There was, but it is no longer available for download off the BigPond website. Reason is because of the migration to the new billing system for customers still on the old billing system. The BigPond toolbar (as they called it), does not have support for the new system.

There have been unconfirmed rumours that BigPond will support it in the future, however, they are just rumours.

Edit: Due to a glitch with direct linking, the BigPond toolbar is still available for download.

Would bigpond really give users a way to see how much they have downloaded right in front of them?? and miss out on all those excess charges from people that don't quite understand what additional usage i? I am sceptical :P

Why did they remove the toolbar? New billing system?

Yes, but I am talking about showing the new Billing System, this only displays old billing system although I have requested it.

So far, the only one to support the new billing system is listed up top.

New Billing system, changes to the way that usage measurement is done, and changes to the authentication system the old toolbar used. It was written well before the new platform was, and they haven't been bothered to update it. And I wouldn't say that comment was skeptical, Odium, more like deadset cynical. :P

Don't know about the rumours they're going to update and resume support for the Toolbar though, I haven't heard anything about it..

UA still has quite a bit of bloat. and updating from telstra with UA is still slow.

come on telstra, get your act together. how about you support your customers properly?

write an official toolbar usage meter for your customers.

i know this means that you might not make as much cash$$ as not so many of your customers will get ripped off each month. but it is the right thing to do. it might even make it easier to sleep at night.

just think, someone had to get stung an extortionate excess fee, to pay your extortionate salary, so you could sleep on an extortionatly overpriced bed. i ask you though, how DO you sleep at night?

that is cynicism.
nothing short of what telstra deserve though.

Probably best to ask in the UA thread. Are you running vista by any chance?

No running XP. But I am on the new billing platform. I have tried 7.0.4.0 & 7.0.5.0. The later has support for Bigpond new billing system.

I will send him off an email & maybe something can be sorted.

The FireFox plugin works like a champ on Bigponds new billing system.

I have also tested it with PPC linux FireFox & it works there also.

So nice to have a way to check your usage without going to the Bigpond site.

One really has to question there motives or capabilty. Out of all the web pages I go to Bigpond has to be slower than tar on a cold day.

I'm on the new billing system (seeing as I only just got cable).
Using the Firefox 'Net Usage Item' toolbar. It's working pretty spot-on so far.
Thanks

With this whole new billing system. I'm off contract for a while now, Just paying monthly. Apparantly i've been shifted to the new billing system as of the beginning of this month. I thought only new customers would be shifted over?
