All,

For some reason my VOIP has stopped working. I can't access the IVR menu...

I pick up the phone to dial **** (to do a factory reset and start again) - but I get nothing (no 'Sipura configuration menu')...

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Matthew

What is even weirder is that after I type **** on the phone (hearing the beeps as I type), after about 20 seconds it is almost like the phone is completely disconnected. Even if I hang up the phone and then take it off the hook again, when I dial anything there are no beeps at all. The same happens if I disconnect the phone from the 3102 and then reconnect it.

Note I have nothing else connected to the box - just the phone. I tried with the box connected to my cable modem and my PC connected to the box - but that didn't work, so I disconnected down to the bare minimum in case there was a conflict somewhere...

Disconnect everything from the 3102, power, phone, line & network. Reconnect only the power & phone. Try again.

If you still can't get into it by dialing ****, try with another phone. If that fails, then you may have a faulty unit.

Any way to factory reset the device without using IVR?

Have just downloaded the user guide & had a quick read.

mjwills writes...

Not that I can tell from what I've read so far.

Reading the Front Panel description, the guide states:
Green. The Power LED lights up when the Voice Gateway is powered on and connected to the Internet. It flashes when the Voice Gateway is not connected to the Internet. The LED also flashes when the Voice Gateway is booting up or upgrading its firmware.

So all may not be lost yet. Judging by what's written, the power led lights green when it has power AND is connected to the internet.

How have you got your devices setup? Is your PC connected to the SPA or do you have the SPA & PC connected to a router?

The PC is connected to the SPA which is connected to my Optus cable modem. The router feature of the SPA is working fine (otherwise I wouldn't be able to access the internet).

I have read Jason's guide - that is how I setup the voice stuff originally...

Thanks for your help...

Not that I am aware of.

I have sent you a whim; if you can send me the page that I requested I will take a look; if I can't work it out I will send a new one to you :)

But just to be 100% sure; go to another power point; plug the spa-3102 in and power it on.. (just have power connected nothing else)

Let me know what happens with the LEDs so I can compare with mine.

Next connect the phone; pick the phone up. What do you hear?

Next dial ****. What do you hear?

OK. I have disconnected the router from the PC (which is now talking directly to the modem). I have modem the SPA to another power point. I have removed all cables from it, excluding the power one. This is what happens:

Left light flashes green and red at varying frequency after turning on the SPA. After a while (within 10 seconds or so) it settles on a pattern:

Long red (about 2 seconds)
Short green (< 1 second)
Short red (< 1 second)
Red / green flashing (switches between them about 4-6 times in a second)

and repeated...

Next, I plug in the phone cable to the PHONE socket. No change to anything. The left light flashes (see previous message) but no other lights come on.

Now, I pick up the phone. There is no dial phone, but there is a short 'whisper' (1/2 second) where the background noise changes slightly. I dial **** - I can hear the phone beeping as I press the buttons). Nothing happens, except I hear a 'click' sound 10 seconds after picking up the phone handset.

After this 'click' sound I can no longer hear the 'whisper' or beeping when I press the * key. Even if I hang up the handset and pick it up again, nothing. Its as if the SPA has disconnected completely from the phone.

Next, I leave the phone plugged in and turn off the SPA. I wait 3 minutes and then turn on the SPA again (with the phone still plugged into the PHONE port).

The behaviour is exactly the same. Same flashing sequence, and the apparent 'disconnection' 10 seconds after picking up the handset...

I will now connect the PC to the router (rather than to the modem) and test a few more things...

Then I turn on the modem. Wait 30 seconds, turn on the SPA. Wait 30 seconds, turn on the PC.

Left light is constantly on. Its hard to tell its colour. It could be green, or maybe orange. It seems a lighter colour than the light next to it.

Second light from the left is flickering green fast.

No other lights on at all. I am pretty sure when it was working that some of the other lights were on...

Could you email me a copy of the buggered file (address in profile). This has me rather intrigued & would be interested to compare them with my settings although I'm using a SPA-3000. Would be interesting to see if the problem can be replicated & if so which parameter/setting causes the IVR to fail & whether it pertains to the 3102 only or other models as well..

I'll send you a copy but don't hold me responsible if it breaks your SPA3K :)

I had a play yesterday but couldn't replicate the problem.

I tried loading the details into my SPA-3000 but the attempt failed, returning an error stating as such. No harm done to the SPA3K.

As my SPA doesn't have any of the newer parameters that appear in the 3102, I replicated the settings in all the fields that matched my unit. After a reboot - still no difference. Disabling Line 1 & PSTN Line made no difference either. Was still able to access the IVR.

I even deleted the dialplan string, leaving the field empty & was still able to access the IVR.

After all that, I'm still none the wiser :(

Just had another read of the opening posts & am wondering if the problem could be power related:

mjwills writes...

The power light is orange (rather than green) and the rightmost light (LINE) isn't coming on at all...

Even after a power reset.

