Hello all...
Looking for a DSL provider with no contracts or bundled phone deals.
Beagle seems to be the perfect fit as far as price and traffic quota goes...
Im only after 512/128. Faster would be great but its not a priority.
Anyone here with them? Any experiences?
cheers

Hi HyperHorse,

There's a lot of discussion and feedback about our dial-up products in the Whirlpool dial-up and ISDN forums which you can check out. The main thread in the dial-up forum is here: forum-replies.cfm?t=261391

We're all glad to see someone here who remembers World Reach and Zip World!

As it states on our website, for the fastest turn around, please send us an email. Generally, we respond within minutes to email. The vast majority of questions people have can be answered by checking our FAQs and plans pages. You don't appear to have left a voice message so therefore we don't know to call you back. We do get very busy especially with our current Spring Special so rather than place you on hold for extended periods, you're invited to leave a voice mail and you will be called back within a few hours. Hope that helps explain things.

I really hate to type , alot easier & faster to talk & no misunderstanding as in text.
Comparing diff ISPs , & yes im busy too.
1] Whats to stop you putting up the price in say 2 months(no contract)?
2]Do you take visa?
3]Will my router work with you?
4]How long have you been supplying adsl?
5]you do have an accurate meter?

There was other stuff , but Ive forgotten.
Usually if you send an email to a ISP , yeah sure your gona get a response ,
If I could have called & spoke to a person , right there new customer.
Do like seeing you take the time , thats a good thing.
Cheers adrian.

We've never raised our prices on any product since launching in 2004 and we have no intention to do ever do so. Our business is based upon a sound model. Our product is without contracts so you can leave at any time without penalty.

Yes, we take VISA, Mastercard and American Express.

We've been supplying dial-up Internet services since 2004 and ADSL since 2006.

I see no reason why any ADSL compliant router wouldn't work with any ISP.

We have a usage meter available on our website and it is accurate. There would be little point having an inaccurate usage meter.

If you want to sign-up, the best thing to do is sign-up online using our automated and secure activation process which you can do at any time day or night at your convenience.

Hope that helps.

If a customer can not get access to the Internet (such as a line fault with ADSL or a problem dialling in with dial-up, etc) then they should absolutely give us a call so we can assist in working out where the problem may be. If you do have access to the Internet and email is working we then do ask that any enquiry you might have to please send that via email. Also, the FAQs on our website have solutions to most common problems also.

Hope that helps clear things up!

Hi , I dont know what the correct hrs are to send an email.
Whirpool says 24/7.
I sent an email to support.
The churn went thru & since my torrent speed has dropped down to being unusable.
All I have changed is the username & password.
Browsing is full speed.
Prior I was getting 51KB/s .
Just noticed I was getting about 16KB/s , never seen it jump around like this.
7.14am Hitting about 30KB/s overnight & 20's this morning , thats good enough for me.
This will give you the full 50Gb/month if you want it.
Gee the meter seems to be really good so far.

The temp problem that was there before , only last a day or two.
The sending email & not ringing up , was a little strange for me to start with , but it works well with any questions you have.
Good to see they now have a reduced setup fee with contract , choice.
Try them , you will see for yourself how good they are compared to others.

Hi, I've been on Beagle dialup for quite a while, then on ADSL 512 with another ISP, before coming back to Beagle, for ADSL 1500/50GB, a couple of weeks later, even though I'll have to pay an early exit fee.

I had no downtime between connections. Applied on the 2nd, activated on the 8th.

The connection has been solid, I haven't dropped out at all in the week I've been connected, web downloads at 150 KB/sec, torrents usually range from 10 to 60 KB/sec depending on connected seeds/peers. A well seeded torrent like OpenOffice will download at over 100 KB/sec.

Customer service is first class. I definitely recommend them.

It's often the case that people will take the time to complain, but very few will take the time to say something positive! We've been very pleased to have had so much positive feedback in the Dial-up forum and I hope that continues with our DSL products.

I'd like to encourage all our users to assist Whirlpool by completing the Australian Broadband Survey 2007.

Your DSL prices are not exactly setting the world on fire! No ADSL1 8000 etc and no ADSL2+ so you might be excluding yourselves from a certain segment of the market.

Just a quick note to report that I too have found Beagle to be quite good. Tech support is great, compared to some other providers I have used (the big one and the extinct flightless bird, to give you a clue). On the three occasions I had to resort to the phone, twice I got a human instead of a machine! Better than average IMHO.

sure my p2p is all over the place but hey its p2p what do you expect (oh and ftp is surprisingly slow) other than that best connection where i am from any adsl isp including Telstra! also id say one of the best customer relations programs ive ever seen at beagle.

