Probably the cheapest you'll get it. JB had it for $79 not sure if that's still going on.

All these games from HK, are these with original covers? Are the covers in Chinese?

Can they be traded down the track for 3 for 1 at EB?

How many days for delivery at play-asia.com.

It depends.. it is a blue one or a red one ?

Dont whatever you do use a blue ethernet cable with the 360. It runs at a different frequency than the red cables and has been known to cause the infamous RROD for 360's !!

*apologies for re-posting, but i figured no one will read the closed thread, and would love an answer*

is there a way to search thread contents, not just thread titles? Cos i'm about to raise an issue i'm sure must have been discussed before, and my searching so far has been fruitless.

I was getting frustrated playing some Halo3 (poorly unfortunately) on my 360 (Halo 3 edition) and decided to switch to watch a DVD. I put the disc in and it all starts up but my screen went black but i still had sound. I'm connected using component cables to my Dell 2707WFP. The monitor menu said "there is no signal coming from your video source". Why not? I've watched dvd's on there before and haven't had this problem.

So far the only fix seems to be to flick the switch from HDTV to TV, but why do i have to do that? Even selecting the lowest 480p resolution (switch on HDTV) doesn't work.

Also, it's an aussie box, and aussie dvd which i thought were 576i but i'm getting 480p only. What's up? Am i just wrong there, are our dvds 480?

No, that will download when you first run a xbox-1 game.

There are a number of extras that are seperate downloads including;

* MCX (media center extender)
* backwards compatibilty
* Media support (ipod, mpeg4, divX, xvid)
* XNA

Did you ask him about the 4 ps2 games for $2 COD game? I felt a bit cheeky asking for both at once but i will ask him in person tomorrow. He said I need to bring in my games for them to scan to see if they are valid or not.

Yeah, right.

The "grey" cable should work fine. As should a blue cable. Or the red cable.
A red cable is generally a crossover cable (used to directly link one PC to another).
A blue cable is generally just a normal network cable (used between a computer and a modem / switch / hub / etc.)
I have no idea about a grey cable. Same as blue, I assume?

Just use a normal ethernet drop cable to make sure

Hey guys i posted this in Part 6 but didn't get a response, I was wondering if anyone knew what the deal was with going to a new console.

My 360 finally carked it and is out of warranty. It's not 3 red light related so i'm not going to bother sending it back. I am considering getting the basic package as i already have the HDD and all the A/V cables. My question is what happens with my gamertag in terms of going to a new console? I'm not worried about save games as they are stored on the HDD. Is it an easy transition to the new console?

Sorry if this a lame question. I'd rather ask here and see everyones opinions.

Thanks in advance

Hey guys, as I mentioned in the previous thread (6)
Cashed in on that Game deal tonight. got my PS3, so now I have both systems - wow, from no next gen consoles to 2 in a week (and a Wii possibly soon)
Crazy

Those trade in deals at game are crazy (4 games + 10$)
I got 2 PS3 games and a Wii game for 10$ plus the cost of 10 crappy Xbox games (overall, maybe 150$)

Sadly Mass Effect is not on their trade in / up list :( and no other X360 games interested me (enough to pay $)

If the gamertag is over 30 days old, you've lost it forever, I believe it has something to do with Microsoft being FLAPPING IDIOTS or something, but don't quote me on that one.

My problem is games, I don't think my mate has many and I don't want to get all the way to toombul and find out the EB is out of PS2 games (or at least cheap ones!)

You dont have to pay to recover your gamertag it is just one of the options on the console. You only have to pay to change the gamertag to something else.

Depends on the game, which game were u looking for? Usually the asian version is cheaper and often the aussie version. But you have to make sure there is a tick in the PAL box...

I have a few to order, including Orange Box, Gears of War, Crackdown, Virtua Tennis 3 and Timeshift.

So just make sure PAL is ticked.

What is the difference anyway? Covers are different? Asian version, covers are in asian not english? Manuals are in english?

Depends on the game, some covers are different, others are aussie, best way to know is just look at the photo of the cover. Eg. Click on Orange box in that section linked and you will see that its got a japanese cover. The game itself will be fine and in english, but for that one manual may not be in english. Apart from Orange box and GOW, the others have english covers. Although you can buy the US version of those games too, but they are slightly more expensive but have english covers/manuals...

Hopefully its clearer now...