Some devices (eg. modems, routers), on start up, go through an initialisation/POST phase displaying a red/orange power light which changes to green once a successful power on is established. I wonder whether this train of thought has any merit?

What is even weirder is that after I type **** on the phone (hearing the beeps as I type), after about 20 seconds it is almost like the phone is completely disconnected.

If no voltage is being supplied to the phone, you lose sidetone hence "is almost like the phone is disconnected".

Even if I hang up the phone and then take it off the hook again, when I dial anything there are no beeps at all. The same happens if I disconnect the phone from the 3102 and then reconnect it.

Once again, with no voltage supplied to the phone, it won't generate any DTMF tones.

What are your thoughts Jason?

Well, when I upload the settings on my SPA-3102 it definitely messes up the IVR. I spoke to Matthew and he said that after a firmware upgrade the LED were green so I am not sure what was going on with the RED/GREEN combo. Maybe it was a power issue before, but it does the same to my unit so I dunno..

Itsreally weird.

I might have another go at it on the weekend :) Upload it so that it stops working.. Then remove each parameter at a time.

Jason

Does your unit display an orange power LED or remains green with the dodgy file?
Is your unit running the same firmware version as mjwills's box?
Do you get sidetone & is the phone generating DTMF?

Hi All,

I've just bought a spa3102 but I'm unable to get it to work in conjunction with my already present router.

It gets an ip address from the router, but then I can't access the webinterface via this IP address.

But the reason why I react in this post: I'm unable to access the IVR menu, either with tone or pulse the **** isn't working so I'm unable to check things via this route.

Can somebody mail me that reset page? Mail address in profile.

Thanks Jason,

that was indeed the solution. I just received an email from support to tell me that. I got it up and running now. I'm not entirely happy with the manual I must say. ;)

Now I'll still have to figure out:
- how to block that if voip isn't available the landline takes over. I only want incoming calls through the landline! Outgoing is way to expensive, better off using the cellphone of voip is unavailable.
- how to make use of those speed dial settings?
- how to setup the spa3102 so that if i call home with my cellphone it recognizes me and lets me dial a number via voip (Read somewhere that this was possible)
- how to setup an alternative voip provider, I thought it was possible to have 2 of those in the spa3102, but I only find line1 settings.

[EDIT]
I just discovered your simpliefied guide to the spa3000
point 1,2,4 aformentioned are now solved.
Only remaining now is how to speeddial and how to make sure that emergency numbers go through

All,

I too am having a similar problem with my SPA-3102. One day it was working fine the next I couldn't call out. I can however still receive calls. Unlike others in this thread I have not lost the ability to access IVR, and tried numerous times to sort this through resetting etc. Still no luck.

I have a pennytel account, which works fine through the softphone on my laptop, so it seems to be the SPA-3102.

It seemed to occur not long after I had downloaded some files using uTorrent. I have heard that this program uses port forwarding or something. (I think I know just enough to be dangerous when it comes to this networking stuff). It may just be a coincidence, but thought I would mention it. I didn't make any setting changes though.

My current setup is Belkin modem into the SPA-3102 then to my wireless router.

If anyone could offer some ideas on how to get the out going call thing happening for me that would be great.

Thanks,

Peaps.

Initially I lost IVR access and could not regain access for some time which I assume is normal. Would someone please send me Jason's file with upload instructions so I can start again, if I lose access completely. Thanks in advance.

Yesterday I had a tick tick sound coming from my phone instead of the dial tone. I reboot the phone and it didn't help. I just let it go and in the night I noticed that it started working, yes I heard the dial tone. I thought everything is fixed but when I got up in the morning I see the same issue and there is no dial tone. (Wish I would have reset the phone when It was working)

More details:

I have my PSTN line also connected to SPA 3102 so when I take the power off the SPA 3102 the PSTN line works fine.
I also have VOIP to PSTN gateway setup so I can my VOIP line and then dial out of my PSTN line. The strange thing is, all that is working, in the sense I can dial to my VOIP line from outside and use my PSTN line to make calls.

I just bought this box about 2 months back.

I had put xxxx in my dial plan – which basically disabled the IVR. When you dial **** it matches the dial plan and a call is made.

With this step i solve the issue of the continuos power on.

After that i upgraded to the latest firmware 5.1.7 available into the linksys webpage.

when you are doing the downgrade, while your attempoting to doit u will receive in a lot of ocations "no response from SPA" , then you should abort and do a new try. Good luck with that.

If your problem is the powerciclyn you can try only applying the factory configuration file without do the downgrade. Maybe we can save that step. I didnt do it but maybe you can.

Hope hear about ur experience..

Sorry to revive an old thread but I am having trouble logging into my SPA3102. I tried setting it to bridge mode and on reboot I cannot log in any more.

My unit is not doing the power cycling thing, so I have not been able to downgrade or flash the firmware as was outlined by the previous poster. Is there any other way to reset this device? It seems like I have a brick on my hands.

EDIT: Fixed this, nevermind. Resetted it via voice menu.
