Hey everyone. I have a problem with bit torrent.

Have had a few issues over the last few days with my pc. Nothing to do with the internet or related settings.

Switched on my computer today to try and download somthing in bittorrent (bitlord) and it didnt work.

under "status" it just says "connecting" and it keeps saying that until i losde patience and exit the program.

Everything was working fine until today.

How do i find out what the problem is and how do i fix it?

I edited some values in msconfig to "selective startup" including diabling some services and applications

Any ideas???

Please?

Pretty please?

Provide the following info:
Firewall?
Modem/router?
AntiVirus?
ISP?

Have you forwarded ports?

Cheers ~ Masa :)

A socket operation was attempted to an unreachable network. This usually means the local software knows no route to reach the remote host.

Winsock error.

Try using another client. Like uTorrent or Azureus

I heard something about win2fix...might fix this.

It is the Netgear. Firmware update? Do you have unPnP enabled? Sounds like the router could be arbitrarily flushing the DNS cache.

The Netgear you have is infamous for crapping itself when you have too many global connections.

Use the speed guide in uTorrent, then if the same error occurs lower the amount of global connections.

Do you have Peer Guardian 2 on?
If so turn it off, then stop/start the torrent(s) and does this fix it?

I think it is the Netgear as it is listed as a Bad Router on both Azureus and uTorrent.

Someone on the main forum I frequent had this exact problem 2 days ago with uTorrent, and it was reporting that error. Peer Guardian was the culprit.

Just another suggestion anyway :D

Thanks for that I will file that one as well for future reference, I have come across this problem before, that's why I opted for the Bad Router post.

Yeah I suspected it was a router/firewall problem for the person I was helping. But then I found this thread above, where splintax mentions PG2 as possibly being the cause. Disabling it, then restarting the torrents seemed to fix the problem, and they could enable PG2 again and it worked fine..strange

Use a real client instead of that cheating BitLord.