I agree it isn't that much work and considering you will be saving $200 its worth the extra effort unless you want to pay the $500 for the same thing

I got 2 PS3 games and a Wii game for 10$ plus the cost of 10 crappy Xbox games (overall, maybe 150$)

Anymore information please.

What games I can buy?

All I can tell you is that our GAME store there is a deal where you trade in 2 Wii/PS3 or 360 games and can choose from several games for $9.95. 360 games inc Assassin/Guitar hero 3 and some others. Can find out. Not sure what PS3 game as included. There is an exclusion list (different to the ones for the $99, 360 deal) on the GAME site. Will send link if you can’t find it.

They also have a PS2 Deal similar . $9.95 for some games (inc Smack Down 2008) for $9.95 if you trade in 4 Xbox/PS2 games.

And a PSP and DS deal same as 360/PS3 one.

I am off this afternoon to buy two 360 games second hand (25.00 each) and trade for Assasin for $9.95. Might get Guitar Hero 3 as well. Will cost me $120 for both games.

Thanks

From that list I am wondering whether it is really possible to find 2 games each $25 for trade-in.

I have found games in our local pawnbrokers that are not on the exclusion list. Games are $25 EACH. So $50 + $10 to GAME = $60 per new game.

Yes. I traded in 4 ps2/xbox games for a new xbox360 title. The deal is only available at GAME Windsor store. So I bought 8 ps2/xbox titles from a 2nd hand store for $64 total, and traded them in for AC and MassEffect.

Thinking of getting an xbox 360 but have a question.
How do you connect to xbox live? Most peoples phone lines seem to be nowhere near their TV nor is mine.
So does everyone use wireless adapter or is there another way to connect without needing the console to be near a phone jack?
My wii uses wifi which makes things easy.
I noticed the xbox wireless adapter, but it's 150 friggen dollars. I also read you can't use a usb adapter due to drivers, I already have one of those for my 2nd computer.

Some people just use really long ethernet cables.

I was thinking would i be able to place my wireless router in my lounge room, run from it an ethernet cable to my xbox and get wireless adaptors for my 2 pcs. Would this work? or does my wireless router have to be plugged into a pc?

TIP OF THE DAY : Just do what I did. Get a trial of Foxtel and as part of the installation they need to run a telephone line to behind the TV. Cancel it at the end of the trial and there you have a new phone socket ;)
It cost me $39.95 for 3 months full Foxtel and a new phone socket :)... oh and I still have the satellite on the roof too hahah

I'll take that as a compliment :)

I think they need a phone socket so that they can communicate ie. turn on/off your connection and also so that you can order Pay Per View things.

Which headsets do people recommend? I'm looking for something just for voice comms on xbox. I'd prefer something kind of cheap that I can drive and buy.

That's what I did yesterday, lot 746 in Prahran. Thought about the Game offer but decided that it was too underhanded. Dunno if it is falcon but it does have HDMI.

Now I just need that 3300$ 46" Samsung or Sony HDTV for it.

Yep I've got a wireless 4 port modem/router with VOIP at that new point behind the TV. The 360 is connected to the router and I use my laptop wirelessly from anywhere in the house ... no need for a wireless adapater and no chance of skipping a beat in the heat of the battle :)

Thanks Foxtel !

That's a really good idea:) I'd have to remove the satellite after the trial, they look horrid.
Problem right now with that idea for me is they will probably use my main phone line, my alternate phone line has my adsl on it. I'll look into getting it done anyway as internode are expanding their adsl2 coverage soon, hopefully it'll be in my area.
Also the deal on their website has a contract and fee for breaking the contract. Where did you get the offer from?

Well I ducked over to Toombul with my mate's old PS2 and his 9 games (only one on the exclusion list, but some on shaky ground (ie, Fifa 02'... not exempt, but 03', 04 etc are...)

Went to DSE for a $10 game, all on layby.

Went to EB games and went to get some $17.84 preowneds (was going to get 3 for 2)... Thought, "what the hell" and asked if they'd match the deal.

Sure they say.

So I bought ONE $17.84 game

They gave me $11 for the PS2 memory stick and $1 for the extra controller

They then gave me the $99 trade in deal.

Cost of Xbox 360 premium pack (Lot 742 with 175w power supply) came to $104.84...

I thought "what the hell" again and asked if they price match Big W's $58.84 controllers. Sure they said. So I picked one of those up too...

What a bargain! $164 for a 360 with an extra controller! Thank god my friend moved to Ireland!
