Just rebuilt my MythBox and mostly all works well.

Something I never noticed with my previous installation is it now logs all TV programs watched in the media library which is a pain, for example if I simply turn off the TV but don't exit back to the main menu then in the morning I have a pile of $%^& in the medial library.

This is confirmed here:
mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/LiveTV#AutoExpire

The main problem however is I cannot find my recordings that I do want to watch... as opposed to the auto recorded TV junk. When I check the media library it only lists the TV shows I've watched however if I go into "Manage Recordings" then I can see the listing of only what I chose to record, however I cannot finds them in the media library to play them ?

In MythWeb under recorded programs they appear there also and I can click on one and download it to my PC and watch it there so the recording has definitely worked but for some reason they are hidden on the MythBox ?

Any ideas ?

On the Media Library screen, hit M to go to the menu, then choose "Change Group Filter". You probably want to select the "Default" group if you haven't added any custom groups.

Maybe you can answer a question for me... how do I make MythWeb choose the "Default" group on that page by default? No matter what I do it decides to display "LiveTV" first.

Bingo

No matter what I do it decides to display "LiveTV" first.

Strange... until you solved this problem for me mine always displayed the LiveTV group by default, as I didn't know the others even existed. Now I've changed it to "Default Group" and rebooted and it now displays the default groups when it rebooted !

The only problem I now have is getting my MythBox to refuse to shutdown when I press the power button if it's currently recording :) Ahh well "Mid Summer Murders" Part A & Part B

Think I may have found it !

Utilities/Setup
=> Setup
==> TV Settings
===> Playback

On page 4 entitled "View Recordings (Recording Groups)"
Default group filter to apply: Default

Hope this helps...

True, but I do like to watch the news live every now and then. Now given that my HD tuner in my large LCD TV has just died and I haven't got around to arranging for it to be fixed (and I won't have the TV during repair probably) - my MythTV with it's dual HD tuners works a treat. So much so that I haven't really noticed the TV tuner is dead!
