Does anyone know whether the new firmware has been released yet?
I heard that it has in SE Asia....
And if it has, does that mean we can just bring our phone + receipt to any SE service centres and get it upgraded for free?

If there is an update, just use the SE update service.

you mean the one which you download the program onto your desktop and let it run by itself so you can update yourself?

Can you get the firmware for free or do you have to buy it.

I'm still waiting for someone to figure out how to unlock the phone.

The debranding is a good start however.

If you like to drive there and leave it for 2 hours then go back . You will have to bring your receipt with you.. They may still charge you because unless you say there is something wrong, they can still charge you. This was the advice from SE Customer service number 1300 ***

So it's not really free of charge, when you take into account your time, the petrol costs and any tolls you might have to pay to get there.

That's one reason I like Adelaide, 15 mins. to the city centre, no tolls, cheap parking and certainly less than $12 worth to get done :-) But you're probably right if you're talking about Sydney.

You mean even just go to SE customer service centre for upgrading firmware, they still charge us because of nothing wrong?

Anyone know when 3 is going to release R1ED001? Other networks have it, but we're still on the old firmware for some reason. Apparently R1ED001 improves the camera quality! =)

I also wanna know. I am using 3 either, but read from the other forum that firmware have been available for mostly unbranded k800i. And I tried there wasn't available yet.

My K800i from 3 currently has R1CB001 on it, yet the 3 support website says that the K800i launch software is R2L002.

Doesn't sound right to me.

to tell the truth, i don't see any improvement to the camera on the ED firmware.
only noticable thing is that the green line when taking videos is gone

I'm also waiting for the new '3' version's updated firmware for my '3' K800i.

Honestly Hutchison's '3' is useless. There has been a few updates out already, yet we're still stuck on the RCB001.

I have major problems with bluetooth.

And the Auto settings on the cameras are COMPETELY and utterly wrong. Someone in SE doesn't understand how cameras work. :(

why not used a paid service like wotan or davinci to debrand and flash at the same time? u can manually set 3's settings back, though u lose the warranty i guess.

Does anyone know which firmware to use?

I went to Woton Server and see there are two version already release after mind (R1ED001). The version right after mind is R1EG001 and R1EJ001.
The only thing I see is that the language list is different the two new version, R1EG001 have Australia listed where R1EJ001 dont.
Will I be OK to upgrade to R1EJ001 or am I only can upgrade to R1EG001?

Today I managed to update firmware with sony update manager to R1ED001 from R1CF001 not sure why some one needed to pay for it. However it doesn't tell what is expected from new firmware. Will check other replies to see what u guys found...

I got this phone 2 months back. Nd I m with OPTUS with OPTUS logo but not sim locked. BTW I tried from over the air update as well but it always said nothing 2 update now and same with earlier firmware.

Is there any call time alert tone in K800i to alert bout call duration...?

There is no work around, you need to manually re enter them, which is why you should take note of them all

check out aussie3g.com heaps of info over there, i just had a look for where i wrote all my down but can't find the file

a new firmware has been released for the k800i a few days ago (R1KC001) which is a master release firmware. i.e its the firmware developed for the new k810i

must say.. after months and months of constant WSOD's..random crashes, and other problems, so far the phone is rock sold :)
hell I couldn't even charge the phone before... it would hang after a minute or two :)

so if anyone is having having problems with their k800i give this firmware a go

I am on three network. If this firmware debrands my phone is it possible to get back all the internet and mms settings. What happend in ur case of optus network?
