Rumour has it that NAB is no longer selling NSIPS and will be winding down support for the product. As quoted by an internal NAB source, "...it is 8 years old and outdated..." We will not be turning any customers off, but we will not be signing up any new ones and support will slowly wind down.

So, in my speak, it means that existing customers should look for a new gateway over the next few months......with support winding down, it sounds ominous.

Wow, that's interesting. I had to implement the gateway for an Optometrist in Penrith and it was nice and simple.

Well, NAB has just announced that a new product called TRANSACT will replace NSIPS. No word on exact timing, or costs. But it is a HOSTED solution like NSIPS, with no back-end solution.

I had a look at NAB Transact. NAB is calling it a "Platform" rather than a product. Currently it's only a payment gateway. Apparently, they are going to add more & more services to it along the line, hence the term "platform".

It looks very interesting. NAB Transact has a Hosted Payment Page and an API (for back-end integration). It also has a very useful Admin Portal where merchants can login and process batch payments, Mail Order/Telephone Order payments and perform admin tasks (search through records, refund payments).

Hosted Payment Page (HPP) is very flexible (100 times better tahn NSIPS) and takes care of emailing payment receipts. HPP comes with NAB branding. But merchants can brand it if they want. The API is XML based. Interestingly, there is an in-between product called Direct Post as well. This will allow the merchants to have their own payment page and post the details directly to the gateway. Direct Post doesn't require as much programming to implement as API.

As I said, it looks very promising.