Beagle do not shape P2P they priortise trafic so that your voip experience and Http protocol traffic is first to keep a good QOS. Very good way of doing it unlike the isp's who actually shape p2p.

keep it up beagle :P

Hey,

I signed up with Beagle internet a few weeks ago, on an ADSL 256K plan ... I'm absolutely loving it! I've decided that its time to join the ranks of all the other satisfied customers that sing Beagle's praises, so here goes:

I was on a dialup connection thru AAPT. Nothing wrong with the service, reasonable rates because of the bundling, all was good. But it wasnt broadband, and I was desperately wanting faster internet speed (mainly for web browsing, rather than downloads) - BUT wasn't willing to sign a long term contract.

Stumbled across this thread, was amazed that so many ppl were happy with Beagle to the point of publicly announcing said happiness, and honestly, a little disbelieving - i was wondering whether it was a guerilla marketing campaign or something - ie. fake testimonials.

They weren't fake testimonials.

Keith from Beagle is prompt to reply to emails, often within 10 minutes or so, and everything is just so easy. I paid 6 months in advance (had to, because i was paying by direct debit), and so i dont have any bills to pay at the moment - and i love it - I don't need to flap around with anything, and best of all IMHO, i've rarely had reason to contact Beagle, for anything other than upgrading my plan - ie they havent stuffed anything up on me.

Anyway my little praise session is over - bottom line = Beagle is good. Very good.

Kind Regards,

Dave

I signed up to Beagle ADSL last week. I wasn't dissatisfied with the last ISP but they had moved in an upmarket direction and i'm more looking for just a connection without the service extras.

So far i'm happy enough with beagle and it's $20 a month cheaper than before for a little bit more download limit. It was a simple painless installation and that was a good sign for the future.

I went to the Beagle website to sign up online for the 512/50gb ADSL plan. Started filling the form. Got to the 'Billing type/Payment Option' section, and after picking 'Direct Deposit' from the drop down, it brings up a paragraph of Direct Debit info, but doesn't allow me to complete the form....that is, the next boxes 'Card Holder Name', 'Account number' etc... were disabled so I wasn't able to enter my details.
Yet picking the Visa option just to see what would happen, and the boxes are enabled. Sounds like this plan is for CC only?....yet the preceding T's & C's page states in it's 'all plans include' list that CC and DD are the payment options.
Also looking through the list of plans, the one I want (512/50gb) has both CC and DD beside it as the allowed payment options. On the sign up page, there's even a paragraph explaining the direct deposit conditions. Is Credit Card now the only payment option?
Anyway...after reading the Important – Direct Deposit Payment info, I don't think I can afford to pay 6 months of plan fees in advance twice a year! Yikes!

The two payment options we accept is credit card and direct deposit.

Direct deposit is not direct debit. With direct deposit, you deposit money into our bank account, we do not withdraw it from yours. This is covered in the Billing FAQs on our website. It's a quasi pre-paid payment method. Therefore, there are no account details to enter and that is why the fields are disabled.

If you want to pay for your services month-to-month you need to use a credit (VISA, Mastercard or Amex) card or debit card (with the VISA or Mastercard logo).

Hope that helps.

As I don't have a credit card, I may go for that option....6mths pre-paid/upfront.
Thanks for clearing that up for me Keith :-) I'll go and read up on the billing FAQ's.

I am very happy with Beagle. I started on dial up. When we moved to an area with ADSL, we changed to Broadband.

There were lots of problems, none of them due to Beagle's service; yet Keith came in with loads of Emails to help me, very cheerfully, I might add. Without the support and subsequent follow up, we may have just gone back to 'dialup' and Aunty Telstra.

Everything is simple and straight forward on the site. No fluffy bits. I go to my Email, go back, check my download status. I receive my invoice promptly and there are no hidden 'extras' I pay $34.95 for 5G capped. I'm using around 1.9 at the moment, but I could use more later. Not bad.

I am a writer, not an IT tech. Beagle is safe for me. It is reliable, which is more than I can say about Telstra. I got sick of their 'spamming.'

Big pat on the head for my favourite 'Beagle.' Roll over and I'll tickle your 'tum.'
"Woof, Woof."

Have a dog biscuit, Keith.

Lis.

Echoing others on this thread I have been with Beagle as a dial-up ISP for the past few years, where they were by far the best dial-up ISP that I have used over the 12 years that I had been online. Over the last few months I have upgraded to Beagle ADSL and have found their service have been nothing short of excellent. I hope to be a satisfied Beagle customer for many years to come.
