Upgraded to vista on my Toshy p100/n02, but can't get the native bluetooth stack in vista to work. If I use the Toshiba stack it works but puts a lot of extra processes in the background hence why I used the native bluetooth stack built into XP. I have followed the installation instructions to the letter that Toshiba have outlined, checked the help files on the MS site but still can't get the native Vista bluetooth stack to function. What am I missing???

Also those that are using Vista on a notebook how many processes do you have running?? I have just over 60. I had a lot less when using XP.

HELP

I've had trouble getting a bluetooth headset to work with the native vista bluetooth stack to.

From what I've been able to find out - Microsoft has disabled everything but mice and keyboards from working on the native bluetooth stack.

Does anyone know more about this?

Quest, does Toshiba say that the Bluetooth device will work with the native Windows Vista stack? (BTW the number of processes running by itself is not necessarily a good indicator of system performance.)

Uh not quite true?

I am using the Microsoft stack on my tablet PC and I can do the usual stuff like use my phone as a modem, send/receive files, do networking (PAN), etc...

On the other hand, on my desktop PC, my Bluetooth device is the transceiver that came with my Logitech mouse and keyboard set. I can only use mice and keyboards with that device, and it doesn't even work very well. Logitech tells me it's expected behaviour, but doesn't offer an explanation for it.

Does your tablet PC run Vista?

My plantronics headset worked under XP, but doesn't under Vista.

Yes. Windows Vista detected the Bluetooth device and installed it by itself. I didn't need to provide any drivers for it.

Under Windows XP, I used the WIDCOMM stack that HP provided.

If your toshiba is similar to mine (i have a toshiba m100) then in order to use the native bluetooth stack you must run a program called 'Bluetooth Monitor 2 or 3". Check the toshiba website for an updated "bluetooth monitor" on the downloads page.

This will allow your OS to work with the Microsoft Bluetooth stack.

Cheers
