hey guys. would like to know what you think about this particular computer and how much you should be paying for it. i have managed to find one for what i think is quite cheap (around the $800 mark) my main concern is i dont know macs very well and i' not 100% if i am paying too much. any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

on another note...has anyone ever heard of www.wanlro.com ? they have a posting on the net in regards to another laptop but they look a little too shady for my liking...

What are the specs? Is it a CD or C2D?

Either way, I'd expect to normally be paying anywhere from $2000 + for a used MacBook Pro.

$800 would get you a 3-4 year old PowerBook G4 around the 1ghz mark.

Please post the specs of the machine you're looking at.

Also a link if you have one.

Is this your first Mac purchase?

If it's from a site similar to the one you linked to, it's almost certainly dodgy.

M-A-H

A Macbook pro that has been run over by a truck is still worth more than $670.

Its a scam, your seller is probably sitting in some internet cafe somewhere.

Your call, but you will do your money, the computor doesn't exist.

Do yourself a favour check the headers on his emails to you

So are you saying you did end up with a new (albeit older model) MacBook Pro for around $800? The MA601X/A was not the first version of the MacBook Pro, and for $800 or so, not a bad deal. The only thing is it may be out of warranty and you couldn't purchase extra for it. If you don't like it, you might be able to get your money back on eBay.
