place. And it is a heavy piece of timber to move.

What sort of desk are you getting?

cool, can't wait.

Here are some pics :)
