Is everyone enjoying their K800i? Cause i'm loving it so much!!! Here's my contribution...

TORCH APPLET - Use your K800i autofocus light as torch (After installing, change all permissions to 'no'. This can be done by selecting more options)

Download : torch.advanta.se

Tips and Tricks:

1. When taking photos, the silver buttons above the top left and right of screen act as short cuts to change 'scenes' and shooting 'modes'. # changes flash settings to automatic/red eye reduction/off

2. When listening to music, hold zoom out button to change to previous track, hold zoom out button to change to next track. Also you can lock the phone on the music player screen and the only buttons that will work are volume and change tracks

3. In standby, press either of the zoom buttons to reveal current phone status e.g. battery level, memory availability.

4. Best function for me, write a note in the notepad and there is an option to stick it on your standby screen!

Can other users share more?

1. ON power button can be used to change profile (first for a SE phone).

2. Right, *, left, left,*,left, *, to access hidden service settings

3. While in a call, you can take pictures silent.

4. Not sure if this is a trick, anyway... once in the main menu, the keypads correspond to the actual menu layout. use this if your joystick isn't working lol. (thats what i had to do with k750 wen sometimes buttons don't register).

hmm these are all i can think of atm.

link to more tips and tricks, LasyK have lots of resource for SE phones. (Most of the tricks are the same on most or all SE phones).

Link - myforum.lasyk.net/forumdisplay.php?f=35

Do a search on TRICKS, or phone specific -> tips and tricks.

How do you actually install the Apps on the phone?

I've transferred the files to the phone, but then what?

Edit: I've figured it out already, just had to rename it to a .jar file

*, left, *, *, left

lets you access a menu to 'personalise' your phone's network status eg. network locked phones.

if you have a locked vodafone phone, get the unlock code from their website and you use this menu to unlock the phone from the voda network.

personally i wouldn't mess around with this menu unless i had to, it seems like something that could turn the phone into an expensive paperweight.

also, notepad files (.txt) sent to the phone can be read. In newer phones I think these files go into the saved webpages folder, in older phones like the k500 (my phone) they go into the Other folder and can be viewed by choosing 'Send>As Picture msg'

The flash does not work on bestpic mode as it cannot fire 9 times in quick succession (once for each 'pic').

That torch applet is awesome. Been looking for something like that for ages.

Does anyone know of anymore good *free* k800i applet sites?

Do any Optus K800i users know how to change the OptusZoo shortcut (bottom right of screen) to something else?

I think you will have to debrand your phone (re-flash it) i'm not sure if there is any free way to do this, there are websites/software that will debrand it for a fee
