I intend to upgrade the firmware of my modem (been reading about it and I've got some stability issues which seem to be resolved in the new firmware version). I know all of the setting that I'll have to re enter with the exception of the modem password. I've got the username/password to get into the TPG helpdesk but I the modem password (judging by the number of stars) is 2 digits longer then I though. Is there any way of resetting that password or finding out what it is without getting in touch with tech support over the phone ?? On other ADSL account (exetel) I logged onto chat tech support and 3 mins later I had the password reset. I've tried calling TPG support but I've had issues waiting in the que. Is there another way to solve this?

well I've managed to fix my own problem by exporting the settings of the modem to a cfg file and then snooping around with notepad I found the extra characters in the modem password. As it turns out the upgrade did not infact influence the settings so I'm up and running with the latest Netgear DG834G firmware. Hopefully I wont get 5 or so disconnections per hour from now on...

reset button on back of modem
default is admin/password
tpg's is user@ppp or L2TP.tpg/com.au/username (unless YOU changed it)

post in the right forum
look at the FACTS
call netgear

goes on and on

netgear modems are NOT supplied or supported by TPG
choose one of theirs if you want support with your service (if you do have a tpg service)

no need to do that
general knowledge netgear passwords are not hidden
easily available in 'view source'

mmm
not a tpg modem
great modem but not tpg's issue

Hopefully I wont get 5 or so disconnections per hour from now on...

you realise you need to fully erase all setttings if you have change the fw
hopefully this time you WRITE DOWN the settings

D
p.s. look up the psu issue with 'some' netgears

I have no idea what you've been smoking my friend... How will calling Netgear tech support provide me with the TPG password to log into adsl. I have access to the modem? Even if I didnt I'd be able to reset so no idea what you're going on about but it was probably late when you've replied.

My profile says iiNet. So what? I dont see your point?
I have one connection at work. One at home and one at my girlfriend's house. So yes that equals 3.

I was also stating that Exetel's online chat support was more helpful to me when I needed a quick question answered and didnt feel like waiting on the phone for ages.

And I'm not asking for tech support in relation to the modem itself. I'm able to do firmware upgrades myself. I was simply after the TPG login information. I guess I could have made that more clear.

Considering you said you had the TPG password but needed the modem password.
