Guys , could you throw some light on this error that keeps popping up?
Usually occurs on restart or awaken from Hibernate.

Error Loading C:/Programme Files/Common Files/ParetoLogic/UUS2/UUS.dll

The file is non-existent and i cant work out what is trying to search and start this Application. Its an AntiSpyware dll as far as i can determine from Paretologic.com site. I have never downloaded anything from them at all.
I have searched for something in my Services menu that may be causing it but i may have missed something.

Any Ideas?

It's trying to load because there is a key in the Registry telling windows to load that file at startup, and it's unlikely to be one of the Services

If you're sure you've never been to that site or used their s'ware then A) maybe some other sware installed it (or tried to) or B) you might have been infected with a malware of some sort. There's lots of shonky fake "spyware detectors" that are in fact malware themselves, advertising themselves.

Since the file doesn't seem to exist you are probably in luck for the moment.

Go to www.sysinternals.com and download a prog there called AutoRuns. Needs no installing just run it, it will list at great length all the keys in your registry that tell win to load all the stuff that it loads at boot time. Look in the menus across the top and find the one that says "hide MS entries", tick that then go to the 'File' menu and select 'Refresh' (F5 maybe ?). You will then see a somewhat shorter list. Make sure you are in the "Everything" tab.

Now all you have to do is look very carefully down that list until you come to the line that has your USS.dll at the end of it, keep looking if you find one in (the unlikely) case there are more than one. when you find it untick it and reboot your computer and your error should be gone.

In a couple of days if everything is going ok, go back into AutoRuns and that line you unticked, right click on it and select "delete" and it will be removed from your registry completely. edit: Don't be in too much of a hurry to do this bit, as below with any files you might find it's better to leave it there for a while (but inactivated by autoruns) just in case it ends up being part of something important ;)

So you are sure you have no software at all installed to do with this "ParetoLogic" bisiness ? Is there an actual directory in that location and is there anything in it ? If there is then make a new directory (folder) on your hard drive called (eg) "1hide" with win Explorer and move (not copy) the entire folder there. This is so you can put it back later if anything breaks and you actually need it.

Keep researching on google so's to try and figure out how and where you got this thing.

hope that helps ;)

Ok Thanks.
No i havent slightest idea where this dll come from and it is definitely not on my hard-drive, but something else is searching for it. At this stage i havent been able to find anything that could even be remotely calling for it. The Google searches have shown similar problems, but as yet no solutions. Have run CCcleaner, and Ad-Aware.

Will run Sysinternals..
Cheers :)

Hmmm that would be interesting if nothing can find a registry entry pointing to that file. I don't know CCleaner but I presume from what i've read that it would find an orphaned entry like that.

Would mean that something else that is loaded is trying to load it. I could suggest an experiment that would be a bit tedious but I have to do something important now, perhaps later...

good luck

Thanks Very Much Col for putting me on to "Auto Runs" It was great.. Found what the other useless freeloaders couldnt find. The Problem was clearly located in the Task Manager.. There was a task "Paretologic Registration Job" related to the System32/Rundll32.exe. It was looking for a registration dll.. Deleted it and all ok..

Ther are others with this problem , so now i will be able to advise the solution. It must have come from one of my Downloads from "Giveaway of the Day" They always carry some excess baggage..

As the Captain said. "Back on Deck" :)

Glad to hear that helped, the sysinternals utilities are great, so good that MS just had to buy them ;) While they were at it they bought the programmer that wrote them too Hah hah, or one of them.

About GOTD, i doubt that that was the source of your trouble, as I sometimes try out software from there and when I do i use monitoring tools and those tools show that GOTD (if you mean their 'packaging' and timout checking system) actually leave nothing whatsoever lying around or hiding in your system. As for the various progs they are offering, THEY could certainly leave stuff around. Though I only try out about one out of 5 of them on average, I've haven't seen anything yet that was nasty or sneaky in that dept so to speak.

Cheers
