This thread is for best prices on the 8800GT and where you got them. General Discussion of the video card should remain in the 8800GT/GTS thread.

I'm sure, like any online shop, they'd have some fine print conveniently avoiding their guarantee or very stringent conditions that have to be met first. (Yes, very pessimistic, I know ;)

That's a nice price, hopefully they haven't forgotten to "update" the price, however...

Still, I like the way in nVidia's latest emailed newsletter, what's being promoted at the top of the page?

An 8800GT! O.o

nVidia's email newsletter writes...

Your search for the perfect graphics card is over. The ideal combination of power, performance, and price, SLI™-Ready NVIDIA® GeForce® 8800 GT offers 112 stream processors, a 256-bit frame buffer, standard-setting GeForce 8 Series features and a strikingly immersive DirectX 10 gaming experience.

I'm sure they don't need to push them any harder and put more strain on the distributors...

Last fri, due to my frustration in waiting for stock here, I tried like 12 web sites in the US and Canada, and not 1 of them had stock on hand. Plus, only a few of them would even ship to Aust. if they had it.

Trouble with all the stores mate, they'll tell you anything about when the stock will arrive, just to get your business.

When I had my comp business a while ago, I never used to do that.

There will be stock coming in either tomorrow or early next week from a couple of suppliers I still know. Seeing all the hassle people on this forum are going through to get the cards, almost makes me wanna start my business up again just to help you guys out...hmmm!!!

I just got a call from Centrecom, I had an XFX on order there with my build, but already got one so asked to cancel it, they said that they should be coming in pretty soon, they said they already had some but they thought that the new XFX cards would come in pretty soon anyway.

Stock has arrived for some cards (i would say same for PCCG), about 10% of the quantity of cards ordered. Prices arent going up because us retailers are jacking them, the cost price on them to us is up ALOT. If retailers ask you for $10-$20 more on a backorder card that has come in dont be suprised, as the dollar is worse and cost prices are up. It's not because they're jacking prices, it's because they're in business to make money, not loose it and cost increases must be passed on.

I would be pretty annoyed about that, guaranteed stock yesterday but still nothing. They shouldn't have said a date if they couldn't "guarantee" it.

Someone should release a schematic for these, we could probably etch own own PCB's and populate the board quicker than getting them in a store :P

The suppliers are at the mercy of nVidia and the manufacturers. I was "assured" stock on Monday and now been told next week.

Ive only ever heard good things about PCCG gear, and ive bought stuff from them before...this is the first time ive seen them say "guaranteed stock for the xxth" for a certain product, lets hope they know what their doing.

I saw "assured" in that it wasn't 100% committed and as such I told my customers the date may change. I keep saying it's an ETA with emphasis on "Estimated".

Nevertheless it's still frustrating .. one of them is for me!

The KO's I had ordered a week ago has been pushed back to Jan08 as an ETA. Other retailers may have more luck.

Well said. I'm gonna be super-pissed if they can't get stock very soon. I realise that the flow of stock is mostly out of their hands, but PCCG "guaranteed" me a KO and has already debited my account for it. Obviously I'm not the only prospective KO owner who was enticed with the "guarantee".

I called Jantech earlier this afternoon and they never mentioned a price hike. My invoice is still the same too. If they expect me to pay an extra $39 for each of my cards they can get stuffed, thats almost $80 of nothing more than greed money.

They'll most likely honour the pre-order prices.

I think they've done the dodgy, coz they're charging 450 for the cards that come in tomorrow, and they have another listing for the cards which come in next wednesday, and they're only $428. Same exact model.

does anyone have any idea what stock is like at stores like newegg and tiger?

If he is going to Canada tell him to go to Futureshop. They have heaps of stock.

www.futureshop.ca

There is an XFX 8800 GT for $299 CDN with company of heroes. If purchased in Ontario it will work out to $340 'ish after Tax which is $395 Australian. Insured 5 day overseas postage on that will be about $40 AU.

www.tigerdirect.com also has heaps of stock. Would be dead easy to find one of these cards out there...

If it's the eVGA one then apparently the suppliers received a lot less stock than anticipated, therefore 2-3 week ETAs are being pushed back to 5-6 and KO's I was told don't expect til Jan08 at least!

By then the new 88GTS will be out, or the ATi 3870 for much much less (got some pre-order pricing of ~$350 retail).

Took the plunge and just bought an overprice XFX 8800gt xtreme version from CPL (near clayton). Should have bought one when if was out at 319!!! AArrrgghhh!!! Going to install it tomorrow. Selling off my 7800GT.

Asked the sales guy, and he said they are going to stock Asus, Winfast/Leadtek and Gigabyte soon. Asked him about the price. Starting at 389 to 439. Can't remember which is for which though.

Wow, you guys sure rip into this kinda stuff - lol 50+ pages just discussing prices!

Anyway, I don't visit here much, but thought I'd drop by and give a few hints to those looking out for cards in stock ;)

Originally I couldn't find them anywhere, but after ordering on a few different sites (even though I may not end up buying from them) I have found the following:

* scorptec.com.au - Scorpion Technology are receiving Gigabyte models in the next few days, as advertised on their site for $399 - I originally chose this and was about to organise a trip to their store in Clayton after one of their kind staff rang me and informed me that these were coming in soon

* www.newcomputers.com.au - New Computers have some EVGA superclocked units in stock for $409.86 (price from site) - well this is what the guy told me when he rang me up after I'd pretty much decided on the ScorpTec one .. but now I'll get this one instead seeing as it's slightly cheaper (was $392 when I ordered it, so it stays that way) + overclocked :)

New Computers are in Oakleigh - can't say I've ever been there before, but if it doesn't work out, I've been a bit tricky and kept my Scorptec order active :P

GL to you all - maybe I should visit here more often, it sure would've helped me on my quest to find an 8800GT when I started out :s

One of my friend's parents is a distributor for some company, its all pretty vague. She offered me an Asus 8800GT for $420.

Not so impressed. I might just wait it out till they become a bit more available... At least ATM I have my 360 and Mass Effect to keep me well and truly entertained.

I'm the same as you Scott27. Ordered it on Monday (from Tekcorp) and the order changed to Processing yesterday. Got the same "will be despatched yesterday if arrive before 3pm email". I suspect it's a string along just to get our orders and money. Annoying especially after being told the cards would arrive and be despatched on Tuesday!

I had already paid my pre-order,

I was a bit skeptical that nothing had updated in 5 days so I sent a few emails and he offered to refund my money.

I'd say its just a business on the side for him but I think what he says is the real deal. Guess we'll have to wait until next week to find out :P

if you can get in that price

There difference is just couple buck of aus dollar here...
