I had the same problem with my older Canon camera. The solution was to format the 2GB card in my father's newer Canon camera which will format the full 2GB. |

Thanks for replying, that sounds good. I'll see if i can find any new cameras to do this. I knew i shouldn't have formatted with my camera. I thought it would be a good idea at the time since it was the quickest option. |

regardless, i can still get the card to 2gb one way or another right? This isn't permanent? |

Awesome. Shouldn't be anything wrong since i checked before formatting, it did say 2gb in capacity, its just that i formatted so many times after it lost capacity, trying to format in different file systems in attempt to recover the lost 1gb. |

You could try putting it in a card reader and using partition magic on it. |

I've managed to resolve my problem. I couldn't get my hands on a newer camera to format it there, but i was able to borrow a storage card reader off a friend. Windows XP didn't format it to 2gb, but one of the fixes (www.ritekusa.com/ebpage....Secure%20Digital |
