I recieved a fax today with specials from dell. But what caught my eye was the 24' Ultra sharp monitor for 599. After confirming with dell that it is the 2407wft-hc ultra sharp 24 i placed an order. The e-code for the fax is Q142407WHC. Just call up dell and say i recieved a fax with that quote for a 24' :). The fax clearly states that it is only valid till the 1st of November. :)

I repeat CALL DELL NOW QUOTE Q142407WHC FOR A DELL 24' FOR 599 DELIVERED!!!!!!!!!!

+1, Dell rep is away at the moment, gets back on Nov 1.

I'm goin to get a refund on current one. And save myself 200 :-)

Oh, Raffe, btw. Last I talked to my rep, she said as long as you get a quote. It is valid for 48 (or 72) hours, even past the date of the offer. So if you get a quote on the 1st, you should still be able to use that quote on the 3rd/4th max.

Whim me for the reps details.

Yeah of course. That is just like any other manufacturer.

I dunno why Dell don't do a 0 dead pixel policy anyway ay. Thaey are such a big company I am sure they could cover it easily. Spose they don't really need to seeing their monitors already sell heaps. But I mean I'd buy one if they had a 0 dead pixel policy, that's why I only buy Samsung monitors.

This was a mistake AFAIK.
They rejected the ad on the fax saying that its a misprint.
Although I did manage to get it at $580 online, they immediately took the page down.
BTW, my order is on the way.

Have been a few of the 22" going on Dell Outlet for $306 the last week or so.

Ordered one today - only 1 year warranty and apparently you have to supply your own power cable - not a problem got heaps of them floating around at home.

For that price, though, I'm not going to complain, unless this 24" deal pans out to be real at $600.

I reckon it's a bit inconsistent, would it depend who you get to take your call? The OP got his on 30th Oct (Tues) as can be seen on his pdf invoice, but then again we have ppl saying that they called on Monday and have been outright told that it's a misprint (on the other $799 dell 24" thread).

No harm in calling (maybe a few times to get to someone who is iffy and gives u the price).

Key difference is the panel. When that first came out it was well priced and used a superior 8 bit panel. I was kicking myself I didn't jump on it. However now I dont think there's any around with that panel and they're all 6 bit.

Haven't tried it personally so couldn't tell you much more.

To summarise: it was a mistake, 80-90% of people trying it are unable to attain the discount, however for some people they are honouring it. In essence it depends who you get. As the eCode doesn't work on the website, it is up to the rep on the phone to place the discount manually as far as I know.

I spoke to my rep and he agreed to honour the price but did note that it was a mistake. He said he could offer it to me for today only (standard story!).

He thinks I'm insane as I bought a bunch of monitors last week.

I'm not sure if I just misunderstood him but it sounded like he was suggesting I buy them up en masse. He could of just been taking the piss out of me, "so you can have many 24 inch monitors".

I can't really justify buying one, but thought you might be interested. I'm not comfortable whimming his details before anyone asks ;)

Is that a mirror in your pants?

Um, no, not really. Remember I spent a fair bit only a few weeks ago. I emailed my rep and said I had received through one of my places of work a fax that quoted the code and the price of $599. I asked him to prepare me a quote and email so that I could proceed (I generally ask for PDF quotes in advance of an order so I can track everything and make sure it's all what I want). Reps generally prefer to call you back, so he called back and told me what I said above. I didn't ply him because I wasn't really interested, just said "fair enough" but he did offer to honour it.

Does someone still have a copy of the fax they can scan and post up?

I emailed our Dell rep to see if he knew anything about the offer, he asked me for a copy of the fax.

Everyone keeps saying "their" rep, I take it you can't just call the public sales line and get it? Do you need to actually order it from your works Dell rep?

Just got back from Uni and was going to order but I think I misunderstood.

Just put mine through
Used Dell home ie. press 1 and you get through to someone who directs your calls (Indian woman) - I said monitor and I got through to a guy called Kenny - sounds Malaysian.

Then I said I want a 2407 for $599, I have some coupon code, and he said okay he'll put it through and didn't ask for a coupon or whatever.

I have a self-imposed $500 limit on my credit card, but things a little above that have gone through in the past so I hope this one goes through.

For $400 off RRP, I think I can live without getting an extra $18 EPP discount :-).

Also can confirm used the same procedure for getting an order in over the phone this morning.

Used the 1300 number, although it didn't really sound any different to the first automated operator thingy you get from the 1800 number.

Won't believe it 100% until I get the confirmation e-mail though.

Fingers crossed and let's hope the ghosting does not end up to be a major prob.

If it happens, it happens - if it doesn't, it doesn't - I'm not to fussed.
I was 50-50 on whether I should purchase one in the first place.

How do you get to this mysterious kenny? Call 1800-812-393 then press 1 twice? I did that and I got some lady asking to direct my call, she put me on hold, said there was no available sales staff and that they'll call me back :(

Confused++ :(

You're doing it right...I guess Kenny was too busy with me to serve you :P

now that the initial rush is over...I realise there probably isnt enough room on my desk for both the 2407 and my current 2405!! haha

Fingers crossed!

Do you guys think this is a viral marketing ploy or a few genuine mistakes (first was online where they took website down to fix it - second was this fax)?

Bit strange to have 2 mistakes with the same price...

WHOO HOO - I just ordered mine also for $599 (no EPP discount but who cares!)

I rang the 1300 number and got put through to a sales rep - said I was after the $599 fax deal on the 2407WFP-HC.

She checked the price and said OK!

It was quite painful spelling out addresses etc... (as I haven't bought anything off them before) - not great english - but hey - for an extra $200 discount - well worth it.

Fingers crossed that my email confirmation turns up soon!

Possibly ... although Dell is large enough to absorb the cost if it is a mistake. And I mean the deal runs out after today (and how many orders can they really take today).

I just got off the phone with Elizabeth, and at the end she said (something along the lines of) "atm the price is going for $799, but she'll get the manager/supervisor to put the price down for your order and if all goes well, you should recieve a comfirmation email".

so, i guess i got myself one for $599. =)

This all being said how long did it take you guys to get your confirmation email and have the money taken out of your account? The lady on the phone didn't have the best English and the line was bad so I'm a bit worried she got my details down wrong.

Cheaper to get a decent 24" elsewhere and stick it on a desktop VESA mount :-D

THIS IS A PRICING ERROR, BUT DELL ARE HONOURING IT FOR TODAY ONLY!!

I've just ordered 3 at the special price - you'll need to get in quick.

Call 1300 884 308, ask for James (extension 2277). Just say you're after the 24" LCD at $599, and he'll know what to do.

Delivery is ~7 working days.

Curious as to what you mean by this.

Is there a cheaper good/better quality ultrasharp 24" monitor with the full range of video input ports out there that I should be considering?
