as the above states I get sound when i stream from vlc media player but not from windows media, anyone know why? |

Get yourself a copy of the ever so helpful software, and subtly named, Gspot, to identify the audio codec. |

I'm having this problem also... I've tried the advice about the update, and it did not work... I've uninstalled media player and still no luck... the file I'm trying to play shows the audio codec needed is Windows Media Audio 9.1 16 kbps, 16 kHz, mono 1-pass CBR but my system is not showing it... and I cannot find it anywhere... this is annoying |

well, i figured it out... it didn't have anything to do with codecs or updates... it was one of my settings in the options under devices... the wrong speaker driver was selected... |
