You can try but don't expect much. The high end AM2s can't overclock much AT ALL.

I think the major difference will be the heating of the computer. Depending on the increase of your CPU. Before you actully do this better consult professinals about how to actually do it. Do you know about the RAM and the FSB?

I think 200 was the most they managed in reviews.

Yep that's about right , i have one and can't get much out of it without ram instabilities and heat issues.

Hmm thats a bummer. Maybe their new CPU's such as the Phenom would be able to do it.

Sure is and knowing this i have given up on trying to get anymore juice out of it.

I can't be bothered with all that stuffing around just get a few extra mhzs and have the system hotter than the sun.

I have tried PC 5300 and 6400 ram but still can't more than 3245mhz from the 6000+

Damn memory controller.

At a stock speed of 3ghz it is a fast and cool ( temperature wise ) cpu for the price.

Beats me how some folks get over 3.5ghz from their 6000+

Most likely their RAM or their CPU fan? What do you have in RAM and CPU fan?

If your interested in OC why not make the 'good' switch to Intel? Other than that stick to your current speeds.

At the moment i have 667mhz ram in there which is running at the lowest setting of 400mhz , which is the 1:1 ratio. I have found that running the ram in sync with the CPU frequency it is much more easier and stable with overclocking.

I have left my 6000 at 216.4mhz x 15 giving a clock speed of 3246mhz.

And to be honest this extra 246mhz does not even seem noticeable to me when doing basic stuff.

All that for a doubling in temperature from a stock idle temp of 18/19degress to an overclocked idle temp of 36/37 degrees.

Come summertime it is getting set back to stock speeds of 3ghz.

A set up like this, is pretty much what alot of 6000's have been stable with.

3.3 on 1.35 volts
3.4 on 1.45 volts
3.45 (3.46 actual) on 1.475 volts stable.

4-4-4-12 1T timmings and it is running at 384.8.

HTT is at 4X running at 923.4
As you can see alot of work, for little in return.. not much point in the exercise sorry to say.

Here is a good link to check out if you are interested.

The short answer is that a 6000+ is basically an overclocked 5200+. The reason you don't see 6400+ on the market is that AMD have found that 6000+ is as far as they can get it to go consistently. You might get lucky and get a bit of performance, but don't bet on much.

They also run fairly hot at stock apparently, so overclocking isn't the smartest idea anyway.

One of my friends is running a 6000+ at 3.3 or 3.4, but hes using an Asus M2-X or something like that.

Should be fine.

It's kind of like smoking. Once you quit, you should be fine, provided you only smoked for a short time. If you smoked for 10 years, then you can guarantee to have a short lifespan...

bumping your own thread 4 times isn't going to get people to answer you if they're not at a computer... Wait 24 hours before bumping threads, or at least until late at night. SHEESH!!!

To answer your question - Is your computer running fine? If the answer is yes, then why are you bugging people here?
